Booking a spring break trip and thinking about booking at the Gold Coast. I wanted some input about the place as a hotel. We're thinking about staying there because of its next to the Palms and the Rio, and I believe the Rio has a free shuttle that goes at least to other Harrahs casinos which will get us to a lot of places on the strip. We like it because the price is low, but that could also mean the rooms are bad. I've walked through the casino before and it didn't appear to be a complete dump.

The place used to have a sewer odor from the buffet area... I was in there a few weeks ago and it seemed to be less noticeable.Good valet service...friendly staff...never been in a room to comment there. The bar area in the back is close to restrooms and the bandstand. Good music there on the weekends....usually.Table games lack most of the cheezy scams like 6-5 BJ.... they are close to the center bar with TV's to watch.Bloody Marys are close to the best I've ever sampled... The joint reminds me of New Orleans for some reason... but lacking in overall atmosphereBeans casino rating- 2.5 stars outta 5

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about the same. played some table games there and thought about playing poker. Seemed like they had a decent size poker room but allowed smokers (after ??? drinks at the palms). Really, I think it might be a great idea to stay there but I hope we dont show up and find that the room is worth what we payed for it :club:

How much time you really spend in your room? As long as it's reasonably clean and has hot water...meh, good enough for me. Stayed at Binions Horseshoe last time i was there....cheap, rooms were acceptable. But in the old downtown, of course, not on the strip.

Yeah, I've stayed at Binion's too. Bunch of crazy drunks in the poker room.

I stayed at Binions once too. There was this loud wild crazy group of people there who seemed like they were having the time of their life. I can't believe that they would let in that kind of rift-raft.

Ok, heres Beans top five list of casinos in Vegas that you can get away with almost anything....5) Stratosphere: This slots are so tight in this joint that when someone screams... a crime is usually in progress. Loud patrons are so rare that the pit critters are known to comp full RFB's to anyone that screams in response to a blackjack on a $5 bet. 4) Golden Gate: This joint just wont die. The security guards hang out between the restrooms for some reason, and main duties include keeping the bums from Fremont outta there. Drunk women can do most anything they please, including a boob flash to the general public. I tried it once to much less positive response.3) Gold Spike: If you're wearing a shirt that was removed AND washed within the last six months, you are considered a high-roller and can ask for pretty much anything you desire. Loud and unruly patrons at the penny slots are treated much worse than in the "High Limits" quarter area. Play a dollar machine for more than two minutes and streaking is not only possible, but encouraged.2) Western Casino: Add various items like dirty needles on the floor, public prostitution in the ladies room, a turd on the floor and one in your burger to the description of the Spike and you'll see why its #2 (in more ways than one).1) The Plaza: I've seen more stuff in this place than anywhere on earth. When you factor in this includes most third world countries, you'll understand to get kicked out of this place you'll have to commit a SERIOUS crime....to humanity. Maybe the universe. Its no surprise to most of you that this is my favorite place.

I stayed at the Gold Coast for 11 days during the wsop last summer. The room was clean and had a decent television mounted on the wall. Bathroom was small but I didn't care. I was on a budget, and got the room for an avg of $44 per night (including a weekend). For the wsop, it was perfect, since it is a pretty easy walk to the Rio. The poker room was pretty active during that time as well -- lot's of wsop dealers, players, and reporters playing into the wee hours of the morning. If I make it out there this year, it will be my first choice for hotels (best bargain/close to Rio).As for a Spring Break trip, you need to weigh the advantages/disadvantages of strip hotels vs non-strip hotels.

Just booked it for four nights. I think we'll have fun no matter what the rooms are like. Also found out that we will be there for half of the opening round games for the NCAA as an added bonus. We all decided that we must play craps and do some sports betting while we are there since we haven't engaged in these activities on any previous trips. One of my buddies says we have to hit up one of the clubs at the Palms. Are these actually good places or would it be better to just find one on the strip? I'm not really a big fan of these types of places where drinks are ten bucks, especially when there are all the free drinks I want right in the casino.

It's Vegas, thats the norm on the Strip for drinks. Be baller: get a table and bottles. Or just get real shitty before the club and nurse the same drink all night long.

if you're on a budget but want to stay on the strip then the best deal is Imperial which is located right across from Caesars and in the heart of the Vegas strip.

I realize that we are going to pay an arm and a leg for drinks at any club, but I've heard that the places at the Palms are awesome according to my buddy. (plus its going to be right across the street so we can stumble into our rooms)

Jesus!! You must be going on some crazy peak time.I think you can do better than that, seriously. Just do the Casino Gold special, it's like 85 on weekends and 65 on weekdays. For a deluxe room.http://www.imperialpalace.com/stay.php?sub...p;contentid=284

You're gonna be in town for the best week in Vegas.Brace yourself....ITS BEANS BIRTHDAY WEEK!!!!Yes, you heard correctly.... the entire week will be non stop gambling and drinking in Sin City. I think most important places will still be open, but all state/government offices will close in respect. In fact, all flags will be flown at half mast to morn another year wil ole Beans.Since I'm getting half-timers disease due to being mid to late 30's, send me a pm a few day before you arrive and we'll have a few drinks to celebrate. I'll more than likely be too drunk to speak clearly, but my assistant keeps a close eye on me most of the time and can answer pms and such.Or, you could just go the RonMex route and rudely not accept my invitation....

holy crap...are you staying in their penthouse suite??okay, i should've mentioned before that you do NOT want to stay on the main floor ESPECIALLY by the parking lot. that is a danger zone and can be quite scummy. so don't get the cheapest possible rooms.but you can easily get a decent room for $50-60 a night. this place may not look great but the rooms are clean and the showerheads have the most pressure in Vegas AINEC.

Hopefully you looked into this.
I booked it through their site the other day. I am not sure if I can call and change it now. I will try if I get a chance. Bummer...

Don't see why you couldn't cancel. Most places it's 24 hour notice.Calling is much better than anything online, they have deals they don't even advertise sometimes. But yeah, call and get that instead, you also get some buffet coupons and a sweet lanyard for your players card! lol. :club:
