Yeah, because Republicans are all about taking away rights. Gime a friggin break. You state that you are not a Democrat, then talk about "fixing" the party. Liberals wil do anything for a vote. As if ythis is the most important issue facing me and my country.
govt handles 100000000000000000001 things in your country and you are voting against them because they take one thing away.yeah someone take your voting rights away.
Since the republicans took over congress all they have done was try to police morals. I didn't like a lot of what the Democrats did but hate what the republicans are doing. There are a lot of issues in this country that need fixing but all they want to do is force their values and opinions on everyone.

Horseshit. This isn't a Dem/Rep issue. Dems want to force people to join unions to work in certain jobs - you think that is about individual freedom?Seriously what morals have the Republicans tried to Police since they took over Congress?

If I'm not mistaken, aren't the D's in control of the majority of the govt. right now? GG OP
Democratic President with 51/100 Democrat senators.Large Republican lead in the House and a conservative judiciary.Idk about anyone else, but it hasn't felt like the Democrats have been in control of anything for awhile now.

If you guys think this is just a republican thing, you nuts.Last I checked, the justice dept was run by dems. And Holder must have his hands in here somehow.

Facts please.... Obama, Reid, Barney Frank, and others (on BOTH sides of the aisle!) have expressed their sympathy numerous times in favor of poker/online poker, etc.Democrats have enjoyed a super majority for over 2 years and still hold a bigger legislative sledgehammer in the Senate, and will for 2 more years. but most importantly....OBAMA NOMINATES AND APPOINTS THE ATTORNEY GENERAL. He is part of his cabinet and works at the pleasure of the President. There is no way in hell he/the White House didn't know anything about this. This was not supposed to have happened under this administration, in fact the very opposite was supposed to likely have occurred by now...regulated legalized online poker, or so that is what the other side urged/reasoned to me when backing him in 2010.SO....I ask now.....wtf happened? How did this happen under his watch? What exactly is REALLY going on here?Honestly...as much as I do it....and I hate when I do it.....but I hate getting political. It seems to do nothing but bring out the worst in folks and always seems to hurt friendships. But these are legit points to make and questions to ask.anyone remember these?http://www.cardschat.com/f13/poker-players-obama-106755/http://www.obama4poker.com/http://www.newyorker.com/talk/2008/02/04/0...ta_talk_mcmanushttp://www.online-poker-insider.com/articl...back-obama.htmlMy passion rages mostly from the fact that so many of my friends are now so screwed in real life ways because of what has happened. And based soley on all that we know and don't know up to this point, I mostly blame Obama, the guy who was least likely to allow this to occur. We have been duped. That, or there is a much larger agenda at work here...

Here's the little conspiracy theory I thought up a couple days ago.Imagine you're one of the biggest B&M casino corporations in the U.S. You've seen all the cash going to FTP and PS meanwhile your revenue stream has been shrinking and volatile at best. But you're no fool. Nope, you've been researching and perfecting your own poker software that will allow you to get into this lucrative market. However, overcoming the nearly decade long lead in the market place held by FTP, PS, UB et al is going to be an expensive proposition. The advertising budget that will be required to make this new venture sustainable is going to be significant. But there's an easier and less expensive way. You've earned a lot of pull with some government heavyweights, why not get them to do your dirty work for you? Then, a couple of years later, after the competition has been thoroughly gutted, or maybe even put out of business outright, you get your government lapdogs to work on repealing the legislation that served you so well in stifling your competitors but is now a hindrance to your desire for dominance the marketplace. Tell them about all those lovely tax dollars, not to mention campaign dollars, they'll get from the near-monopoly in online U.S. gaming. In five or so years you've grabbed your company the lion's share of a multi-billion dollar empire in what amounts to the most hostile of takeovers.

Yep.How can the gov't think that it's not ok for me to buy into a $5.50 poker game and yet ok for me to go drop $1k on scratch offs at the local gas station if I wanted to?They want in the game and the best way for them to do it is by having the operations being run by a domestic corporation rather than one offshore.

Interesting article with Caesar's CEO Gary Loveman:http://news.theage.com.au/breaking-news-te...0427-1dvay.html
"Instead, the question is this: Should we seize the moment to legalize online poker, permit a safe and legitimate industry in the U.S., and bring these jobs and revenues home?" Loveman said. "Unequivocally, the answer is yes."

I would like to see a march on Washington. Not that it has ever done anything after Martin King Jr. did it in the early 60's. But I think if enough poker player got together, had a peaceful march. Didn't trash the place or clash with police maybe more of America would see that most of us are just small time grinders hoping to win a little, sometimes losing a little, but are not a problem to society in general. Most of us play for entertainment and are not losing the mortgage playing poker. I make very good money in my day job and lose more than I win at poker, but I look at that as the price of entertainment. I could spend more buying video games and DVD's, but they bore me. Poker is fun.

http://www.womanpokerplayer.com/pokernews/...line-poker.htmlPPA: Goal to Highlight the Need for Licensed and Regulated Online PokerThursday, 05 May 2011 11:05Members of the Poker Players Alliance (PPA), the leading poker grassroots advocacy group with more than one million members nationwide, will travel to Washington, D.C., May 23rd and 24th to tell Congress that it needs to pass legislation to establish U.S. regulated online poker this year.“Our members are anxious to get to Washington and tell their lawmakers to restore their freedom to play poker on the Internet,” said PPA Chairman, Former Senator Alfonse D’Amato. “During our fly in, members of Congress will meet firsthand with constituents who have been impacted by the lack of clarity in the law and the recent actions taken by the Department of Justice to shut down Internet poker.”The PPA will be hosting approximately 30 of its volunteer State Directors, who are PPA members designated as the lead for their state, as well as some professional poker players. These individuals will meet with targeted lawmakers and make the case for regulated online poker. Additionally, the PPA is encouraging its entire membership to come to Washington and meet with their Congressional representatives. PPA will provide its members with the tools and information they need to arrange and execute those meetings.“We have heard from our members and there is urgency in their voices – they want Congress, now more than ever, to establish common sense public policy that regulates online poker and gives adults the freedom to enjoy our nation’s favorite card game on the Internet. We will be coming to Washington at a perfect time. There is a raging debate in Congress about how to fund necessary programs, create U.S. jobs and also expand the freedoms of our citizens. Regulated Internet poker is a common-sense solution that can help Congress tackle all three of these priorities. There is no time to waste,” said John Pappas, executive director of the PPA. “Given the events of April 15th and the beginning of the World Series of Poker in late May, now is the time for PPA members to make their voices heard in the offices of their elected officials. Now is the time for Congress to act and protect Americans’ freedom to play poker online.”The PPA will be releasing additional details about the fly in in the coming days, as well as providing an advocacy action plan for members who are unable to travel to DC but still want to make their voices heard on May 23rd and 24th.
