TheTruth527 0
MoheganDont know if anyone has posted anything on this but it looks like Mohegan is finally expanding and adding a poker room to compete with foxwoods. Website mentions a House of Blues poker room with 45 tables, could be a nice alternative to the mayhem that is Foxwoods.Should clarify for those that dont know, Mohegan Sun is another tribal casino located in Uncasville, CT...very close to Foxwoods, same exit off the highway I think. DmsTips 0
I think they are very close, and i've always heard the poker is much better down at foxwoods so I always just end up going there. Foxwoods isn't too bad unless its WPT month, other then that it's too fishy to go anywhere else
nyrajf 0
They previously had a poker room, but it was shut down due to corruption right before the poker boom in 2002.

I assume this would entail stealing of chips/money by employees but anyone know the specifics?
doudave 0
Corruption in the pokerroom? I assume this would entail stealing of chips/money by employees but anyone know the specifics?NO that's not it. I used to play there all the time and I found the games to be just as good as Foxwoods. Infact most of the people there were the same people that I would see playing at Foxwoods. The reason they got shut down was because of drugs and hookers. Not too sure about the specifics but apparently the dealers were dealing more then cards and the floor people the same. Anyway I'm glad they are reopening it and its great for the NY people since Mohegan Sun is about half hour closer then Foxwoods.
billtravis 0
Contrary to rumors, the Mohegan Sun Poker Room was not closed because of corruption. Like all decisions in big business, the room was closed because of financial considerations, a.k.a. the bottom line. I was there when it all went down. They thought they could make more money with slots and they felt poker was laggging behind. The decision was 100 % financial.Peace

167-169 0
Agree with a couple posters on how it is good for New Yorkers. AC, Foxwoods, Mohegan are also legitimate options. The second BIGGEST casino in the world just got better.
Scanner313 0
Mohegan Sun blows Foxwoods away. The atmosphere alone is so much better. Foxwoods always has so many freakin' people in it that you can't even hear yourself think.Once MS gets their poker room up and running I don't think I'll ever go to Foxwoods again (unless I'm playing in the WPT Championship). zipper 0
[ Anyway I'm glad they are reopening it and its great for the NY people since Mohegan Sun is about half hour closer then Foxwoods. When you go to Foxwoods, if you drive by Mohegan Sun instead of staying on 95 it cuts the trip by about 15 minutes. Foxwoods gives the directions to stay on 95 because they do not want to have you drive by Mohegan and possibly stop and play there instead. It is actually only 15 minutes or less to go from one to the other.

Foxwoods always has so many freakin' people in it that you can't even hear yourself think. It's definitely much more pleasing when it comes to entertainment. Foxwoods has always been the "gambler's casino", while Mohegan is the place you take your girlfriend to club and shop and stuff.I just wonder if Moheghan takes the initative and tries to improve and do the things that Foxwoods doesn't offer in their poker room. The competition, either way, make it better for the player.
