Impulsive Monday's

Recommended Posts

My good friend is off of school for a week due to Thanksgiving and he came down to visit his family and play a little poker, this is our night.Left work at 5:30, headed over to the bank, met of with my friend at 6:15 ate a great dinner with his family and left for the casino.45 minutes later we arrive and the whole ride my friend doesn't think there's going to be a game going that's worth playing in. It takes us 10 minutes to find a parking spot so it was safe to say there was a game going. There was no wait at the 1/2 NL $60 max and all I had was $80 on me and little do I know, my buddy is tapped. So I do the most logical thing I can think of, I sit with $40 bucks at 1/2 (I know...) and give him the other $40 (yes I'm that nice). Here's the poker content. Saw a few blanks for the first two rounds then picked up QQ's in the SB. There are 4 callers back to me and I bump it up to $8 (big raise for these guys) and get UTG to call, everyone else dips out. This is one of those hands for me where I keep saying in my head, "No king, no ace, no king, no ace." Well guess what? Big fat King on the flop. I check, and he checks right on behind. Well the turn is a blank and I check to him and he moves all in for $22, I make the crying call hoping he has anything but a king, and he flips pocket tens, scoop pot number one. This is the first time I've picked up a bunch of pocket pairs in one session in a while. I saw 99's the flop came 488 two spades I bet $6, get re-raised to $30 total and just dumped 'em and he showed JJ's. Good fold :club: Saw 33's then 55's then 44's hit a set with the 44's and AJ hit trip Jacks while I boated up, $60 more there. They have a promotion when the Monday night football game is on that when anyone scores a touchdown they put a rack of $100 on 3 tables. Lucky I my table gets called and they just drop 20 $5 dollar chips right into the middle. Here's the great part! I'm on the button and EVERYONE limps, then the guy I made the crying call with QQ's on raises to $31 total no big deal right well everyone freakin' folds! Everyone right to me on the button so I don't even look and throw in the money!!! How could I not, it's a dream situation for pot odds. The SB and BB fold and its showdown time, I flip up Kc4c and he flips Kx7x so I'm laughing like god dammit and boom 4 on the flop, scooooooop. So I'm up to about $300 and my buddy is tapped again so we head home and I get the call for a $20 rebuy tourney rebuys in the first hour. So we hit it up and when I get to the house its all Russians! I'm talking like super Russian, hard to understand. It ends up being like 11 handed and the pot starts to get fat after about 30 minutes these guys are rebuy crazy. Anyway I end up donking off my chips to a flopped straight flush not 2 minutes after the damn rebuy period ended, oh well.So I start to deal for everyone, sucking down beers and cigarettes like they're going out of style! Low and behold my buddy takes it down for a clean $200 and he hit me back the $60 I loaned him ($40 @ Barona + $20 rebuy trny) and were off to go home.I get another call as I'm leaving the game @ 2am and it's my good friend Louis and he's got 28g's of shake for $150. So I tell him sure I just won a little at the casino why not it's a great deal. I'm thinking it's like shake shake, this was not shake my friends! This was a straight "O" baby nugz and all not even shake. Anyway rolled up the fatty and got bent behind tint you can't see through. Then dropped my buddy off and I was back to my pad sleepin' away. Now it's the next day and I'm at work and I'm a little hung over but not bad. Breakfast burrito and a monster and I am great. Just thought it was a fantastic Monday!Happy Tuesday!Even happier Monday for a God Damn change!

You're buddy went to the casino with no money, and didn't tell you that until you were already there? And you went with only $80? Weirdos.

I got to the part about the $60 max 1/2 NL table and started laughing too hard to read the rest of it.
Imagine that you have 9 guys at your house and an atm machine in your living room. Now you give each guy two pieces of paper and they keep on giving you $60 dollars everytime you give them the pieces of paper. Would you laugh at them when they went to the atm to get more? I wouldn't :club: Also just for the record, it's suppost to be a good Monday story not a brag about how poor I am.

I'm still trying to figure out how every hand isn't all-in pre-flop with a $60 max buy-in. I have a $40 stack, 4 limpers, i hold QQ, I push. Doesn't everyone? "Normal" Vegas 1/2 a typical opening bet is $12 - $15. You can see 4 flops for $60 assuming you do it on your first orbit.

exactly. I can't imagin playing 1/2 nl without buying in for $200, maybe $150. nah, $200.

Wow, an O of nugz for $150??Here where I live, I would have kept an 1/8 and sold the other 7/8 for $75 a pop. That would be good for a nice $375 profit and I'd have been stoned with over 6 buy ins at that 1-2NL game.

It pretty much is. You pick a hand and go. If you call one flop bet and fold to a missed draw on the turn you're pretty much toast and have to rebuy.About pushing with QQ's...The guy looked like a 14 year old marathon runner or something, I figured he was to scared to call an all in preflop... Plus I was up a little and had room to play with him.
great story, don't worry about the haters. I like the $100 dollars in chips on the table promotion, that is awesome.
Great story for a Monday. They also have aces cracked from 12PM-4PM you get $100 if you lose so pretty much limp with aces.
I've never played in that game at Barona... but I've watched it a few times... absolutely soft/terrible/donkfest. I'm going there tonight.
J it's serious money! They'll pay you off w/ top pair weak kicker almost everytime if you play it a little soft. Sit down, win your buy in to the $100-$300 game.Maybe see you there!

It's actually pretty difficult with only a few BB but if you can get over a hundred in this game you have everyone stacked and you just keep picking up pots by going over the top. It's basically a short buy game and then whoever capitalizes early on dominates the game.
Barona really has 1/2 60 max?Is this like the beginner table at Viejas w/ no check raising? How do you think the play and room is compared to Viejas? I may have to check this out.
The play is better than the Viejas, I hate that no check raising BS. Imagine all the players at .5/.10 online who think they are good... That's these guys with faces instead of avatars..

I got it for $150 so that's about $5.25/G so I just sell $10 dollar G's and I'm making a good profit and everyone "thinks" they're getting hooked up! I love wholesale pricing.
