CodyDean 0
Hey guys I'm a pro poker player from B.C. and am thinking of moving to Montreal but cannot seem to spot any glimpse of a poker scene over there. There is no poker room in the Casino De Montreal and from what I've heard, the closest mainstream poker room is in Brantford. Where Dn played in his younger years? Anyways, it's about (6) hours from where I'd be living. I'm wondering if anyone knows of an underground poker scene in Montreal. CheersCodyDean*edit - I am 20 years old so I do not play in the U.S. yet

CodyDean 0
Biggest poker room in BC = plenty of fish. But that's in 1/2. When it comes to the 3/6 and 5/10 NL games it's the usuals.

CheersCodyDean*edit - I am 20 years old so I do not play in the U.S. yetI have been studying the poker movement in Montreal for almost 3 years now.Legally you're SOL. There is a big underground scene for games with the froggies but I do not have access anymore. It used to be quite easy until the big bust. Seems a fellow was increasing the traffic to these games by putting them online...it was great for business until the cops took it down.Yeah, 6-7 hours is about the right estimate to go to Brantford but why would you go there? There's Port Perry which will save you 1.5-2 hours or if you're willing to drive to Brantford then go right to Niagara. It's about the same length of time with a much better spread of games. If poker's your source of income, do yourself a favour and stay where you can find a legal game without a 6-hour drive. Going to upstate NY casinos is going to involve a commute through some crap weather once it starts snowing.BC has got to be one of the better places in Canada for a professional to play...ps: If you can't find an underground game in whatever city you're in, you either smell of bacon or are not trying hard enough. longdistance 0
Hi,I'm from montreal and play at a few underground clubs here. The scene had dried up about 2 years ago thanks to a bust, but it is back now and growing. We all hold out hope that sooner rather than later the casino adds hold em, but dont hold your breath. Several locals died doing this. There are many poker players in Montreal, and several who are very good and will be making a big impact soon. It is a scene that could be huge but the cops and robbers stymied it a bit.For poker Montreal is not ideal, but for a city it is second to none. You can send me a PM if you want to know more. (ive never gotten a PM, but I do see people talkin about pm's so they must work.)GLLongdistanceP.S. I cant believe I posted something....I never post

Yes, BC is the best place to play, but I like change. I'm sure I'll be back to BC soon but for now, I have a certain opportunity in Montreal I would like to take advantage of but I need to find a promising place to play poker before I book a flight. If I were already there, that would be a different story. Finding a game isn't hard if you're in the area..and of course..you don't smell like bacon. Cheers
