king_tanner 84
I do think guys milk it. Not on the initial nut shots, but they do milk it to get extra rest, so I did like the "stop complaining" comments that Big John was making because that guy was bitching a little too much. I do think it was a horrible decision he made, but I agree that overall Big John is a good ref. The commission should step in and call it a no contest
AmScray 355
Missed the opening line on Jimi Manuwa @ +265 but did grab $250 worth @ +237 earlier today.
AmScray 355
$400 on Rony Jason straight @ -200 No other bets although cards like this- full of incoming and outgoing fighters- usually offer a ****ton of value since nobody knows shit and if you're willing to put in the legwork to watch their fights, you can develop actionable insight. I'm just too lazy this week to do it. *edit* Trimmed it back to $200 @ -200. Still like it but forgot Stephens just dropped a weight class.
AmScray 355
$50 on Godfredo Castro @ +102.
king_tanner 84
$50 on Godfredo Castro @ +102. I'm going to take this just because you are taking it
AmScray 355
I win more than I lose but I don't win them all so if he gets chinned in the first 20 seconds or loses a leg-kick decision don't blame me. I think he's a decent enough fighter and I don't think Sam Sicilia is cut out for this level. A lot of his chatter is from his leveling Erin Beach- who's a pretty respected MMA Boxing trainer- with one leaping punch seconds after the bell to get into the TUF house. Those are the kind of spectacular KOs a guy lands and gets enormously overrated for at least a fight or two until he's seen against legit competition. Case in point, Uriah Hall. Ron_Mexico 4,219
Hall seems to have the skill set but he can't seem to just lets his hands to and fight. He certainly won't stay in the pocket, not that I blame him. That's not a recipe for long term success
AmScray 355
I think he has ticker problems. All the tools but neither the mind nor the heart of an ass kicker. He's one fight away from Bellator or WSOF, that's for sure. It he can get his head out of his ass and make a showing, it might just be rookie jitters.
AmScray 355
I'm going to take this just because you are taking it You do realize this is why he lost, right? And Rony Jason just ate a head-kick dick. Great night, great night.
Ron_Mexico 4,219
That was quick and nasty. 2nd fight has been real good through

AmScray 355
Belfort is such an effing savage. He made Hendo look like a kid. No idea what that half retarded 'crouch down and throw totally impotent arm punches while slowly moving forward' tactic was, but no surprise to see it rewarded with unconsciousness. Prediction: Vitors next fight is at MW and somehow related to the outcome of Silva/Weidman. Also, if there can be a "Velasquez/Bigfoot II", I see no reason why there can't be a Belfort/Jones II. Ron_Mexico 4,219
Guy is certainly a beast of late. He kinda has to get the next title fight at 185, no? Great card. If you paid for this, you wouldn't have been disappointed.

Ron_Mexico 4,219
Not to mention that Belfort's loss to Silva, while decisive, was a bit flukey.
AmScray 355
Belfort came within 1/8" worth of hyper-extension of beating Jones. . He lost but it was not some lopsided fight. Whether he fights at MW or LH, he contends. Don't know if he wins, but he contends. It's crazy considering his age. I wonder if contenders and champs over 35 is an accurate representation of the MMA athletic arc, kinda like pitchers in baseball who can last into their 40's, or if it's a symptom of just how far the athlete pool has yet to develop in the sport when 37 year old TRT cases are winning at the highest levels because all the genetic outliers are still in basketball or football? king_tanner 84
So now we got mighty mouse headlining another fox card. I think this is the third fox card for him? I'm ok with the 125 pounders, but meh would like some bigger guys headlining.
AmScray 355
The UFC's thinking is clearly that the midgets are very dynamic and fight like little angry badgers thus to the Hooters casual fans, are more likely to present an 'exciting' fight and in turn, raise the overall reputation of the sport as something worth watching (since the casuals don't know anything about weight classes.) I get that, I really do, but I too grow tired of watching the Achondroplasia wars and would really like to see some HWs and LHWs on free cards. Hell, Roy Nelson is a great free card filler. Nelson v. A Heavyweight Bum will increase viewership on a free Fox card .
Ron_Mexico 4,219
But Nelson exudes that UFC 1-5 image (tough man competitions) they are so desperately trying to get away from. They want the world to know that you have to be an elite athlete to do this sport

Ron_Mexico 4,219
Agreed. My wife has watched a lot of fights, she calls GSP's shorts "fight panties" and even she was turned off by that Beltran Maldonado fight. Said it looked like two drunk guys in a bar fight. I had to agree. When guys gas, it just looks like amateur hour.
