Poker Vs. Golf -- Which Is Harder To Play To Your Potential?

Recommended Posts

i could take a homeless person and in 1 full day teach him how to play holdem..and at the end of the day put that person in SNG and have the potential to do well...i could take the same person to the golf course show him basic golf fundamentals...after throw this person on the first tee and say thats enough after the 4th hole...case in point..DN mohter in law (i think) registerd for a sng then realized it was Omaha in some form she had to print the rules of omaha off the internet and she eneded up winning it..in golf this is impossible
this is all true-but his mother in law must have gotten really lucky or she picked up the game real fast becuase i doubt this is normal.you could give her a day of teachings in omaha, and a day on the driving range and she would probably improve her golf game more than her omaha game. she may still win that omaha game, but as we have seen before, it is not because of her skill

keep thinking that any form of poker is harder than golf...even though u either suck at golf or u dont play and continue to show no ability to differentiate btw the 2

this isn't true-i am a good golfer and a good poker player. this is what i am saying:you can be good at both (like me). but you can practice golfing and you will eventually improve. if anybody goes out, they will improve no matter what their skill level is (except maybe tiger)you can play poker for a couple of hours and not improve but you will improve in golf. this is what i am saying-it is easier to improve in golf than in poker (though it is easier to start playing poker than to start golfing)

so when are we going to see you on TV in one of the tour event? like nationwide or pga?you have a better shot at making the wsop main event final table than playing late on sunday in the john deere classic

i think you are missing my point as well...you can win the poker tourny but that does not mean you are better than the pros-poker involves a lot of luck. if you suck out on someone, you did not play to your potential but just got lucky
And thats the point so knock it off. You don't get lucky in golf and win or place high. Golf is skill. Luck in golf is you hitting a bad drive slicing into the woods and getting a bounce off a tree to where it bounces back towards the fairway. I can't believe that which is harder is even a topic. Unless its people that have never played both.
all i am trying to say is this:lets say on a scale of 1-10, you are a 1 at both poker and at golf. You can go to the driving range for a couple of days and be like a 3.but you can play poker for a couple of days and remain at 1 (although you can jump to 3 but not just after a couple of days)if someone sucks at both, golf is easier to improve (in my opinion)
you can control your shots in golf.. You CANNOT control what cards you are dealt. Hence it is gambling regardless of how anyone wants to spin it. Yes there are things you can do to be better mentally, but if you don't get the cards you can't win cause you can't bluff someone off of all their chips in the final table heads up.
