serge 904
Its sort of interesting what the Pens have done tonight..Red carpet to have the players walk through...
serge 904
Report that Pens experimented with Crosby, Malkin and Kessel on a line today at practice.
doox 15
I saw Kessel out today at the casino. It was awesome to see that he wasn't getting hassled or bothered while he was out - something I don't think he could get away with in Toronto.
Zach6668 513
I once walked with him from the Air Canada Center into a restaurant, and he didn't really get hassled. He didn't get stopped on the way, though it was just like a block. People in the restaurant said like "good game Phil" as he walked by, but nothing too annoying, I don't think. That was just one time, though, so I don't know.

Which one has a better poker room? The reason I am asking is because we are thinking of driving down to watch the leafs in December
doox 15
Downtown. It's Rivers Casino on the North Shore, next to Heinz Field and PNC Park. Little tip: park at the casino for the game, then take the train (The "T") to the Steel Plaza exit. You end up a couple blocks from the arena, and it's way easier than dealing with traffic, plus it's free to park. I never played in the poker room at Rivers, but I think it's a bit bigger. I played at the Meadows before, and it's ok. I went on a Wednesday afternoon, so it wasn't the best time to give you much feedback.

I will most likely play at Meadows since I think we want to stay in Washington Pa (outlet and casino closeby)
doox 15
No problem - I think the hotels are decent next to Meadows, and probably a lot cheaper than the North Shore area.
Zach6668 513
Is the T free downtown and the north shore?
doox 15
Yeah - the casino helped pay for it, so the local stops are all free. The last stop is the casino, so that's a win-win. Once you get a ways past the arena, it'll cost money, but I've never ridden it that far. So...free parking, free ride over, a brief walk and repeat the process in reverse after the game. That's way better than a traffic jam into the garage or parking lot, finding a spot and paying for the privilege just to get stuck in traffic trying to get back out.
Zach6668 513
It's a good set up. I've never ridden it, but I've seen it. I'd like to take it for a ride to its terminus one day. I do it in Toronto sometimes, just ride streetcars to explore the city. It'd be cool to see some of whatever is in south Pittsburgh.
doox 15
http://www.portauthority.org/paac/apps/maps/TLines.pdf There's a map of the T. Once you get past the First Avenue stop, it's gonna start to cost you, although i'm sure it's cheap. Let me know what you discover if you ever do. I've lived an hour north of Pittsburgh for all my life up until a year and a half ago when I bought a house in the very northern part of Pittsburgh. I don't really know a whole lot about it, so I'm all ears.
Zach6668 513
Station Square really should be included in the "free" zone.

Meadows is cheaper for sure plus it is near the Pens practice facility. I know they just built a Hyatt Place which we like since it suits our bedding needs. North Shore is really expensive and beyond my budget. In the past I use to stay around the airport. I use to always stay at Cranberry on the way home from DC.
Zach6668 513
I last stayed at Springhill Suites or something like that over new the South Side Works. It was alright. You can (and I did) walk all the way from Station Square to South Side Works along Carson St. Very interesting area.

I'm not sure about their schedule, but I know they practice there sometimes. Supposedly there are 2 full sized ice rinks inside - you can see it on 79 as you drive past. They only practice at Consol or UPMC Lemieiux now. Their usually practice time is 11 am, although it does vary slightly. And the Lemieux centre is ALWAYS open to the public to watch practice. Nice stands, with seats inside and outside. Also a Pensgear store in the practice facility. One of the best parts is that the Pens management team is always around, and they're pretty impressive. I was sitting in the little cafe one day eating, and Bill Guerin, Mark Recchi, Jacques Martin, and Gary Roberts all came and sat at my table. The fans that go to practice are so used to it they don't bother them at all. Oh, and all the players including Mario live up by the practice rink. Mario, Sid and geno are in Sewickly, Letang and Fleury are in Wexford, Phil is in Wexford. Worth the drive to see Mario's house. Sweet Jeebus...

Btw I think the 79 is the worst interstate The truckers on there are maniacs especially during a snowstorm or raging thunderstorm
