1969_F85 0
Does anyone else in here have a nemesis hand that they just hate going against? I ask because in 4 different tournaments I have been either knocked out or crippled by someone having pocket 10's against me. Last night I was playing a STT (full table) at a local backroom card room and I was playing great. Set up some good bluffs, betting preflop with good hands, then making some good continuation bets taking into account the pot odds I was giving, etc... I once had a nut flush against a lower flush and set him up perfectly to get a call all the way down to the river, I really think I maximized the value of that because if I had gone all in then I think he would have folded, instead he called all the way. Then this hand came....5 people remained, I was UTG and was in 3rd place in chips, with AQo I limped in for 150 (bb), I had been raising a few pots lately so I decided to just limp here and see what the flop brought. The guy on the button raised to 600 everyone folded around to me and I called. The flop brought 7 A 4 rainbow which was a good flop for me so I decided to check-raise so I check and the Button goes all in for 1400. I put him on a middle-high pair, probably jacks so I call. He turns over POCKET 10's and I show my AQ so I get what I wanted which was for him to put his chips in with the worse hand. Turn was a blank and the river....10. CRAP!!! The guy apologized for beating me that way, I said no biggie, that is why they put 5 cards out there and they all count. C'est la vie'! I think the only other thing I could have done to avoid this was to bet when the flop came, but I was trying to get more of his money into the pot. Other tournaments that I have been beaten by pocket 10's, I have played differently either betting or raising or whatever, but it doesn't seem to matter 10's are just my nemesis. I guess my question is do any of you have a nemesis hand that haunts you like this???
AcesUp46 0
Aces are my nemesis hand. My good friend too.
Homesar 0
Pocket 10's also are my nemesis, but it is because I never seem to win with pocket 10's late in tournaments. Doesn't matter if I am up against an overpair, underpair, two over cards, or one overcard, if I move all-in preflop with pocket 10's late in a tournament and I get called by someone who has me covered, I am getting knocked out of said tournament. Flushgarden 0
Pocket 2s.I have been knocked out of exactly 6 tourneys in the last 4 days or when either my opponent had 22 or I had 22. 4 times an opponent called my push with 22 and lost the race all 4 times, and twice I open pushed with 22 from late position to steal the blinds late in the tourney, and got called, and lost both of those races. Its like some sick running joke somebody is playing on me. 1969_F85 0
BBFIDTSThis isn't really a bad beat story, more of a question about certain hands that people hate to play against, like the thorn in the side. I wasn't whiningI said no biggie, that is why they put 5 cards out there and they all count. C'est la vie'! I guess my question is do any of you have a nemesis hand that haunts you like this???
