It depend on the table whether or not I talk much.If there are older people I almost always will end up engaging in some sort of small talk...rarely poker related.The donk(s) that call/bet all the way with nothing I sympathize with and encourage....you know.."oh man, I can't believe your gutshot after that turn card didn't come for you! It'll hit next time" or "How does that happen? You had two overcards after that flop and you don't hit Anything??"If I happen to be at a table full of younger and/or better players I clam up and nod and smile a lot just to be polite.

I am very friendly at the table. Some players can't help but be nice to a friendly guy and it saves you chips later on. Some bad players will be avoid raising hands at the end becuase they like you.Plus it is more enjoyable ten sitting there quietly.

I buy a round of drinks for the table...only if the game is good...If the game is a NIT fest...I talk about hiow tight they play and that i need Aces or Kings to enter the pot...(sometimes it works to loosen up the play...if it doesn't...I just then find another game.)

Depends on the game if I talk or not. If I like the people, I get very social. If not, I get very quiet. Sometimes, there is that table where when you play poker, it is so much fun. Everyone is laughing and having a good time. That is when I like poker best.

I like it best this way too, because no one is focusing on the game, except me and that's when i profit the most!

I prefer to be talkative, but it depends on the crowd. I always bring my ipod, but only use it when the players aren't talking much or are annoying. Sometimes I talk nonsense, which can confuse people, sometimes I talk seriously, especially about football. I like to ask people if they have pocket 4s on a 444 flop, or say that I folded pocket 4s.One time I had a side bet with a woman sitting next to me. Every time they change dealers, the dealer would spread the cards for the next dealer. Me and the woman high carded for a buck every time. The dealers had no idea what we were doing and wondered why we were grabbing the cards. This went on for hours, and I could not seem to beat her at it. My fault for challenging an expert card picker. At least it made for a friendly atmosphere.

I try to be friendly to my fellow players, but I'm generally quiet and keep to myself for the most part. Invevitably though, someone will sit down near me who doesn't suck as much as the rest of the table and recognize me as a good player and try to discuss hands and stuff. I usually just smile and tell them they're right. I make it a practice never to get into real strategy discussions where I give away information about how I play or how I think the game should be played.

Ditto.But then the other "good players" inevitably look to you for sympathy when they lose a hand. I dont mind.

I enjoy talking about how much I suck and how I hate poker. I only make fun of myself at the tables and how I make really stupid choices, throwing in random lies about hookers and blow as mistakes I made the night before or some sort. For some reason this helps me to distinguish between poor and quality players, tricky players, and who is in a good mood and who is not.

This is by far the best strategy of all.Being the nice guy at the table.You will get your good hands paid off.I used to go the table and just be quiet and play my game. Now it's not the case. I sit down start a friendly little conversation and just be an all around nice guy with a big smile.Eventually you'll be getting into pots with players and they will call you down with the nuts. They'll dump draws on the turn instead of the river. It's just an all around better approach to the game.If your the grouch at the table people are looking to take your money. Your the target to get outdrawn.We'll call this "table affinity".

I always try to be friendly and give off a loose image. Even if I'm actually playing loose, it's easier to make the other players play even looser than it is to try and get money out of people playing tight.Oh, and I love to play red/black. I'll play red/black with anyone for as much as they want up to $100 a hand, even at a table with a $300 cap on the pot. Of course, I've only had one hand where someone would play for $100, but a little $10 sidebet is plenty to keep things interesting.
