AussieAndy 0
I bolded out the parts I want to reply to.1) How can you say "in fact?" When you use a term like that you would have to actually back it up with fact. The statement you made isn't something you could ever prove to be true. 2) I believe in God and I believe that my life is better when I make God the center of it. Honestly, it wouldn't matter in the least what was happening in my life, winning, losing, whatever. When I don't make God a priority I'm not happy. So to answer your question, no, I wouldn't say that's the case at all. 3) I have failed to adapt to a new poker world? Did I seriously just read that? Not to brag dude, but seriously, I think very few people in the world could match my tournament record, ESPECIALLY in the modern era of poker. I've cashed in the last three consectutive WPT events with 500+ player fields, I once again, topped the million mark in tournament earnings in 06', and outside of the WSOP main event winners Ive won more money in tournament poker than anyone in the world. My record in modernized 10,000+ buy in events is unmatched. So once again, no, I don't believe that my results have been poor, and I don't believe that I've had any difficulty adapting to the "new" poker world.4) First of all, I'm actually not depressed at all. Writing the blog enabled me to get some things of my chest and the awesome response I got made me feel fantastic. Hearing so many other stories of people sharing the same kind of things was just awesome.I'd been praying for a while now for God to inspire me. I'm sure you've heard the saying, "God works in mysterious ways." Well, I am always aware of that, so when, or if, things don't seem to be going well in one area of my life I always have faith in the fact that God had a plan for me. I think the biggest error in your analysis is the amount of stress you put on doing well at poker. Do you honestly believe that I would be a happier person if I abandoned my hobbies, immersed myself into poker heavily, and won every single tournament in the world? That's not where true happiness comes from, whether you are a believer or not. In closing, the reason religious people go to God when they are unhappy is because that's exactly what they are called to do. Not to try and figure it out on their own, but to go to God with their problems. I understand that it's difficult for a non-believer to get how that works, but that's the reason that believers turn to God when they are unhappy.Couldnt have said it better myself Daniel , I think it was something out there that made you hit that send button . And as you said your wife was away for a couple of days so there was no consolidation there, but thousands of fans new he could lift you up !!!! "god works in mysterioous ways" . I hope that you have time to put a new video blog up before Tunica to let us know how you are really doing (just dont do the drunk act again or you will scare the crap out of us) . BluesBassist 0
Evolution is far from Scientific. It is a false science based on hypothesis and supposition, not facts. There are loads of evidences against Evolution.Really? Please direct me to published research in mainstream scientific literature which falsifies evolution. (Hint: no such research exists, because evolution is as accepted by the scientific community as relativity, quantum mechanics, and other fundamental scientific theories.)Many evolutionists have realized the flaws in their arguements over their years of studies. Let's look at three animals that evolutionists are unable to explain.1&2. The Zebra and Penguin. Where is the grey zone necessary for the evolution of what had to be a white and black species mating? Where are the white and grey penguin's and zebra's?3. The Bombadier Beetle. How does the first beetle come in contact with the two substances today's Bombadier Beetle has in its body without blowing itself up. http://www.aboundingjoy.com/beetle-fs.html Wow, what makes you think a particular pigmentation pattern must be produced by ancestors who had a monotone pigmentation of every color in the pattern? And even if that were true, how does that falsify evolution? You probably claim you are descended from your great-great grandparents. So, where are they? As far as the Bombardier Beetle goes, it hardly casts doubt upon evolution or is considered inexplicable by actual scientists: http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/bombardier.htmlIt's scary that there exist some people so brainwashed by their faith, they reject well-established, basic science. Most Christians accept the heliocentric model of the solar system, the old age of the Earth, and evolution, etc. It's the (often vocal) minority who don't which make all religious people look like idiots. DanielNegreanu 141
I'll clarify my question. Do you think there are parts of poker that are wrong Christians?Personally, I don't see how tournament poker is any different that any other tournaments you have to pay to get into, for example, a fishing tournament. Playing cash poker is more of a question. Generally, in Christianity poker is considered gambling which is considered to be wrong scripturally, though to be honest I don't know chapter and verse that proves that. I'm sure it would be easy to look up online, and I will. I am skeptical about how much modern Christians understand about what is really right and wrong because the vast majority have been "taught" what is traditionally accepted interpretations of scripture and haven't actually learned with their own study what is correct. These days if you want the truth we must go into scripture and learn what the truth is alone with the guiding of the Holy Spirit because. in my opinion, what we have been taught is mixed with a lot of man made ideas that are false. That said, the question is, is gambling wrong for a Christian, and is poker always gambling, therefore is poker wrong for Christians?I don't know if I clarified the question or not, but I sure put whats been rattling around in my head since I started playing poker in puzzle pirates out in the open. You will not find even one verse in the bible that says playing poker is wrong. I've looked for one, but it's just not there. In fact, there is evidence of God himself accepting a wager from the devil. Of course, he knew he couldn't lose, but a bet is a bet and he made one in the book of Job. They also talk of casting lots, which is another form of gambling. If playing poker for a living were wrong for a Christian, than so would being a stock broker, NBA Basketball player, restaurant owner, a mortgage broker, and several other jobs where you get paid for being better at something than your adversaries. I could go into detail on this, but I've done that several times on here. I'm sure a search would find it.

I was referring to wadems quote earlier in this post and I was asking him to not ask us believers to "grow up and get a life".You can obviously believe whatever you like as can I.Cheers.As respectfully as I can, let me just say that across the scientific community, and much of the world, evolution is accepted as scientific law on a par with the existence of gravity. By referring to "evolutionists" and incorrectly capitalizing "Evolution" you purposefully connote it negatively. What is your belief on how life emerged? Is it not based on "hypothesis and supposition"? In science, every idea starts out as hypothesis, which is then rigorously tested over time with results judged dispassionately and objectively. Your post is inherently subjective and biased and is therefore wholly unscientific itself. If you truly want to persuade others to your posistion, this is a poor way to do so. Balloon guy 158
Actually I did find something (see bold - verse 11-12)1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was [a] formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. 6 And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." 7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the expanse "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day. 9 And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "seas." And God saw that it was good. 11 Then God said, "Let man play poker: draw, stud, and omaha but no Texas hold'em for it is the game of the devil and he who follows the devil will not walk beside me in heaven." And it was so. 12 The games made man happy and God saw that it was good.13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day. 14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day. I know you were just joking but Rev 22:18-19"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book." I could go into detail on this, but I've done that several times on here. I'm sure a search would find it.Asking myself this question has motivated me to look in scripture to see whats really there. I don't think you can use the apostles casting lots to justify making poker ok because wherever they cast lots they weren't gambling, they were casting lots to make decisions, kinda like drawing straw. I also don't think you can compare poker with those occupations stated above because they all provide a service or product for fair compensation. Stock trading is the buying and selling of companies, not gambling as so many like to say. Yes there is a risk, but the risk is based on the fair exchange of good and services and risk is not condemned in scripture or considered sinning, like coveting, lying and stealing.I'm not sure what wager God accepted from the devil. Are you referring to the temptation of Christ? There Satan was saying, fall down and worship me and all this can be yours.I'm still not too sure about tournament poker being any different than say tournament fishing, but then there is the issue of lying, coveting and stealing, aka in poker as bluffing and uh... coveting and stealing. When it comes down to justifying poker by using examples in scripture, most of the justification is coming from taking scripture out of context. There is a billion wrong things you can justify if you take scripture out of context.I'm not trying to be critical. I just want to know if it is REALLY right or wrong without being judgmental, but at the same time looking at the facts honestly and not fooling myself. You said that your nothing without God in your life. I'm interested if your willing to look at God's truth accurately even if it eventually shows you that poker is wrong and displeasing to God.

Not rewritten. Theres a big difference. Also, how in the world did we get on the subject of evolution? Besides the fact that if you actually study the science behind the "THEORY" of evolution its just ridiculous, I agree that this is not the place to decide whether evolution is in fact real, but its too fun to explain what evolution really is and hear the people who believe in it blow a gasket. So here goes. I actually took 2 full semesters in college on the evolution vs creation conflict. Involved in those classes were in depth study of the mathematics and original details of the "THEORY" of evolution, and anyone who looks at that information would laugh its so ridiculous. This is a good example of what evolution claims. Take a pair of shoes and set them out for 10 million years and they will evolve into a bicycle, and if you give it millions of years to interact with its environment it will eventually turn into a 2007 Volkswagen GTI, and then if you give the VW another few million years to interact with the environment it will evolve into a leer jet, and then a space shuttle and so on. Its so silly I marvel at the millions of people that fool themselves by believing in it so strongly. The mathematics of evolution is the pink elephant of ridiculousness as well. crowTrobot 2
I actually took 2 full semesters in college on the evolution vs creation conflict.assuming it was recently you obviously went to a christian college of some kind. you will not find any such class taught at a mainstream university, because there is no conflict. there are only those with pre-existing creationist agendas to make MONEY (sell books, keep their teaching jobs at christian universities, keep getting christian grants for their museums etc.) that perpetuate that a conflict exists. if there was no money involved biblical literal-creationism would have died out years ago. Involved in those classes were in depth study of the mathematics and original details of the "THEORY" of evolution, and anyone who looks at that information would laugh its so ridiculous. Courtsdad 0
No hes wrong. It has been translated and you guys have watched the DaVinci Code a few too many times.Once again incorrect. It is historical FACT that the bible has been selectively rewritten."In 1604, King James of England called a conference at Hampton Court. In attendance were 47 scholars and clerics. The agenda was to organize the production of a bible that would satisfy the needs of all -- the clergy, the king, the common man. An ambitious goal, considering the widely disparate points of view each with a political investment.""The King James Version first appeared in 1611. Though the frontispiece written by the conference declares it to be a new translation, that's not really what it was. In fact, it was a revision of the Bishop's Bible of 1602, which itself was a revision of the Bishop's Bible of 1568, which was a revision of Coverdale's less than scholarly Great Bible, which was a rewrite of the Tyndale and Wycliffe bibles which themselves had been translated on the run.The King James Version did not gain immediate acceptance. It took a half century to displace the bibles that came before it, especially the Great Bible from which it was descendant, and the notorious Geneva bible of the masses which influenced it."Historical fact. Not knocking your beleifs but you may want to study history a little more.Do you really beleive that no religious writings would be rewritten based on whos in charge and what their agenda may be?Beleive what you like but at least get verifiable facts correct. Its not a secret. There is a huge creationist movement, and for a good reason, and its very very far from the entire scientific community that believe in evolution and its shrinking very quickly - except for on television. The more science advances the more creation becomes more feasible scientifically and evolution looks more and more ridiculous like it is. The world is full of people who don't think for themselves. They just believe everything the department of education, their high school teachers and the discovery channel says without looking at the information themselves, and then spew it out like you are, like its fact, which it isn't. Not even close. If you evolutionists think we Christians are narrow minded you should look in the mirror sometime.I guarantee that you know nothing about evolution that you didn't learn in high school or from watching tv, which is the case with 99% of all people who believe in evolution. I challenge you to find a real mathematician, or even a real evolution scientist (you'll have a tough time because contrary to popular belief - there are hardly any of them) and have him calculate the odds that evolution could have happened, (I'll tell you now that they already have) and then do the exact same calculations for my above example. My example vs evolution. It will be very very close, and heres the reason. They are both made up.Go ahead!! Pick up a book. I dare you!! Don't blather on about what you've been taught. Go look, but get ready for a surprise, because modern scientific discoveries and technology point toward a definite creative power.
