In the movie Rounders with Matt Damon, theres this part almost halfway into the movie, where he speaks to Professor Petrovski at a bar. Mike McD (Damon) says something along the lines of "You wanna start with premium hands. Jacks or better split, and nines are better wired, or 3 high cards to a flush."I know hes talking about starting stud hands, but what does Jacks or better split mean? Does nines are better wired mean pair of 9s with a connecting suited card? For example 998, with 98 being diamonds.?Im posting this here and not the stud board because theres much more traffic here. Thanks =)

In stud, you have two down cards and one up card to start.Jacks split is the following...Downcards: J , AUpcard: J99's or better wired is the following...Downcards: 99Upcard: AnythingSo "wired" cards are your down cards that are paired. Split pairs are when you have a down card that pairs your up card.Hope that made sense.

Easily my favortie scene in the whole movie. "I dont blame you. You get a guy like me in a game like that and the cards dont even matter. Ill play it blind."

You know old school cardspeak. Well done. I beamed seeing these terms are still in circulation at least in knowledge.

With the poker boom you would think someone would make another good poker movie. Instead we get terrible poker scenes like in Casino Royale
