threeparrots 0
Last weekend I was playing Casino Windsor $1-$2 NLHE. At around 2:30am I noticed my girlfriend and her friend poking their heads around the entrance to the poker room so I headed over. Both were drunk and asked for $20 for a cab home. I had rebought and didn't have any cash on hand, only debit, so I told them I'd grab some chips off the table and give them that. I go to my table and explain the situation and boy, was there an uproar. I had roughly $750 in front of me at this point and said, "Well, if I can't take $20 I have have to leave the game". Now, every time I've seen a player want to take money off the table (give to friend mostly) the dealer had left it up to the players. These dudes wouldn't let me take $20 off the table but DID make me take $750 off. I thought it was fair, since that was my only option.Am I wrong? And no, I don't let them walk home. I would suspect that I would not have a problem letting $20 walk off the table in favour of keeping the other $730 ON. Honestly, what gives?

Pot Odds RAC 23
In response to your very thinly disguised brag post, cash on the table stays on the table. The only exception I have ever seen is tipping a cocktail waitress.
quadaces 0
Yeah its kind of a tricky rule. It's never good to let someone take money off the table but better to let $20 off than $700+. I was playing live a few months ago and we started out playin $4-8 LHE people started leaving and the table was going to break up and someone mentioned they would stay and play NL so we started a game up and they had a $100 max buy in. They basically took about $1000 off the table by not letting us just change the game. We all had to buyin for $100 or less....some people actually bought in for the min. $40. Very bad IMO

The only exception I have ever seen is tipping a cocktail waitress. It was a half-retarded human filled table, so it's not fair to brag. Isn't tipping a waitress the same as taking money off the table to put into a candy machine downstairs? Isn't this the same as taking money off the table to give to a friend for a cab? Didn't I mention that the dealers generally left it up to the players? Wait.. yes!
BeaverStyle 1
In response to your very thinly disguised brag post, cash on the table stays on the table. The only exception I have ever seen is tipping a cocktail waitress.I've played at windsor, and If I ever get a beer, I usually pay w/ 1 $5 chip, off the table... I know it's not right, but $5 isn't really that meaningful for my stack, and no one usually notices anyway. Even if they did, I don't think they'd get too pissed. And this is a disguised brag post, it seems, cuz if they thought they could win some of their money back from you, they'd let you take off $20 and keep your $730 on the table. NH. Orcasgt22 0
I have had it happen at my casion too, similar situation, way less in front(like 300) and it was 15 for a dinner+beer+tip. Table got pissed and the dealer looked around and said players can spend table stake as long as its small.
showstopper24 0
you shouldn't really take money off the table, but it seems to me like it wasn't a substantial amount and your friends did need it

Allie 0
Any pokerrooms I've ever played in, you can't take money off the table, except for (as previously mentioned) tipping, or buying food from the casino. Period.

finztotheleft 0
They were correct, but it does sound silly in this case. Problem is, if they let you, then anyone could for any reason. Was the seat still free ? I would have bought back in for $100. I'm a nit. (Or is it like online were you have to buy in for the same amount you l eft with for the next 20 minutes?)

Scanner313 0
Sounds to me like they wanted you to leave. Any jackhole who would nitpick over $20 leaving a stack of $750 has got some other reason to be complaning. Take it as a compliment and move on.

Fidler0 0
In my experiences, it's basically left up to the players. A few months ago i was at Foxwoods to play a $1,100 tournament. Got there early to play 2-5NL for a few hours, and was up to $2,100 or so when registration started. I only had $800 cash in my pocket..and i hate ATM fees with a passion...so i asked my table if i could remove $300 from the table to register for the tournament. No one had a problem with it.Here's a tip: be friendly to your tablemates, and they'll be friendly back.My guess is that the people either disliked you for some reason, or they are just complete d*cks

Also if you remove $ or leave the table, you need to wait an Hour before reseating.
Socrates 0
1/2 pretty much sumsit up. Game full of douchebags that are trying to be all hardcore poker players with the "money can't leave the table" issue. It's a 1/2 game, somone should point that out to them, even if they were to win your 750, its not like that's a ton of cash.
