First Casino Experience

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I had the pleasure of having my first casion experience with distiger and cobaltblue this past wednesday. Due to my limited bank roll and lack of casino play i decided to sit down at some 3/6 Limit so things wouldn't get to crazy. Needless to say for any poker player it was an amazing experience. First hand i was early position with AKos. I raise and have a few callers. Flop AKx (Rainbow I believe). 3 players and it checks around to me I bet late position folds and the BB just calls. turn x I bet BB calls. River also an x so I bet again BB calls and flips over AQos. Needless to say I had the shakes thru out the flop. Not terribly noticeable but im sure all of you remember your first casino experience. I just remember disc and cobalt looking over with this look like "you're up already??". Another great hand i was on the button with duces. This guy had just sat down in middle position. He raised preflop I called and I believe the BB called as well. Flop was AJ2 (rainbow). Started getting nervous again because it was still one of my first hands playing. Middle postion bets I raise and he just calls. Turn is an X I bet Middle position calls. River an X I bet Middle position calls me down. Show down... He has AJ to my set of duces for another big pot to me. I think im sittin up 80 bucks or so right now so im feelin pretty good. Another hand that started to slow me down I think I had AT late position. One of the blinds called me down when the flop brought two spaids and AT. So I bet out with top two pair. Turn was a rag I bet he calls. River brings out the 3rd spaid. Im just thinking, "Are you kidding me??". So I check he bets and im thinking to myself i know he has it but im gonna call to see. He flips over T4 of spaids. I mean its not as bad as i thought having middle pair with a flush draw but needless to say I had to leave the table. After comming back I hit some nice hands I hit a boat of aces full of jacks against this older girl early position for a nice size pot. I was fine up until this point. I had JT os on the button one player limped early position (an old guy who just sat down) so I call the sb folds and BB checks. Flop comes KQ9. I say to myself "I have the nuts" So I bet bb quickly gets out of the way. Early position calls. turn x I bet early position calls. River brings a T i don't even think about it and I bet early position calls. I flip over my king high straight and early position flips over j2. This was a nice size pot and would have set me up over 100 dollars at the table. I said nice hand but what i implied was "you're a ******!".I had never understood how splitting a pot could set someone on tilt like wednesday night. I had been playing for a couple more hours trying to hit with some poket pairs and AK and didn't hit. I wake up with AT on the button again tons of action on the hand with 4 players. 2 of the four players were all in. BB caps me on the turn and i believe the flop was ATK turn was a queen and the river was a Jack. I should have slowed down with that many cards on the table but i was on tilt from the JT hand. We all flip over on the show down. He flips over j2 on BB and the other two guys that were all in call with jack rags. I was about to go irate... the same guy hit me twice for huge pots. I picked up my chips and cashed out. Supprisingly I was still up 29 bucks! I was quite pleased. Kept thinking about some of the bad beats but thats just poker and limit poker at that. It was a great experience and it was nice playing ahead instead of worrying about digging out of a whole the entire time. Thank you very much disctiger and cobaltblue. I will never forget the experience and all that you've tought me.~Justin

While I have taught this kid a little about poker, I definitely need to pass on some information on forming paragraph's :icon_doh:The post reminds me of one of those spammer posts with tons of different links side by side for the whole page....anybody else feel a wee bit cramped?

BBFIDTSSounds a little better than my first live poker experience. I was the first one out in a rebuy tournament 20 minutes into the tournament. Of course I didn't realize it was a rebuy tournament until the dealer yells out player down and half the field is like already??

Nice work Steenos. Nothing like your first time. Feeling that kinda dry resistant fricti......whoops, got a little off track there. I remember my first time...sigh...I was so inexperienced I didn't reraise AA in 1/2 NL game. Somehow though, I was smart enough to lay it down on the turn when there was a straight out there and a bet, and then a raise, as one of them had the straight. I still think about not reraising preflop and just have to laugh. A couple hands later I got KK and didn't reraise again...jesus I'm laughing as I type this. Three spades flopped, one of the big stacks from that AA hand bet, so I took a second and looked at my cards, saw that I had no spade, and reraised him. He mucked. That was about it.Two hours later, busto! with AK, the only hand I reraised with preflop by shoving. And my cherry was popped.rebuy (I mean edit) - No hands were shaking, only the heart beating like I had just blown a rail of fishgill.

Guarantee he is reading that acronym and thinking "what the f***??"As for the session, surely he'll learn eventually that just because the only pots we remember are the ones we lose, doesn't mean that we have to tell everybody. As for my first time....Well, the only 2 times I've played live I got a serious case of the shakes when I entered the first couple pots of my sessions. Anybody else have this problem? I'll just say I play too much online....

did I mention I had already been playing for 4 hours or so without getting up? I didn't "leave" the table. I just got up and walked around and saw how disc and cobalt were doing. I guess I didn't clarify what i meant by leaving the table

four hours is nothing live. i do 12 or 13 before i get into the swing of things. i suppose it's acquired.my hands still shake the first pot of the session. i didn't have a winning session at the casino for my first 8 or 9 trips. feel blessed.
