Larry Flynts Big Game Last Night

Recommended Posts

So last night after being bubble boy in the $100+Rebuy tourney I went to play $100-300 NL and noticed the big game going on - $3k-$6k stud and the usuals were playing. I noticed Gus wasnt there but there were two guys I didnt recognize (though someone at my table said he had an avatar on Full Tilt so he must be *someone* but I didnt know him). Flynt was getting pestered by his wife at 10:20 or so - it was hilarious. She was screaming at him to "stop losing money - we have plans tomorrow morning and its getting late. Stop playing with your friends!" Barry was having a ball and finally the game ended at 10:30 or so. As soon as Larry left, the game broke. All I could see of the chips were Iveys 3 1/2 racks of $1k chips. Looked very nice. The other thing I thought was weird was Ted Forrests attire. Everyone else at the table dressed somewhat nice. I mean, they all have money - at least look the part. But not him. He wore these ugly pants and god-awful yellow and blue shirt. Oh well.. It's still fun watching them.

I would assume that is the buy in and not the blinds. I have never heard of those stakes before, unless you are talking Big Game players. Even in the made for TV it was 300 600 I think.

I was there too... But I'm pretty sure the game that they always play is $4K-$8K stud. I saw Cindy Violette playing so they may have lowered to $3K-$6K for her but I'm not sure. I was actually pretty surprised to see her playing that high of a limit. That was the first time I've seen her play in the game at the Hustler. I'm guessing that means that the game was pretty juicy with the two unknown players and Flynt.Ted Forrest did look a little white trashy... The other weird thing was he walked out and was gone for a while and came back with a Rite Aid pharmacy bag with a bottle of diet pepsi. He seems like a very weird guy...I was playing the $100-$300 NL also... I left around 11:30ish
Sorry, my bad - its the buy in - blinds are $3-$5.. At Hustler they have $50 buyin, $100 buyin and $100-$300 buyin..
Blinds are $2-$5 for the $100-$300 NL game.

I lived in LA for three years and played every room BUT the Hustler. I went for the tournaments and stuck around for the cash game and even though I lived in West LA, I never made it to Hustler. GUess I'll have to remedy that sometime when I head back. Is it better than the Bike or HP? I know it can't be as good as the Commerce, but we can't live in the Penhouse all the time. (Eek...punny.)

Well, I really like playing $5-10 NL and Hustler never has that game going, so its not as good for me anymore. I do like their tournaments because they are $15k gaurantee and only $100 buyins (most days - thursdays are now $250). Lately, i've been playing the $5/10 or 10/20 at the Bike. Plus, the bike has free food now (and better food) - so its really my room of choice. The problem is the location - Hustler is VERY close to where I live (Palos Verdes right off the 110) - takes me like 15 minutes to get there - The bike is like 30 minutes away.

I would say that if Ivey had 350k after a whole session at those stakes..that he basically broke even or...lost.

I am going to be in LA for Spring Break in March. Taking my kids to Disneyland. I was hoping to play some poker when I'm there as I have the grandparents for free babysitting. Which card room is closest to the Disneyland Hotel??

While im not 100% sure of who was up or down on the night. Last week they had the same game going and at the end of the game I saw the floorman take all the chips off the table in a cart and deposit them into the cashier. From what I saw there was a total of about $1Mil in $1K chips that was deposited. So, I'm assuming that there was about $1Mil in play. If Ivey had about $350K that has to have been a good night. From what I saw Greenstein and Forrest were pretty short in the game with maybe $70K-$80K in front of them. One of the unkown players in seat 3 had a rack of $1K chips and about a stack and 1/2 on the side so about $120K. From my point of view I could not see Ivey's chips or Flynt's. Cindy had a good $150K in front of her as did David Oppenheim (who is almost always is there when this game is going).

From what I know there aren't too many casinos around Disneyland. Hawaiian Gardens (kinda ghetto) or The Bike might be the closest which would be at least about 1 hour away with traffic. You'd want to search for casinos in Anaheim or Orange county. I don't know of any off the top of my head...

Hustler is fairly new. It's only like 6 years old. It is a smaller casino compared to Commerce or The Bike. It only has about 80+/- poker tables. They spread a lot of low limit holdem. They have a few $15/$30 and $25/$50 tables going and then $50NL (Blinds $1-$2), $100NL (Blinds $1-$3), $100-$300NL (Blinds $2-$5). If they get enough players they'll spread a $500-No Max (Blinds $5-$10).It is a very fancy environment indoors with several large chandeliers hanging and very nice decor inside with plasmas all over the place. They are also in the process of adding on a new "wing" to the casino...

350k @ 3/6k or even 4/8k is not a normal buy in. I would say he was in for 200 max, unless he rebought, which is doubtful.

LOL. I'd say that's awesome, but then I'd have to question my own morality, and I'm just not ready to do that.Tip of the hat, sir. No wag of the finger here.

Sicne my family and i have season passes to Disneyland, I often have them drop me off at the Bike on the way to disneyland (its about 45-60 minutes away down the 5 depending on traffic) and then have them pick me back up. BUT, i do have to go on space mountain and Tower of Terror once a month at least so sometimes I have to skip poker. Gotta get my priorities right!

From Anaheim you can leg it out to Commerce or the Bike pretty easily. I highly recommend the Bike for the free food and good play and WIDE variety of games. The Commerce is, well, the Commerce and if it is your only trip to LA, see it before you go. Largest cardroom in the World.

he probably made a quarter mill...he buys in for 100k on tilt playing 4-8
They have 4k 8k on tilt? The highest I've seen is 1k 2k.
I'm guessing that means that the game was pretty juicy with the two unknown players and Flynt.
I doubt Flynt is a donkey, hasn't he been playing that game for a long time now?
