Dizzyg8r 0
Just making sure I played this right: late in a multi-table b/m nlhe tourney (16 players left - top 11 play (135 players total)). Blinds are at 1k 2k with 100 ante, and this is the last hand before blinds go up to 2k/4k(blinds go up every 30 mins). We're 8 handed and I am in early position with AsKh (sitting with approx. 30k in chips, just below average). I raise to 8k - table folds to sb who has been very LA (I've doubled up through him twice with AA and KK but he is still sitting with about 65k in chips). He goes all in. My read on him is he does not have AA or KK, and so it would cost me 22k (my remaining stack) to win approx 41k. If I win, I'm a lock for the ft. After diliberating for a minute or two, I called. Anyone play it differently?
Scott3705 0
I open fold if I'm not willing to call here.
simo_8ball 0
Yes, you played it right. Do you feel validated yet?
Sluggo 0
There's this amazing concept called pot odds. Coupled with your read of not being dominated, this call is super easy.
the_stein 0
he obv had aq and you lost and this is just a post for you to tell us about your bad beat?
Brunswick14 0
You only had about 10 blinds left anyway, you couldn't fold.
Dizzyg8r 0
he obv had aq and you lost and this is just a post for you to tell us about your bad beat?Actually, he had QQ and they held up which just led me to start second guessing myself as I walked away from the table. But good guess at the point of my post, your reading skills rival Tiffany Williamson.
Actuary 3
do you recall the ave stack?Or starting stacks ? I'm likely pushing this preflop. How were you going to play a non A/K flop ?and yes, easy call after the push.
Sluggo 0
Raising instead of pushing is fine, as long as he plans to push the majority of flops.
CitizenSpade 0
Your validated. The blinds were just about to go up astronomically, leaving you with less than 10 big bets. You were playing against a LA player, and you KNOW he doesn't have AA or KK.It all really depended on what matters most to you, more money or going for the win. Either way, I think you made a correct decision.Good play.
