Rich People Beliveing In God

Recommended Posts

it is very easy for a rich person/somone in a normal household and a normal life to belive in god... and i hate it when rich christians say they love jesus and this and that and are in touch with their faith...ok now lets say that same rich person lost their legs or something horrible like that... i dont think they would love jesus anymore...and anothr perfect example of my point..when i used to go to school there was this rich girl named sarah i mean she was all happy and telling people about how christ loves them and how you need christ in ur life and this and that... anyway she would end up loseing her cat in a freak accident and the next day after ti happend she kept saying screw jesus if there was a god how did he let this happen..**** god and she remained that way until i quit school that just shows how its easy to be rich and have faith but if if ur life sucks or something happens to u u turn the other way lol and im sure alot of the people that read this post are the same way and would turn on jesus/god in a second

O.K. I like how because you know a person that turned on God that was rich equates to many people on this site would do the same thing. Now THAT is real faith.

Actually, it states in the Bible that it is very difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. But the Christians with the strongest faith are in the very poorest conditions where they are forced to depend on him for their survival. Calcutta, has not only has some of the poorest people in the world, they also have the happiest and most faithful.

Well, yes you are right, and Jesus agrees with you, thats we he stated in the Bible that it would be easier for a camal to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Unless they tithe a significant portion of their wealth to the church of course. the stairway to heaven is carpeted with gold woven from the sacrifice of rich and poor alike.

Easy for rich people to believe in God? I expect the opposite. For a rich person it will seem like there is no point for God. Typically, the rich assume they alone got them where they are, without God's help. They dont need a God, everything appears nice and dandy. When poor people aren't happy, it's usualy stems from lack of money. This creates a mess of problems for them, and a God is what keeps them plugging for something else, something outside of their situation.

What about the af-uh-lete that says "I just gotta thank god for blessing me with the ability to run really fast and jump really high so i can play professional sports and sign multi-year, multi-million dollar contracts".....he believes in god.Maybe its all just for show.Maybe they just ate their chitlin's growing up.I'm not racist by the way.

You really can't put all those athletes in the same catagory, many are very sincere, others its just for show, none are perfect. Bo Jackson, Mike Sweeny, Isaac Bruce, David Robinson, Kurt Warner, Jeff Suppan, Mike Matheny, just to name a few are very sincere about their beliefs ( though many of them struggle to live up to their standard-- cursing, brawling occasionally) For others it is a cli'che'(sp). They are gifted athletes and there is nothing wrong with thanking God for blessing them with such gifts. 'Chariots of Fire' is a fantastic movie about the relationship of one athlete with God. If you have never seen it I would recommend you rent it soon.

Uhm... there's a whole book in the Bible, titled: "Job" that directly relates with the issue of whether someone truly loves God or only stays faithful to him because of all the great benefits.. give that a read for a better perspective.

so, here's the deal....i attend a very broad church. we are known as the "rich church" in town, even tho we are also about 8j0-90% middle class-low class . i've always had a decent life style, not rich, just middle class... never been hungry or desperate. i've also experienced some low as dirt income ppl in lexington this summer in the 2 months that i was on mission this summer. so, i've been around all ranges of social classes my whole life....so, basically i'll break it down, IN MY PERSPECTIVE..PLEASE DON'T FLAME ME...now that thats said, i'll start w/ the poor.Poor people: w/ poor people they'll either love God and find Christ's joy and be totally 100% sold out to Him, sharing them w/ everybody they see, and no matter what their circumstances, they'll be joyful, not necessarily happy, but joyful regardless, and they give more than anybody. they might not give monitarily, but they give w/ their time and attitudes, cuz everybody around these people can tell right away that there is something different, i like to describe these guys as the "missionaries that stay and talk to everybody local"..dunno why i added the quotation marks, cuz i didnt really need them.... or they'll cuss God cuz they don't see how a loving God can let them get into the circumstances they are in because they don't know about God's omnipotence(sp?). i haven't really met alot of poor people who are in between.Middle Class: this is the most mixed class of all. they associate w/ both the rich and poor for the most part, so they'll see every aspect from different classes. they have 3 basic different attitudes from what i've noticed...there'll be the guys that are sold out, like the poor people, to Christ and furthering the kingdom of God. and they give, not only monitarily, since they can give a lil more money than the poor people, but they also give w/ their time. and these are usually the people who go serve on missions like out of state or to diff countries, as well as alot of social ministries that deal w/ the poor people. then there are the guys that are indifferent towards religions in general and have been exposed to alot of different aspects of religions but just don't see the point. then there are again, the guys that despise religion cuz they are just middle class and not rich.High Class: this is a group that i don't really know how to explain. they are the givers if they are truly strong believers. they give more monitarily then any other class. they fund the people that go, as well as fund the local ministries. just take Truitt Cathy or the owner of JCPenny's(who just so happened to give around like 99% of what he was making to missions and ministry and living off of like 1%, even tho 1% of what he made still made him rich, but u get the point.). w/o them, we wouldn't be able to do alot of stuff that we can do.....then there are the guys that are searching for more out of life cuz they realize money isnt everything but they dont know where to look, they normally turn to drugs or alcohol or stuff. then there are the guys who just pursue more money and don't care about anything religious.thats all i can think of for now, and thats just my perspectives on stuff...and thats comin from a 20 yr old middle class male who became a christian 3 yrs ago....so i'm not rich and didn't grow up in church.
