Pittsburgh Penguins Thread

Recommended Posts

Hello Penguins fans,

You got injuries? Tough, our team just sucks. We got our own problems, don't give a sh-t about yours. At least you got an excuse for sucking. Our only excuse is that "As god as my witness, I thought the Staal brothers could fly"

Brag post time. Lots of people saw pictures of Malkin practicing and Fleury in his new pads but I just saw them in person during a closed practice.     I was down at the arena to get my security

Yes I agree that Crosby kids gotta go. Can I interest you in a phaneuf?

JapersRink ‏@JapersRink · 20m Really looking forward to Dan Bylsma being either an idiot who can't win with Sid or a genius who can win without a bottom-6 after tonight.

Was there last night. Besides a 10-12 minute period in the late 2nd/early 3rd that the hawks kept the pens in their zone it was a pretty solid game. The pens just connected on their chances and MAF was in the way for them.

Orpik's hit on Toews was clean. Hate to see the guy get hurt but it was clean. I kept an eye on Orpik the rest of the game to see if they would go after him but thankfully they weren't that stupid in what was a 2-1 game at that point. Sharp did go for a hit though and as he was finishing it Shaw tried a hit from the other side that Sharp appeared to get the worst of. He did play the rest of the game but certainly came off the ice favoring a shoulder.

And yay for Crosby finally getting a empty net goal this year. He only has I think 7 in his career compared to Ovechkin's 22. Stamkos even has 8.

first goal of Crosby career against Hawks..There are two teams left he hasnt scored against..I believe its San Jose and St louis..(could be wrong , going from memory)

I think it was only his 3rd or 4th game against Chicago.

well naturally..I think he has scored like a bazillion goals against the Leafs

Bazillion is probably accurate. I also thought it was crazy that this was only the 2nd NHL matchup ever of Crosby vs. Toews. The first being their outdoor game.

Had bowling last night so I caught bits and pieces of the game. People here are freaking out at how this team is trending and I can't say I blame them. These games are essentially meaningless but I'd think you'd prefer your team to have momentum going into the playoffs. Historically teams don't exactly have the ability to turn it on.

This happened though so it's cool...Crosby gives Harrison a Rock Bottom after he attempts to elbow him in the head.

This team is unwatchable tonight.

Meaningless game, pre-season lineup, just awful.

Also, the Pens are at 506 man games lost due to injury now.

Get rid of Vokoun's games, so 78 or however many games the Pens have played.

That's still an average of well over 5 regulars out every game. EVERY GAME. FIVE. Crazy. (I think some of those man games are some AHL tweeners though, but the big numbers are from the better players).

I would have assumed, if you couldn't watch it for the Pens, you would at least be watching+entertained by seeing McKinnon skating around everyone whenever he wants.

PS- Meaningless? I THINK NOT!

Heh, I mentioned MacKinnon when I made a similar tweet about it.

I've been fairly bored by the Penguins lately. The team is garbage when Sid/Geno aren't on the ice. Not entertaining, anyways. Plus the games mean nothing to them or me. AHL, blah blah.

I did chuckle when I heard Ebbett. My first thought was "He's not in Austria/Switz/Albania playing pro hockey?!!?!?!"

I'm pretty sure the Underdogs still have Ebbett at like $3 though.

The Pens injuries couldn't have come at a better time for you, Arp.

Malkin out so Neal is stuck with, uh, non-Malkin players (albeit ok guys), and Crosby means no Stempbiak bump, and he was even demoted prior to the injury or whatever it is.

True, hadn't thought of that. Though sometimes some of the players step up+get more ice time, and manage to do even better. That would be hard to imagine in this case. Until you said it, didn't even realize.

Was too busy cursing Crosby sitting out, because I need him in my other high roller pool.

According to line rushing at the morning skate he, Kunitz, Matta, and Orpik are back but we haven't heard anything yet. Usually Bylsma will give some more info after the skate.

Shero did confirm that Letang is returning tonight though. Not sure what to think about that, he's medically cleared and the decision was made by Letang. Hopefully he has enough info to make an educated decision.

Ya, i was a little uneasy reading some of the bits of news on this....about how he+his family know the risks (hockey isn't going to cause it), and he really wanted to get out there. Even the way the team was quoted. Shero: We would have supported Kris in whatever he wanted to do. Health-wise he feels good. This was his decision.

My biggest fear is that hockey would increase his risk, but if he's just as susceptible to a stroke playing hockey as he is sitting at home, then I feel a lot better about hiim playing. I'm still gonna cringe when I see him get hit, though.

Didn't he have a stroke? I guess he's not taking blood thinners because hockey would put him at more of a risk of getting cut.

It's apprentaly been 10 weeks, what do you suggest, doctor?

10 weeks is not a long time for a stroke and usually they are on blood thinners for quite awhile and you shouldn't play hockey on blood thinners.

I hope they haven't taken him off the blood thinners too early in order to let him play.
