timwakefield 68
A few thoughts: The lightbulb was invented by Thomas Edison, who was born in Ohio. His father was born in Canada, and his heritage was Dutch.Insulin is a hormone which occurs naturally in the body. I believe it was discovered or isolated by 2 Canadians. From the Wikipedia list of Canadian inventions, the greatest are probably Olivia Poole's invention of the Jolly Jumper, and Gideon Sundback's improvement on the zipper.Jolly Jumper
CobaltBlue 662
Uhh...Alexander Graham Bell was technically Scottish, and Edison (while being overrated) did actually make the breakthrough with the lightbulb. So...I gotta go with insulin.

It was invented by a Canadian and Edison purchsed the patent for $5000.Insulin IS a natural hormone that occurs in the body, but the insulin that treats millions daily is not exactly the same as the hormone. That would be like saying the artificial heart is not an invention because hearts occur naturally in the body.Blue Jays > Red Sox

Jadaki 0
Is this supposed to be some type of Canadian ego boost thread?
digitalmonkey 929
Is this supposed to be some type of Canadian ego boost thread? No, it's a thread that asks a question. It's funny that so many Americans take things so personally!
Dirtydutch 8
This is very cool. So, Canadians, if you haven't done anything with your life, this is a quasi-sweet piece of national pride for you to hang your hat on, and really feel good about yourself. In a way, it's like YOU invented the Telephone. Cool.

It's a question people; a simple question about 3 Canadian inventions. If your American ego is that delicate maybe you can start a thread about the three greatest American inventions. Dirtydutch 8
Complex?I'm not sure I follow?[Edit] To be clear, I'm not flaming you, I'm just making an unsolicited, sarcastic comment about nationalism. (These this often turn into "**** Americans!" "**** Canadians!" pretty fast.)
Mercury69 3
I would've gone with Pam Anderson.Um...no...skank and stank were American inventions. Pam is an anomaly and should be calling Detroit her hometown.
