Dogpatch 2
Is it correct for the dealer to call out cards on the board? To announce possible flushes and straight draws? If anyone noticed, I live in Georgia, so the only live games I get to play are home games or at the bars that have poker nights.
psujohn 0
If someone can't see the cards then reading the board - Ace of club, jack of hearts, 3 of clubs - is nice. Even things like A,J,3 rainbow or A, J, 3 all clubs are ok. Saying - Ace of clubs, jack of hearts, 3 of clubs, pocket clubs has a flush draw and KQ has a gutshot - isn't cool. WaLdOrFiAn 0
The last time i was in atlantic city a few dealers said the cards as they came out but they didnt say possible draws or anything like that. Thats not their job. Its your job to pay attention. The thing that dealers do that i dont like is criticize some plays. I was in a tournament recently and this guy put a horrible beat on another guy to bust him out and the dealer criticized the guys play. He should have told the dealer to shut up and deal the cards, but the guy just sat there amazed at what he just did and didnt talk back to the dealer.

Punch your dealer in the throat and stiff him on every pot if he keeps that $hit up.
FatBurger 0
Reading out what the cards are is great, especially in poor lighting or when older players are at the table (or anyone else who might have bad eyesight).Calling out possible draws or hands is NOT ok.

DB10-2 0
if you use chips and cards and can win or lose real money, it's "real poker," genius.no matter where you're playing, no dealer should discuss hand possibilities.
Stylin_Fish 0
If someone asks "What's that card?" it's one thing but I think the dealer saying the card/suit is stupid.
Dogpatch 2
HOME AND BAR GAMES ARE NOT REAL POKER DUMMYDude, you need to take a serious pill. I don't have the luxury of going to the casino, so I make due with what I have. Yea, most of the players at the bar games are bad players, the chips don't all match, we're only playing for a few hundred dollars... but it's what I have to work with and I appreciate competent, somewhat professional dealing. And as stated in another post... there's money on the line, I think that makes it "real" poker. Sorry if Mike Sexton or Norman Chad aren't there to help you understand what's going on. Thanks for the standup, Fat. I do take the game seriously. Sure, it's bar poker... but isn't that where it used to be played? In the saloons?

pbcsurfer 0
I think stiffing them would be nice, but a dropkick plus a punch to the earlobe would be even tastier.
Alex916F 0
hey guys, i am going to poker dealer school right now and have some insight into your inquiry. In hold'em you would not call out the possiblities of a flush or straight. But in stud you will mention that they have 3 of a suit showing or 3 to a possible straight. this is because the up cards can be all the way across the table and difficult for some to see. so to make it easier you do it that way. Peace

psujohn 0
Personally I enjoy playing by the rules whether I'm playing .05/.1 in someone's kitchen, a $0+0 bar league or in the casino. I don't like string bets, I don't like people taking back the cards they folded, I don't like wild cards, I think people should act in turn, verbal bets are binding and if you table the best hand you win the pot even if you didn't know you hit a flush. Some people have more "fun" by relaxing some or all of those rules. That's fine. I just don't want to play in that game.
Marc-O 0
Once while playing 5-10 with a board of 8,9,10,J,Q........ A dealer says during player 1's action on the river...... " So let's find out whose got the K.......or even the AK.......I of course had the AK........and this agitated me greatley......as some players may have been trying to just play the board, instead of betting. Some dealers I would like to take their eyes out with an ice pick. The only proper response is - while pulling the pot "Let's see if the dealer can stop talking during the hand and actually get a tip next time"I would love to see the look on the dealers face. or even maybe but most likely ***Edit***I honestly believe that the dealer stating anything other than the suit of the card or the face value of the card is unethical, therefore bad poker etiquette. A player was showing his cards to the player next to him everytime he folded. This dealer turned them over everytime for the table to see. The player tried to act irritated about it and asked when that rule was made. The dealer said about the same time the game was made. Anyway, thanks to everybody for calling the "DUMMY" guy a moron. I really wanted to go off on him, but I try to avoid flaming. And it's not flaming if other people do it for you.
