...so all Roumanians are Racist...?Irony detection meter = 8.7
Well, that would be the first time someone called me racist. Maybe I am.. I try to be open and understanding with everyone I meet. I thought Daniel was different when I first saw him on TV - I thought, like my wife, someone who grew up outside of Romania wouldn't be. The problem is whether or not they lived with their parents who spent most of their life in Romania (where you might want to do some research but was ruled by an evil dictator who was controlling and murderous to those against him). Luckily, my wife spent a lot of her childhood away from her parents influence so she doesn't feel the same way her family does (in fact, she recently converted to Judaism along with my children which has incredibly pissed off her family). I could be totally wrong, but that comment that Joe made and the knowledge I have of other Romanians just leads me to the conclusion that it triggered something subconsiouscly.By the way, I don't think anti-semitism is racist. I hate when "Jewish" is called a race. It's not. Since people can convert to it, it can't be a race. Its a religion. You cant convert to a race.

If you think asians are a minority, you need to get out more. You can be racist against one sector of society and not another. From what i've witnessed personally (and reading DN's blog), he does have some complexes about blacks and I'm sure given his religious sense, he probably has strong feelings against Jews as well.
:club: Wow.

Many of you are way too defensive. That is as close to a truce blog as it comes, when someone is responding to being called a hack. Let it go.Save the hate for all of DN's other beefs: Raymer, Duke, Ferguson, WPT7, the NFL, meat, real estate, final table structures, the WSOP, airlines, teacher's salaries, golf hustlers, pokemon, George Bush, etc.
I do have to say ColeSlaw that your avatar is one of the best.

Fine. Let's get semantically correct and use the term "prejudice"

People refer to it as 'racism' because when you are anti-..... (whatever it may be), it is in reference to your own race. i.e - you are preserving your own race to the possible detriment of others. The core element is revolving around a 'race' issue. So, you can be considered racist if you don't want Muslims in your country, even though it is also a religion that anyone can convert to.For example, it would be ridiculous to discount Hitler as a racist because of this technicality.

I'd really like to hear DN's response to Rogan's blog entry. I truly think Rogan is trying to put this behind them and I think DN would want to do the same.

http://www.redban.com/audio/OAJR2.MP3that is the audio.it's pretty clear that joe was "trying" to be over the top or w/e...with his descriptions...but i don't think he did it outta hate, or dislike for DN.- Jordan
Ultimately we are all "making more" of this than there really is. Even DN didn't imply it was out of hatred nor dislike... more poor taste than anything.

Problem is, when people say "jewish", they often mean different things. Sometimes they mean "jewish" (religion), sometimes they mean "Isreali" (nationality), and sometimes they mean "semitic" (race). For instance, if I were to criticize Isreal's foreign policies, someone else might accuse me of being an anti-semite. They would of course be somewhat confused, and completely wrong. Being anti-semitic is racist. Hitler was certainly a racist anti-semite. He may also have been "anti-jewish", but his eugenics campaign was about the purity of the arian race. The semites bore the brunt of this. Now this of course ignores the fact that "semite" is sometimes used to mean different things too...It's all semantics.

I hate to say it, but I think what bothered Daniel most was the BLACK comment. I've said it before on this site and I'll repeat - DN is Romanian. My wife is Romanian. I have the pleasure (or displeasure as it is with this case) to hang out with a lot of Romanians and the one constant no matter if they are second generation americans (or Canadiens in this case) or not, they are RACIST (and its not them, its usually the older folk who just continue the hatred thru the generations - its SICK!). Some of DN's blogs have that undertone when he talks of minorities. You can sense it. I can tell you being Jewish and not telling her family (my wife knew obviously) at the beginning - you should have heard the comments comming out of their mouths. And it wasnt jsut the family, it was friends of hers who were romanian. Its in the culture. So I think Rogans comment at the end is what set off DN. He'll deny it. Fine. But inside, thats whats really going on. Do some research. Meet some Romanians - tell me I'm wrong. I don't think you'll be able to.
Dude, the only Romanian person I know is a friend of my girlfriends and she is engaged to a guy who is black so I'm pretty sure she's not racist. There are racist people of all races and religions. Just because your wife is racist and she happens to be Romanian doesn't mean that all Romanians are racist.

Could you be any more prejudice yourself? Here you are stating that Daniel is a racist towards blacks. And what's your basis for this? Not anything specific he's said, but the fact that he's Romanian! Holy crap! YOU are prejudice against Romanians because of what a few of them said and did to YOU. Does your wife's family and a few friends represent the entire Romanian population?I don't know, man.

Listened to this radio clip for the first time today.Joe Rogan said nothing wrong, did not disrespect Negreanu or his then ex-fiance at all. I recall that period of time when Negreanu was not with Lori. Rogan was just telling it like it is, and making a joke out of it; oftentimes in break ups we imagine worst case scenarios because we still carry feelings for the person during the rebound period. Negreanu overreacted then, and he's going way overboard with his recent blog in regard to the same subject.Knowing that the show was not strictly a "poker" show, Negreanu should have cut them some slack. I wonder if Negreanu realizes that normal people, outside of the small, niche community of poker degenerates, considers a professional poker player, no matter how successful or accomplished, an unproductive lazy bum-like, compulsive, degenerate that hovers somewhere, in terms of respectability, in the world of competitive eater, and darts player. Again, hubris clouds Negreanu's judgments yet again, and we are seeing seeds of Negreanu's old days on RGP, minus the drunken faux-thug tirades.Good luck.
