My ex-roommate and I regularly play with one kid (player x), hes also a pretty good friend, but my ex-roommate has always thought him to cut cards. He goes on unbelievable rushes (similar to jamie gold but more regularly), and he said that player X gets the biggest pots when he deals.I have always suspected it but never really looked into considering he is a good friend. Well the other night we played and he went on another ridiculous run. One hand he dealt, i was UTG and he dealt the first 2 cards to the SB and BB and then looked at me, smiled, and gave me a head flick (like whats up...u get it lol). This was unnoticed by everyone cuz it was 9 handed with plenty of talkers and distractions, but anyway. So i look at the card that he dealt with a smile and it was the Ace of Spades. Now my question is what exactly should I be looking for when he deals next, base dealing, how he shuffles?...and if i think i do catch him what do i do? should i call him out on it right there, wait till the end of the night, etc...

I remeber seeing Chris Ferguson performing a shuffling demo on ESPN where he would pass the 2 halves of the deck through each other, making it look like he shuffled the cards but in reality, he didn't. Maybe that's what your friend is doing?Perhaps someone who actually knows how to use a computer :club: can provide a link, if they've seen it.Anyone else see Jesus' demo? It was pretty interesting. I'm just guessing it was on ESPN, I'm not really sure.

I'm like 73% sure that was actually on an episode of Learn from the Pros on FSN. No Way I'd be able to come up with a link or video of it though.

Yeah I saw that on Wild West Tech, they had him as a special guest for their gambling episode; pretty good show.

rent the movie shade(jamie foxx slyvester stallone)what chris did is just the tip of the iceberg....this is a movie all about mechanics and the sick sick things they can do to manipulate a deck of cards.the first 5 mins intro just shows a pair of hands doing magic with the cards to cheat......cutting and shuffling and flipping over 4 aces, dealing royal flushes in position etc etc etc its worth the rent just to see the first 5 minutes if you play cards.

Although not foolproof, you can often hear the difference in sound when someone is dealing seconds, or if they are dealing from the bottom of the deck. There is a "swish" as the cards rub against one another. If he is dealing from the bottom, he might leave a card hanging out as he pulls the bottom card off. Using a cut card makes dealing from the bottom much more difficult, as well as keeping from exposing the bottom card to others.I think a cut should always be offered to the player to the right of the dealer in any self-dealt game. This makes dealing seconds or dealing from the bottom worthless unless the cards are marked, or unless he is really good at peeking at the cards. But a skilled card mechanic can do just about anything he wants with a deck, and you will probably never catch him.

what was your other card?
it was an 8 of culbs, but i found that irrelevant cuz i prolly would have raised preflop, he calls me and the flop goes 10 high and he can take it from me...his standard play...at any sign of weakness bet.thanks for everyone else...ima look into it, the only thing that sucks is that hes a good friend...is it wierd that at the casino he plays tight as a rock, but in the home game he is constantly playing really really loose.

next time u play...employ the shuffle behind and cut ahead rule...also have the person who cuts the cards put a card cover at the bottom of deck before handing it to the next dealer....and make sure the shuffler before each hand, after the current hand is over, hands the deck to the cutter and watches him cut the cards and put the card cover on the bottom of the deck...it helps avoid dealing from bottom of deck (only a little) as it doesnt take much to push the bottom card back and deal the 2n done from bottom, but no need if the dealer doesnt know what it is....

If you're pretty sure that he's cheating, you obviously just need to confront him about it. You don't need to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt to a jury or something, just man up and tell him that it's BS and you're going to call him out if he does it again.

well played.
Kind of a funny story, not really related but.... We were having a friendly lil $20 buyin home game and I was showing off a couple of my handguns to some friends. I showed them my glock 40 and my ruger 45 and when we were done I just sat them over on the counter next to the table. Nobody thought anything of it I thought. After the game was over one of the guys told someone else that he was nervous as hell the whole night. Now these are all my friends and family. I noticed the whole night he was preoccupied with something but couldnt figure it out. Maybe he had planned on cheating or something cause he is kinda shady... Funny nonethelessoh yeah... he lost all night
