A Hand Against An Aggressive Calling Station...?

Recommended Posts

I excuse the fact that I don't know how to use the converter, so with that aside...Hero has about $140 in front of him while Villian has hero covered. The villian thinks he's really good, but in actuallity he gets WAAAYY too commited with just top pair. IE., he took two minutes deciding what to do with Q-7 on a Q-T-T-7-6 board against three opponents. (He almost called). He is kind of a newb, and doesn't usually fire three bullets on bluffs. The blinds are $.50 - $1.00.My gameplan is to try to go into flops with him in posistion with just about any two cards and try to make cheap draws and then pounce. (Good strategy?)Okay, so villian raises to $4, I call on the button with 4 :D -5 :) , and both blinds call. The flop comes: 10 :) -3 :club: -2 :D. Both blinds check and fold to his $4 bet after I called. A very small bet for this player.Pot: $24Turn: 4 :) . He bets $10, and I call again.Pot: $44River: 4 :D . He bets $30 into me. I have $120 left.My question is: Auto shove in every time against this type of opponent? What about against a good player? My friend contests that he'd be able to get away from an overpair in this situation, but I still think my hand is concealed enough for someone not to be able to get away from that range of hands. Is there any value into raising the river?

How can one be aggressive, and a calling station?
HHHMMMMM. I view it as.... hmm.. Someone who bets a lot, but can't lay down a BEAT hand. Does that make sense?

He calls aggressively.

Aggrodonk would probably be a better description.

hehe, I was wondering what an agressive calling station was too.I don't really like how you played the hand, I would fold/raise the turn. However, I prolley bet for value on the river, something like $60-65.

against this type of opponent or actually against most opponents we have potentially 13 outs. Getting slightly better than 3:1 and factoring in some pretty heavy implied odds this is a simple call. I definitely don't raise this particular villian.I don't see any of villians holdings beating us. I think a push is +EV here.

This is pretty interesting. Had you noticed him doing the same prior to this pot? Any idea if it means he's strong, or weak? Anyway, you say he doesn't usually fire three barrels on bluffs. How often did he raise preflop? Is 22/33 possible? You're saying he can't get away from hands so I guess this is the perfect time to push and see him call with an overpair or A10.

That's the only reason I even viewed this post. I wanted to know what the hell that was.Oh, and push the river by the way. If he doesn't have a flush, you're winning. The other hands that beat you are unlikely, but if he's apt to call with bad hands, then pushing is a must.
