yeffy 0
Paul is an incerdibly tough and aggressive player. He is also a relentless table talker, and can bust you down verbally real quick. But does have this quiet laid back appearance....much like a lion waiting to pounce. But nobody said that they had to be bad boys because of their playing style. Darden was definitely a "bad boy" in his past. The guy grew up hustling the streets of New Haven. Sure Yale is there but other than that it can be one tough place. Darden lists his earlier profession as "promoter" I know multiple people that if asked would say they are "promoters". Not one of them does anything remotely legal to earn a living, and not one of them is someone I would want to cross paths with in a dark alley. I don't have facts about Paul's path but I'm pretty sure it isn't all roses coming from that environment and lifestyle.
NicksDad1970 0
Also, they let Kathy Leibert play on the Ladies Night show.Nice.I'm actually LOLing. That's mean but ....but....but....NM.
KDawgCometh 2
I don't think they are biggoted. Paul Darden has a cool attitude. NOw this doesn't make him a BadBoy per se, but he does come across as one of the cooler guys you'd ever meet soI don't think it was out of line having him on the show
tyf70 0
Okay, so I watched the bad boys of poker last night. Gus Hansen, crazy player, plays anything. Phil Laak talks all kinds of crazy talk, acts eccentrically. Antonio talks all kinds of crap, does the wave, ect. Devil Fish Ulliot General bad assss s** talker. Paul Darden, black man. Seriously, folks, Paul Darden is not a "Bad boy" of poker. He seems like a calm, thoughtful player, who plays a little tight weak ( in comparison to the guys at the bad boys he was with). In his other WPT poker appearence, where he kicked butt, he was silent almost the whole time, and made very solid reads and plays. What reason on earth is he a "bad boy" of poker, other than he's black, and he dresses like a urban black man? Tony G talks infinite more s**T than paul. Josh Arieh does too. Even Daniel I would think of as a "bad boy" more than paul. Maybe this was just my perception of paul, maybe he really is a wild man, deserving of his "bad boy" spot. This isn't the "world is going to end" racism. But it's the kind of racism that makes people say, not like TO. Just my thought as I was watching it last night ( when I wasn't thinking about what a god Gus is).edit: i can't say ra c ist?If you have read the interview with Paul Darden at Card player magazine, he was actually a bad boy, a street gang of some sort (I am not exactly sure, but I did somehow remember that). But it's good that he's back in the right track.

Swift_Psycho 1
I don't think native americans were fairly represented on this show either./swHehehehe. Neither were Asians, Men or Scotty could have been on there I would think.
mark33f 0
Also, you guys are taking the name more seriously than the WPT does. If you remember, they allowed Sexton and Hellmuth to play on their By the Book show even though Hellmuth's book is nowhere near the caliber of the others and Sexton's book they were plugging hadn't even come out yet. Also, they let Kathy Leibert play on the Ladies Night show.Genius.
BigDMcGee 3,355
From what I've learned in this thread, Paul Darden owns a hip hop label, and was a promoter.. He is obviously a bad, bad man... it was my perception that was askew...
314HxC 0
You guys do realize that naming the WPT events is just marketing right? And one more thing, who cares?

BigDMcGee 3,355
Now, Come on.. this thread is supposed to be about stirring angry white men up, not about piling on x22.... I'm sure that's done lots of places... I for one think he's a freak, but also freaking hilarious... great TV.... I want more Tony G and More x22....

SapphireTiger 0
I'm studying Diversity and Racial conflict and of course i agree that racism exists but i don't think that this is a case of racism.
Dhall901 0
It doesn't have to be about racism, look at Darden..he looks like a bad motherf#cker am I right? All swole in the chest with his dark shades sitting back in the cut..shoot. Ask him if he minds being involved in that category..hell nah, he's getting paid..simple as that folks.
