Love4hockey 0
This sucks so much. To think I'll have to get a real job to help pay for college. Atleast I'm only 35 minutes from Canterbury.
Ramocita 0
real poker? jeez, you gotta be kidding me... you must be the guy who pays my tuitionLOL...i definately DO NOT contribute to your tuition. My point is that it will force people to quit hiding behind a computer.Play poker the way it was MEANT to be played... around a table with a dealer with REAL chips etc.

Royal_Tour 0
All I'm saying is I'm not just going to give up on something that earns me 3-5k per week just because some lawmakers decided it's immoral. If it's lucrative enough for you, you shouldn't either. Honestly I'm considering this, but right now I'm a junior in college, so I'll have to wait 2 years before I pick up and move to Costa Rica. Here's my other question though. I've cleared about 45k this year (mostly since June) but if the govt makes online gambling illegal, do I have to declare this income?***to dna, erac22 and I play primarily 2/4 to 5/10nl at bodog, and a quarter mill is a high estimate, this year i'll probably do in the 65 range from June-December, depending on how much I can play now that i'm in semester***You cant claim 3-5k every 7 days simply because you've done it for 90 daysYou will infact lose all the money you have won over the next 90 days worth of sessions. UncleHoot 0
Never liked Party. You never like anything... But it sounds like many of the major online poker rooms will be following suit (puns intended). Someone in charge of aquiring advertising at ESPN can't be happy right now. wilheldp 0
From the Cardplayer.com article... This weekend, just before congress recessed, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) finally snuck the mildest form of the anti-gaming legislation into an unrelated bill. The Safe Port Act provides $3.4 billion for U.S. port security and attached to that bill is a section making unlawful for banks to send money to Internet gambling sites or their intermediaries. The bill passed both the House and Senate, meaning that it only awaits the president’s signature before becoming law.Do not panic. First and foremost, this bill does not criminalize PLAYING POKER. IN fact, the bill does not speak to the poker player at all. After 10 years, Congress finally passed something relating to online gaming. The bill basically makes it more difficult for players to put their money into an offshore site. However, these sites are not just going to walk away from a 12 billion dollar a year industry. Since the gambling businesses are beyond the hold of U.S. laws, when one funding source is blocked, they will open another. From the looks of it, Party and Pokerstars are doing just that. Money022 0
What am I missing here? Why are poker rooms banning access for US players just because it's becoming illegal for US banks to make transactions with gambling sites? It's not like the US government has any jurisdiction over what they do. Nice to see them rolling over so quickly.I know it has been said, but it seems quite easy for US players to open a foreign account to transfer money to and from the poker sites with, and then transfer funds from the foreign account to your states based accounts when cashing out. I can't stand the US government. Priorities are completely off base and we are far from the land of the free. I've always enjoyed the thought of being imprisioned by your own country if you refuse to go to war for them and murder people. Thank God I just turned 26 and am no longer eligible if they bring back a draft.

erac22 0
ahhh, sorry, i'm a moron. I don't keep my whole roll online, only about 15k of it, but, and seriously, I'm not trying to run my mouth, I think 100k of total poker worth by february is feasible for me. I create a post if and when it happens called "$50 to $100k." I do question if my winrates are sustainable or if I've just been running incredibly well for a year and a half, but considering I've probably played nearly a million hands during that stretch, i think it might be sustainable. My main obstacles at this point are my JP's (2 40 page research papers) and the government, which could both largely cut down on my playing time. Thus you can understand my concern about the whole illegalizing online gaming.erac

alf13 0
I talked to firepay...they say that this doesn't affect their business one bit.I called Wachovia Bank (where I keep my poker bankroll), they said that they cannot refuse a money request from Paypal, Neteller, or Firepay. The Citadel might have a problem (for some reason). They WILL not do a direct transfer of funds OUT of a US bank account. But they will recieve a direct transfer of funds..IN.I really don't see the difference.I guess...alot less "whim" players, and credit card players...which is not good.So..my guess is that there will be less bad players online....which is also not good. The bigger issue is these sites cutting off their american businesses. As long as the sites don't fold, we'll be fine.erac
