Hey everyone, I am a long time lurker of the site, and today finally registered for a username. Anyway, I have noticed that a few of the regular posters here are from the Chicago area. I am from the city as well, and was wondering if there is a regualr home game between the members of the forum. If not, I would be interested in maybe trying to put one together. If we couldnt get enough participants, I am usually at Harrahs playin 10/20 and would like to maybe play with some of you.....If any of the members play at the East Chicago casinos, let me know because I play there quite a bit. (I promise I am not a lowlife like 98% of the other players)Anyway, I was just curious.....Later

I host a home game in Chicago. It's pretty smalltime compared to your 10/20 game, but we have fun. Lately the numbers have been down in my game, so I'm always looking for filler players. PM me if you're interested in finding out more. I too play at the casinos in East Chicago, but i actually prefer to play at the Trump. If I'm playing Hold 'Em I almost exclusively play NL, and the Trump has a cushy $200 buy-in NL game.

What days do you usually play the home game and what games/stakes?I've heard that the trump NL game is rather soft....Do they only run 1 NL table or do they have a $500 buy in as well? Maybe I'll check out the $200 NL, what days of the week do you usually play?

My home game is on Thursdays - tonight. As for the Trump, the last time I was there they started off w/ 2 $200 NL tables and added a third as soon as they had a dealer. There were enough people on the list to have 4, but they simply didn't have enough dealers.

Hey, I'm also from Chicago, I don't really like going to the Casinos in East Chicago. I normally play tournaments at hom games. Although we get together just about every weekend to play tournaments.Anyway, do the Casinos offer NL Tourney's? How much? I'm only a few minutes away from the casinos right in Indiana.

I think that Trump offers a weekly tournament on Wednesdays,,,although I am not sure because I havent played there in almost a year. I think the buy-in was $75+15 with rebuys the first hour.I know that Harrahs offers a weekly tournament as well, I think the buy-in is around $200+20. I played in it a while ago but hated it because the structure was brutal. The blinds moved up too fast and it became an all-in fest.Harrahs also offers WSOP satellite tournaments something like 4 days a week. For $40 you enter a 9 or 10 man satellite, and if you win that, you are placed in a super satellite where the winner gets a WSOP main event seat. I played in the satellite one night to take a break from the 10/20 game, and the blinds went up SUPER fast. Horrible structure but for $40 it was pretty fun. ( I think I placed 6th because I pushed all in from the BB on a complete bluff with 47s and someone had limped in with aces and knocked me out)Check both the Harrahs and Trump website as I am sure they have more information on their respective tournaments.

Well.... I finally got a real job... So I'll have a little cash pretty soon... So maybe I'll join you guys at some point soon. What limits do you play Ben?Another note.... Anyone else ever play in the Rockford Charitable Games?... they come in the area every couple weeks and have some fairly weak spread limit games that are fun.

At the casinos I usually play in the $200 buy-in NL game. In our home games we usually just buy-in for $25 and play w/ .25 .50 blinds, though we occasionally have tournaments w/ like a $50 buy-in. Actually I think I may host a little tournament in a few weeks. I'll post something soon to gague interest.

That's funny, I was just in a friendly tourney last week and one of the guys mentioned the Rockford Charitable group. He said they have some pretty high stake games as far as tourneys go. They have a $300 one coming up soon.

Those Rockford Charitable Games?I actually drove out there from your tip, Suited.First off, they don't even have the WSOP qualifiers. No one even knew what I was talking about, until one old man said "Oh yeah. No one ever really wants to play 'em, so good luck finding eleven other guys." Thanks.Second, the one-table tourneys have TWELVE guys to start, and the blinds go up every TEN minutes. And you only get 1000 chips to start. And it's winner take all. And you have to get paid in, like, gold over a certain point. (No offense to you, Suited. I appreciate the thought.)So, I'd recommend NOT going out there for the tournaments. I didn't even bother with the live games, so perhaps they're good. I don't know.

Well I have ONLY played the ring games. I never played the tourney's. So yeah.... probably a little different. I just don't see the point in playing a $30 SnG where only one spot gets paid. 2 for the $60. I'm not sure how the structure is, but it seems like nobody ever has a good one.As for the WSOP ones... Every time I've been there, they are announcing them. So they DO have them. Just need to wait for a few people to play em.I only have played the 1-3 spread limit game. And it's quite easy. And If you aren't in the mood to play 3/6 or higher at the casino's... it's a great option.
