IP Casino in Biloxi... I would like some thoughts on the way I played the hand especially after the flop. this isnt a brag post or BB post my friend who was at the table with me told me I played the river bad, and would like thoughts from you guys.1/2NLStacksUTG: $200 (just re brought after going busto with set vs. set on flop) fairly tight player doesn’t get too involved in hands unless he has the goods.Button: $575 (me, been fairly active recently picking up small pots without showdowns)BB: $600 (pretty loose, he won the set vs. set hand over UTG)UTG raises to 12Folds to me at the button and I decide to just call with 7/8clubsSB foldsBB callsPot: 36Flop 9c 10c JcBB leads for 25UTG: calls 25me: Calls 25... (Should I have raised, or is a call ok here in this spot)Pot $111Turn: 2 hBB checksUTG bets $80 (he only has like $83 left)Me: Calls $80 (Should I again have raised or is calling ok)BB: foldsPot: $271River QcUTG: checksMe: Can we bet this river card?? or should we check behind him.. UTG really hasn’t played alot of hands bad and with his PF raise I thought he might have a hand like A/A, A/K or K/K with one club (I was thinking the A of c)...... I thought for a few mins and decided to make a small bet of $40 (that if he moves in I would call), and he instantly said all in.Final pot: $437Did I play the hand ok? after the river check I was thinking I should of checked behind but went with my gutResults in white:UTG showed Kd Kc

I'm thinking that you didn't really do anything wrong in this hand, I mean it is very plausable that one of these two guys is sticking around with the Kc but even if they do they are obviously dead to one out. I don't mind slowplaying a three way pot when i know that the worst case scenario is that they're dead to one out. When it gets heads up and he checks to you, I wouldn't bet 40 because if he has the Ac he might just call instead of raising his last 43. But checking the river just has to be a -EV play considering it is very plausable that he has the Ac and makes the call and theres always the off chance that he makes a really bad call with a straight. I just don't think theres enough information for you to be able to put him on a Kc even though i agree the river check smells fishy. With that said, whenever I have a killer instinct about something I find that going against that instinct usually doesn't end well. So i DO think you can check if your instincts are pounding you over the head but i think if you played this hand a thousand times, you make a lot more money with a bet.

I dont like the turn or river.....bet out quickly on the turn as if to want to get rid of people, itd probably get you a couple calls, Id bet maybe a little less than half the pot or so. River: the 40 bet can and did induce an all in...therefor knowing the player you thought itd work, so nice job. In general a value bet should be a little higher than that. Nice hand!

Thanks, everyone said at the table that its a autocheck river and I could of saved 83 bucks. I dont know but is it really an autocheck river? I don't think so but I was told it was..

Terrible.Your opponent instantly c/r'd allin. This is such an obvious fold; maybe if he does a crying call, illustrated by a doomed expresion in conjunction with 'the sigh'... the call would then make sense. This is a bad beat post and you know it is. Want a cliched response?'That's poker, kid'Btw, you played the hand fine. You wanted to give the BB some rope to hang herself one the flop which justifies calling. You could raise the turn, making it look like an isolation/position play... but i think it is neg EV and would probably call the turn as well, again hoping to price the BB in if she has something marginal.Obv you're pushing the river... even if the bb calls. Hope she has the A :club:

Wow, I hope TraptSteve was joking....You played the hand fine, and I don't ever see how auto-checking the river with a straight-flush(even the butt end) is ever the correct play. He's easily putting the rest of his money in with AcKx on that river, but I think you should just put him in rather than bet tiny. If he can call the $40 then he can call $83, and you wouldn't have to worry about "what's he c/r'ing the river with?!?". Call me a donkey if, not giving your opponent credit for holding the only card in the deck that beats you, is a bad play. Conclusion: the hand played itself, but just put him in on the river next time.

After turn bet by villian you gotta but him on AA, KK, or AK definitely with a big club. The turn is where I wanna get my money in but its going in on the river either way. Push the river even though the river card sucks.

Flop 9c 10c JcBB leads for 25UTG: calls 25me: Calls 25... (Should I have raised, or is a call ok here in this spot)
I raise the flop; I don't care what anyone else says. I put more money in this pot every chance I get. You might have raised KK out with that flop. Maybe not. I push the turn. KK has to leave then. Ends up you got coolered. Sorry about that. It happens.

You don't tell me much here. Is this table 3 handed? you flopped a straight with and oesfd. Get some money in the pot earlier. How many players are at the table matter imo a lot for this hand. Also, who is saying don't bet this river? Dude who has been betting the whole way all of a sudden checks to you. I bet the pot so you can actually get paid reasonably from the Ac. If he shoves, you're obv committed.Unlucky.Mark
