Thoughts On Wsop Schedule

Recommended Posts

Ok. I saw the schedule for the WSOP. First off I must say that I like the wide array of events. If I play every event I want to play, I will have to put up over 50k to play. 1/2 Omaha 1/2 Stud Hi Low rocks. I am so glad your adding that. PL Omaha 8 or better is another great addition.1/2 Limit Holdem 1/2 NL Holdem......I honestly dont know what to think on that one yet. Id have to see a structure sheet.SHOE!!! That is going to be a great tourney. The Razz haters are probably pleased.2 stud Hi Lo events!!! By far my favorite game. 5 PM start times!!!!!! It is obvious that poker players had some input here. A bunch of the mixed games are later in the evening which is great for me. Also, I like the fact that the events arent as bunched together as last year. Thats a blessing AND a curse however for those of us staying out here any amount of time. The thing I am most impressed with regarding this schedule is the fact that out of 54 events, only 24 are NL holdem, and thats including the Women, Seniors, and the Mixed 1/2 Limit 1/2 NL games. It truly looks like a schedule befitting a world series of POKER. My only gripe is putting the first Omaha 8 / Stud 8 event at 5 pm the day before the first Limit Holdem event. However, thats just a PERSONAL gripe based on the fact I will have to choose an event....which of course Limit Holdem will win out.I still wish there was a 5 Card Draw event. I know its mostly a dead game casino wise, but so is Razz for the most part and it is spread. Its going to be a great year at the WSOP. Looking forward to it.

Daniel,It was more than obvious with that schedule that some poker players talked some sense into these people. I actually counted the NL events 3 times to make sure I wasnt missing something. This year when the floor people start cursing my name when I start asking for all the mixed satellites I can go "Blame Canada!! I mean Daniel!!"Jimmy Summerfields wife is running the Satellites at the Grand this month. (Where I am playing at currently) She is supposed to work at the series, but once she hears about all the mixed games at the series, she will probably retire. :-)

Hey Daniel,I have an idea, I'd love your reaction to:What if the WSOP had a new "World Championship Event" for ROOKIES. The Rookie Bracelet! You could only enter this event if you had NEVER competed in a WSOP event before. You get ONE shot at the Rookie Bracelet! The 1st event every year would be a $1,000 buy in for 1st timers. This could become an incredibly "Valuable" and "prestigious" title to have claimed. Just a thought, what do y'all think? Daniel?

This schedule is a refreshing departure from the "World Series of Hold'em" schedules of the past couple of years. I'm glad to see some more variety and glad to see they kept the $50,000 HORSE event. Of course, it's really going to suck when the fields are about a tenth the size they were last year due to the lack of online qualifiers.

Daniel with the increase of the 50k horse form a 3 day to 5 day event is the structure gonna be a little slower this year? And is the final table gonna be HORSE or NLH. Watching the FT recently Reese and Bloch both looked tottally spent at the end and the caliber of poker being played suffered so hopefully no 19 hour sessions.

that just means you have to win it
nah, DN didn't say that he actually pushed for that event to ensure that i would be getting a bracelet in 2007. nice guy, that one. :club:

There would be no way to find out if anyone is a rookie or not. I mean have the kept detailed records of everyone from 25 years? Probably not. Plus with how disfunctional the WSOP is, they have a lot more to worry about than that.
