How Much Do You Tip The Dealer?

Recommended Posts

you can never tip too much.put yourself in the shoes of the person receiving the tip. Would you be mad at a bigger tip?Do what you are comfortable with or what seems standard at the table.
This is true. I was just saying that at 2/4 if you tip a lot it could cut into your winnings pretty hard. I guess I come at it from the perspective of someone who plays poker for money and feels like I need every dollar I make. I don't have a great job right now and anything I can make from poker really helps me out.If you're just playing for fun and you're not concerned about the money at all it's fine to tip more. I try to walk the line between being polite and tipping because it's the right thing to do and not wanting to cut into my earn rate.
Thanks bud, but I already responded...
Good job editing your post after the fact to make it clearer. If only your original post had been so clear mine wouldn't have been necessary.

Here, I'll do it for you."I don't even know a ****ing Jew who'd have the balls to say that. Let me get this straight: you don't ever tip?" Tip the dealers, dude.

You must hate money. You're playing 2/4 hold'em. It's not like you're raking in huge amounts of money. Besides which, if everybody tipped a buck every time they won a pot, the dealers would get like $20/hr in tips. I'd love to make that kind of money at my job.
I average $25/hr waiting tables. You don't like $6 an hour don't push carts at your local store. Tipped employees make nothing from the establishment where they work. Our job is to please who we are taking care of. If they feel the need to tip us an outlandish amount, let them. We get the share of tight-asses too.
Each Casino is different really. Depends. Some split, some don't.
Just like some restaurants. At mine we don't split (which is better because you don't have to rely on other jackoffs to make your money)

I like to fake tip;Grab a $5 chip from your stack and say: "Here you go."Then pretend to throw it but really just throw it straight up. Then catch it and say: "Guess it wasn't meant to be"It's so funny when the dealers drop the cards to catch the chip that isn't coming their way, kind of sad though.Other times I tip $1 -$3 depending on pot. Chick dealers get less if they flirt with other players, just deal sweetheart, just deal.

i generally tip the deal a buck a pot unless i feel nice or the dealer is good for the game to me ie taking having fun and enjoying being there while still manageing the game well. I generally don't tip the tourament dealers after a tournment maybe the person that delt me the winning hand as a bounus to them. I did leave one gal a nice tip after one tourament win but she delt the last 2 tables for me with no break so i left her a bigger tip cause she could have been working cash games and making more tip. she was enjoying the tournament and doing a good job. Also, other dealers there were new and made mistakes so it was nice to have a knowledgeable dealer and i tipped extra for that reason.

I tip fairly freely in cash games tbh but I tend to stop if I realise I have tipped 10 quid ($20ish) to one dealer in an hour or less. They usually switch round fairly often tho so it's hard to reach this. I will tip a decent amount if I am losing and they deal me a hand that takes me back to even or +, just as I will tip a decent amount if I am winning a decent amount. If I am +/- $20 for most of a session I won't send anything anyone's way really. It all depends. I just try to limit the total tbh. With tourneys I tip about 5% of winnings if I make the final 5 people, usually 10 get paid so that seems fair. About 7-8% if I win, but that has yet to happen! Lol

Also depends, who you tip, why you tipped them and who saw u take the tip. When I was a waiter I was supposed to put my tips in a jar and share between the chefs and waiters and bar staff. But if I got a tip from someone who only I had served, I pocketed it. Fair's fair!

I smell a Reservior Dogs quote coming.....but not from me. I just don't feel like it.I was actually thinking about this earlier, since I'll be playing in Canada this weekend. I'm gonna be playing 2/4 limit, so I probably won't be tipping if I just pick up the blinds, since it's a pretty large portion of it, but any pot that has at least a few bets in it I'd tip a buck, larger ones 2 or 3, and monsters 5 or 6. I feel like that's pretty standard. Let me know if I'm way off though.
just a quick FYI, this doesn't happen very often :club:
