TheCinciKid 0
The only reason I opened this thread was in the vain hope that the identities of the last 3 students would be revealed. Alas, that is not to be. Anyway, I don't play enough poker, or high enough limits right now to apply for this, but I still think it's great that Steve does it. Truly a class act. PrtyPSux 0
anyone want to make a sidebet give me odds that bkice was one of his students. dudes certainly been cleaning up lately. I find it funny that everytime someone goes on a heater, someone links it to Steve...same thing happened to loosh. You guys gotta understand theres not a secret strategy for tourneys that someone is gonna magically give you and you'll start "cleaning up" all of a sudden. Even Steve mentioned this in one of his other posts....(PS I dont know if BK is steves student or not) Dunno if Steve will get mad at me for saying this, but I feel that it has to be said . I honestly wouldn't like it if people decided to "apply" just because I got lucky in a few tourneys. I dont say this because I'm full of myself or anything like that but because I I've had at least 5 pm's in the past with people saying something like "I saw how much success you had after steve coached you, so I decided to "apply", I hope he picks me!" . I honestly dont feel Steve's strongest point in poker is in the area of MTT's, ESPECIALLY not in online MTT's. That being said, Steve did help me in learning 2-7 (a game which i love to play now),got me started in learning omaha (even though I still suck at it) and helped me a ton in adjusting to live play, very good tips on reads, deals, ettiquette, rules, preperation etc (probably the most valuable information that I picked up from this whole experience). Steve is a live player he knows the ropes and gives great advice on the poker lifestyle, and is also very good at motivating, in a high school football coach kind of way. His biggest strength IMO is that he can play every game, and I do mean EVERY GAME. If you can learn that from him, you'll be set. Anyway, most schools and coaches get evaluated by students in order to give them a certain degree of credibility.. so I guess thats mine- I'd recommend this mostly to players who want to learn other games, become well rounded, or want to make the jump to live play and be successful at it. I wouldnt recommend it to someone who just wants to magically dominate MTT's.

I wouldnt recommend it to someone who just wants to magically dominate MTT's.This is a great response. I highly encourage everyone to read this. However, I totally disagree with the first sentence in the last paragraph. JC came to me, I didn't come to him. Honestly, it's getting old when people ask if they will win tourneys, etc. I've been playing winning poker for 10 years now. If you want to know more about me, then do a search. Find out who set up Daniel first heads up match at the Wynn. The notion that tournament poker is the only form of recognition is out of control these days. I have said this before and I will say it again. A lot of those pros you see on tv in tournaments are broke. Sure you know who they are, but the poker world is NOT what you think it is.Learn to play cash games. All of them. Be a well rounded player.
Kangaroo 0
sorry if my comment annoyed anyone it wasn't entirely serious however it wasnt a complete joke. I think in a community like this and the offer steve gives it's natural people are going to take stabs at just who his students are. it's all a bit of fun.I dont know astro or BKice that well but if he takes my comment as derogatory in any way sorry to him. His results over the recent period have been great and congrats to him. As for Prty I dont presume to know that much but from what I have heard about him from other members is that he had a huge amount fo raw talent before his training.I think I'm going to cut this post short here because Im only digging the hole deeper . Just wanted to clear up I didnt want to discredit astro or JCs personal acheivements.I don't know if I'm allowed to post this here but for thsoe who do miss out I strongly advise cardrunners. I wasnt really a big fan of cash games before I joined but I'm honestly and big convert and winning decently that I dont really even want to play tournaments any more.GL all. Mercury69 3
Well, after reading PartyP's post, I'm not going to formally apply, although I could certainly use a coach/mentor. Reason? I'm becoming, primarily, an MTT player, due to BR limitations. I know cash games will come, but I just love the format of MTT's and my BR just can't handle, atm, the variance of the level of cash game I want to play. All the best to the select few.
