I Can't Win On Pokerstars

Just got to work.So sick with disgust, I emailed boss at 5:00am and said "Not going to make the meeting. See you, 3:00ish"you insensitive asswipeOn Stars I am a losing player.Just - $190; but I'm only playing $11 tournies, mostly.For over 900 SnG's on Party (mostly $22's), I was down from prior peak 17 Buy-Ins..errr..Never.And, sure, I get lucky sometimes. And my 80/20's actually hold.The extra kick in the pants is the number of times I'm getting coolerd or bad beat on the bubble. I honestly feel I'm playing better than before and not tilting. It's only $11. Obv, I'm not playing for big cash. I'm very competitive and would like some reward for playing well.you guys are swell with your kind words and all.I'll be taking a break until at least next Monday.********************************************Been a crappy week for me.Sis calls me Friday and among other things, tells me this:1. The primary reason she's getting divorced is that she found out her husband sexually molested his daughter from a previous marriage about 11 yrs ago, when she was 3. When confronted he says it was accidental (they shared a bed when he had her for the weekend - he was divorced at the time), and didn't realize what he was doing. Well, I've had sleepy sex; but before it got past arm-draped-over-chest, I was fully aware the girl wasn't 46 lbs. Later, when Sis finally decides she is going to go thru with the divorce, he says "Huh, your still upset about that?" The girl had started to go to counciling and that's how it eventaully got to my Sis. She actually still visits with her dad.2. my Stars username is CancerSucks. It should read "Smoking 3 packs a day for 40 years, Sucks"; but that wouldn't fit. A few months before joining FCP my mom died of lung cancer, the small cell kind. She had it for 16 months. During and after that time my dad quit his two-pack-a-day habit. Now, not only is he back to smoking; but his girlfriend (who he hooked up with just 6 months after mom died) also smokes. Thanksgiving will be a hoot.I tell my wife just about everything.But so far the 1st item makes me too sick to say it. I was literally shivering when Sis told me (I'll spare you the details). Of course you hear about it all the time. But to know all the people involved. The smoking just makes me sad and mad, that he can't beat it, especially after living with and caring for a lung cancer victim. Then of course, that might make the need that much more. The need for nicotine and the need to destroy yourself. I certainly could have been ther more. I resented some things. The new gf being one of them. If my job in Alabama comes through, I'll be much closer and we can build a relationship, or whatever dads and sons call it.***********that was too much info.Had that not been in my head, I"m sure the bad beats and coolers would not have prompted such a tirade earlier. OK, I understand. I'm experiencing some issues that run sort of parallel to your own.My old man has cancer, too. Long story there, too. Diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2000 ... and just never went back to the doctor because he didn't want radiation or surgery. Six years and Monday mom says he's having trouble and she needs me to get him to the doctor. OooooKaaaay ... On top of that, my kids' mother and her sisters were all molested by their dad and literally didn't speak to him for decades. At Thanksgiving dinner last weekend (celebrated early), they all agreed to invite him to Christmas dinner. WTF? There are like ... 20 underage kids there. I guess I wouldn't agree to let anyone else from the sex offender list come .. what makes him so special? Nevermind -- it's just one more malfunction on a long list of malfunctions for this woman. Boys, don't marry a woman who doesn't have a solid, normal relationship with her father. Just don't. But even through these things, I know that life goes on -- the sun comes up again and new problems replace the old ones. Or you solve the old ones. Or, you die and all problems are rendered meaningless. Either way, I'm an optimist about how I'll feel tomorrow. I recommend you do that, too. And stay off the tables for 10 days. Last night on Stars, I saw KK run into AA no less than three times within an hour in two tourneys. One of the instances was back to back. I think I'm going to be playing very little there or maybe I should stick to playing cash tournies only, rather than qualifiers. That **** is eating up my money.

i dont now why the **** anyone still plays at stars. i have not changed my game at all..im just getting less suckouts and having hands hold. heres my stats in the last two weeks since i switched to fulltilt. it must be because of how great the low limit players are at pokerstars because they all have tritz' programMTT's +$4,300Cash - see below...kinda funny when youre a big winner at every stake you play..never cash on pokerstars and always get rivered out of your buyin.interestingly enough when i ran my hh's thru pokertracker i found out im passive preflop, and hyper aggressive post flop.hrm.

Please don't tell me Smash turned into an understanding, lovable guy too. I think my faith in humanity would be shaken to the core.Whoever's blog that was about all the pokerstars bad beats, there are a few hands in there where he mis-represents the hand history and different players then he said actually win the pot. He's a tool.Secondly, obviously most of you don't play in a casino with any regularity or you would see beats like these happen on a HOURLY basis. I myself dealt out an awesome beat one night at the Woods. Foxwoods 1/2 NL, guy ran his stack up to about $900 and I just buy into the table. I'm in the BB first hand with AQ, couple folds a couple calls. SB raises it to $20. (not an untypical raise in this game). Since I only bought in for a hundred (this was before they upped the max buy to $300) I pushed hoping to catch a double up early. He calls and we are heads up with him flipping over AA. Yippe one buy in down. Flop is rags, I need runner runner Q's and was told someone folded a queen. Turn Q. River Q. It's just a bad coincidence that my slump hit, apparentlyIt's not even the frequency of bad beat, it's the FACT THEY HIT WHEN I'M ALL IN AND ON THE BUBBLE, way too often. Also, would someone like to explain to me how it would be profitable to the poker sites to rig their software to give a higher number of bad beats? And even if it did provide them with a greater profit, would it really be advantageous from the risk vs. reward point of view? I highly doubt it.

I was thinking about this. What if the players that are getting dealt these suck outs and miracle draws are PokerStars employees or "bots"? That way, Pokerstars isn't just taking the rake, they're taking OUR MONEY.-- Paul

bump.sorry guys, i just had to vent.I've been thinking about making the move to full tilt since my first downswing on Stars a couple weeks ago.Well, i sucked it up and grinded my tiny BR at the .25-.50 cent NL tables back to where i had it before (the same # that i always get it to before Stars kicks me in the nuts again). Then, in a matter of two sessions, my A high flush < straight flush.....AA<99 all in.....several more hands where i was well ahead and got blindsided by an inferior hand.Since i can never make any money playing the same game at Stars that i have always played and made money with at Titan, i have come to the conclusion that i need to switch sites. The thing i love about Stars is the variety of tourney play, but im tired of losing money when i constantly have my money in with the best, so i will make the move to Full tilt. /endrant

But when the less likely outcome keeps occuring, in your opponents favor = negative variance.I've bitched and moaned about bad beats in the past as much as anyone else on this forum, maybe more... But since I haven't been playing for a couple weeks, my .02 is: Poker is gambling. Obviously there is a skill factore, but when all the money gets in the pot, poker is no longer skill. I think winning pot's w/o showdown should be the new method of play on pokerstars, therefore bad beats won't occur, because they can't. You're taking away the broccoli from LJ, and broccoli is his livelihood.
