Well Its The End

I am officially done with online poker. I have taken my money off and wont deposit again. For over three years I have played online at various site winning and losing decent sums of money. I started at Party, with no clue how to play and a 150 dollar deposit I played for a few days at the low limits losing twenty or thirty dollars. After getting bored I played a 100 tourney and took seventh for 700 something, after that i was completely hooked. I would say in the long run I lost money online, at least even or up in live poker but the reason i am quiting isn't because I am broke its because it has consumed my life. All I thought about for the last few years was and is poker. It takes up so much of my free time and it has finally got to the point where I don't get that rush that I once did. At one point I played live 3/6 probably four or five days a week for months at a time. Now i can't even look at a 3/6 table and get excited. The dream of making decent scores is over for now. I am finishing school in five months and moving in with my fiancee. Some day I see myself getting involved in live poker again but right now it really doesn't interest me that much. Poker for me should have been a hobby but it became my life. Unless you are doing it for a living don't let it consume your life. I wish all the online players good luck as it seems the future is dim. To those live players good luck also but you have nothing to worry about. Someday once I have started my new career I will start playing live again at local casino as well as the occasional trip to vegas but for now I will just be an observer of the poker community. I will probably still hang around because I like to know what is going on in the poker world and I want to somehow how start a fantasy poker league that doesn't just pertain to the WSOP.Good luck,Sirch1

Well, if you no longer fell the love and drive to play poker, than no one can stop you. But I'll bet that you will some day play poker again. Maybe it won't be online, then again maybe it will be. But some day you will walk into a casino and feel the uncontrolable desire to sit down at a talbe. It can just be a casual hobby, there's not need that everybody who enjoys poker be a professional or devote their entire life for it. Just play it when you enjoy it. Don't force it if you're really not in the mood. Desire to play again most likely will return, that's my guess.

this makes a lot of sense. your education, family, etc are way more important than playing poker. good decision. you may start playing again a little in the future, but it is a good idea not to let it consume your life. i was playing all the time this summer after breaking up with my g/f and i had to stop for a while to get some balance in my life. good luck.***p,s. this is an essay by Samuel Johnson about finishing things that i really like:http://www.ourcivilisation.com/smartboard/...ns/lastidle.htmIt is very happily and kindly provided, that in every life there are certain pauses and interruptions, which force consideration upon the careless, and seriousness upon the light; points of time where one course of action ends and another begins; and by vicissitude of fortune, or alteration of employment, by change of place, or loss of friendship, we are forced to say of something, this is the last.

Congrats on your upcoming marriage and best of luck in whatever life bring you.I never like to see people leaving poker, but always like to see people who have an even head making good decisions for their lives.

I'll play again, it will just be in a while and it will be on the weekends, not the 10 hours every day

I can't believe no one has said it yet. You know what your problem is? You're playing 3/6 minbet at the casino!!!! Anyone who's had any live casino experience knows that 3/6 minbet is like bad beat central!!! Your good hands never hold up there. My advice is to move up to at least 10/20.

gl... a couple months ago, I stopped playing due to hanging out with a chick... just not enough time in the day to work, hang out with the girl and play poker... well I stopped hanging out with the chick, and now poker fills that void in my life... so sick...

quitters never win
it really never has been solely about winning or losing to me, i loved to play: when i was on that rush at 5/10 or that murderous cold streak at 20/40. money burns a whole in my pocket it always has. Its probably my parents fault for giving me everything.

not many options where i live, its either 30 dollar tournies-structure is terrible 1500 chips ten minute blinds, or 3/6. A decent 10/20 game or Omaha is like over two hours away at the Muckelshoot
