Who's The Best Young Player (<24)

Recommended Posts

Madsen had a great run at the WSOP in July and deserves all the respect in the world, but look at this Shannon Shorr kid! He's got $1.4 mil in winnings in 2006, six final tables and two tournament wins including one in a 10k buy in. Basically Madsen has all the pub and the two bracelets, but Shorr has consistantly been a winner all year. Thoughts?

I think it'd be pretty unfair for people to decide based on the fact that no one has really seen either of them play. (except shannon on the Aussie millions, but thats not really enough)I played a sit n go in LA with shorr and he was real good, but then again, how much can u judge someone's play from a sit n go? I would lean more towards Shannon because of the fact that he's been proving himself for a while already, online and overseas live, when he was finally able to play in the states he crushed. Jeff Madsen didnt even have a bankroll before the Series from what I've heard. Both of their results are insanely impressive though so they're obv both great.

Funny thing is, when I saw you had replied I was expecting a "add my name to the list" punchline. You let me down JC, you let me down. :D:club:

i watched shorr play for awhile at the WSOP main event because he was seated at the same table as a good friend of mine. from what i saw he was playing great and he put a sick bluff on my buddy who is also a very good player. both madsen and shorr have had very impressive showings this year, and it would be great for poker if some sort of young guns rivalry developed.one of the two dropped out of school (i think shorr), i'll go with him being better. school is for suckers.

I thought this was only about madsen and shorr...but certainly there are a ton of -24's with huuuge talent.Online players that will be famous live in the near future Ozzy, ActionJeff, Strassa( I think he's young), Jordan (Imsolucky0) Morgan, H@llingol, TheWacokidd, Apestyles (dunno if he's under 24), Bill Ivey, Ari, Tmay, Crazy Marco, damn I could go on and on and on but these are just some that come to mind....Live players under 24 that are already some of the best in the world...Dags, Gratz, Efro, Shorr, dunno if fishcman is that young, that "little nicky" guy i think is under 24, and of course there are a bunch that I'm forgetting...note most of these guys were online pros before they blew up live...so its just a matter of time for the other ones..

Well, it might be impressive, that's for sure, he has balls, no brains, but balls. I might be going out on a limb here, but calling an all-in, in the dark might be -EV. And when playing for the 12million dollar prize ME title, that's a little disturbing. No doubt impressive, but retarded as well.
