Partial Trip Report

Trip Report:I arrived in Philly the 21st and Trevor (tremomey here on FCP) picked me up and we headed towards AC. We are staying at his Aunt’s condo which is really sweet and is a block away from the beach which we still have visited (as of the 24th).The first night we went to the Trop and played 1/2NL with a $300 buy in. My bank only allows $300 withdraws per day and before I left Columbus I withdrew $200, so I was quite frustrated I couldn’t play any higher the first night in. However, we had a fun time playing the 1/2Nl game. Trevor won just under $1k which is sick considering we only played 5.5hours. I won $130 cause I’m a donkey and don’t turn a boat after duder flops trips and makes an illegal raise and I get a free card and turn a boat :club:.Nothing really exciting came from the table. Anyways, after that we go eat some food, play pool, blah blah blah.Next day we hit up the trop again…well actually, what first happened on the 22nd was quite odd. We got to bed at like 5-6am that morning, and around 8 or 9am these Jets…the Blue Angels start flying around. Turns out that the next day there was going to be an air show and they were practicing. I seriously thought we were being invaded and there were about to be explosions. Those things are incredibly loud, and really sweet. They flew ridiculously low, and right by our condo. I got on the roof and could literally see the pilot in the cockpit (basically). It was really sweet, but we were both so tired we just wanted them the shut the hell up. I somehow fall back asleep to around 2pm.We get up, play some play money HU on Full Tilt and Poker Stars and then head to the Trop again to play a $100+20 tourney. We started with $5k chips 50/100 blinds with a $100 add on after the first break. I don’t make the first break. Trevor does, but he doesn’t cash. After I bust I go to the cash tables and am looking around for a game. I now have $600ish at my disposal ($300 from 2 day withdraws + a little profit), but there is a waiting list for 2/5NL and I’m just like “blah”. I see a list for 5/10NL and I ask if it’ll actually be played, they say yes if they call and people show…Blah. This whole ordeal takes another 30-45 minutes, but finally we get enough to play 5/10. I go borrow $700 from Trevor and sit down with 1.3k in front. 1.5k is the max buy in, but I’m pretty sure I was the only one who bought in for more than $1k. The 5/10 game wasn’t that great. There were a few middle aged guys who I was hoping would just be gambling and having a good time. But they were actually trying, but still managed to go busto. I got none of that. This older gentlemen lost in two sick pots. Once with a set against a turned flush, and the 2nd time against a straight flush. He left after that.As for me, I was playing well I thought. I have really been trying my best to not give anything away when I play, basically just going through a routine with my actions and I think I’ve done a good job so far…but anyways, as for a hand I played against probably one of the decent players at the table.I open raised the CO to $35 with KK, the button calls me and the BB calls me. The button was pretty weak and very easy to read, very straight forward. The BB was a “sunglasses” guy, which I laugh at, but anyways…he was decent, but I’d seen on his big show downs hand so I thought I had a good read on him.Anyways, the flop was 842 with 2 clubs, and I had the Kc, he checks to me and I bet $65, button folds and he raises it up to $200. He had around 1.1k behind or so but didn’t seem to comfortable with all the money up there. He had bought in I’d say with around $500. I was thinking about the hand and had asked him to give me a count which he did and then he really froze up and just was putting off a vibe that to me was not a set, and I really wasn’t worried about two pair at all. Ideally I thought he had A8, or a hand like TT/JJ. I decided to re-raise $400 on top of his $200, so $600 total. I was pretty certain I had the best hand with all the information at hand and was willing to take it down there, but I was going to call a push. He debates for a while and finally mucks.Other than that I chopped a lot of small pots and just tried to keep my chips up as that was the only big hand I had. The game broke only after a few hours and I left only a $200 winner. So far, I still hadn’t flopped a really big hand or draw and I was just itching to play a big pot against someone. We didn’t do much else that night, basically got food came home, went to sleep. The 23rd I played a little bit online before we left for the casino. Trevor and I went to Caesar’s this time, but they only had 1/2NL running and I was trying to play 2/5 so I headed over to the Trop by myself. I get there and there are a few 2/5NL games running and I get in a really really good one.Super funny table, a lot of the guys are just joking around having a good time. Across from me there is this tattoo artist who is playing a lot of pots, but I was about 94% positive that was because he kept hitting hands. Two to my left was this guy from Philly who seemed to put off that tough guy vibe, but he was really funny and def. the action guy at the table. He was busting everyone’s balls and was trying to give out bad beats. He actually suffered a really sick beat earlier on which I’ll go over.Philly had 55 in the bb and raised it after like 5 limpers to $35 or something. 3 callers. Flop came 59x with 2 hearts, he bet out, Ex-Pro calls, “dickhead” calls (that was his nickname a la’ “Philly”), turn is an A9o, he bets out again, limper calls, LP pushes for around $400ish total. Philly insta-calls and now it’s like $400ish back or so to “Ex-Pro”. Ex-pro finally decides to call and gamble with the Ah7h, river heartttttttttttttttttttttttttttt. Huge pot gets shipped to the Ex-Pro.Apparently, after I moved seats, Ex-Pro used to play 75/150 stud and stuff back in the day and was a pro from 96-04’ and quit cause he made enough and now owns properties and stuff. Ohhhhh yea, he also tipped $200 after winning that sick pot. Really crazy tip. After that hand Philly is like, “**** it, I don’t even care about this money, I got $5k in these pockets and will collect more tonight.” Loooool, it was all in good fun, he really didn’t seem to care and was really just laughing all night and really made the game fun. I started playing the game around 8pm and didn’t leave till 5.30am the next morning. But I’m getting ahead of myself. For the first 2 hours of the game I don’t see but one Ace high hand. I saw J8o 8 times total, and was incredibly bored. Tattoo Artist noticed this and made mention to the table, so I was like. F it, I’m gonna just raise a few pots up and chip up. I do this and c-bet a few flops and win uncontested. Regardless, I’m still sick of my seat. I decide to move across the table to the 4 seat instead of the 9 seat and get to the left of Philly and Ex-Pro and I have Tattoo artist two to my left. The game got short handed, which was great cause most of these guys were not good short handed, or long handed really. I was stuck $220 but had re-bought each time to $500 and actually chipped up to $750ish playing short handed just cbetting flops in position although I still could not pick up a hand, I was just playing off my image. Then I actually pick up a hand A8o, Philly limps, and I bump it to $30 on the button. Tattoo artist calls me, Philly folds. Flop AKx he checks, and I check. He was quite tight on flops unless he had Top pair. I was about 100% positive if he called my raise pre-flop it was with a hand like KQ/KJ/KT QT/QJ and even weird little sooted Ax or Kx as he seemed to love to play. Turn is a blank little card and he bets out $25, I raise it up to $85 and he calls. I put him now on a small range, KQ/KJ most likely. River came a Jack and he checked. I puked a little cause I was gonna value bet, and almost still did, but decided to check behind cause of what I thought he had. He says “two pair” and I go, “KJ”? He tables KJ not sooted and I show the Ace and muck. Rebuy! Now I’m in for like $320 total and am just like blah. Now for some of the fun hands:Philly somehow gets all in with K5s vs JJ vs A8o for a sick pot. Maybe 1k total. K5s obv wins. Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool. So funny, so great. Then the sickest hand of the night, we get full handed from these tourney donks that just finished up playing. One guy of course has sunglasses.Anyways, I fold UTG, guy on my left raises to $35, tattoo artist calls, one tourney player re-raises to like $100, some other guy re-raises with to like $300, Philly calls it cold with ATo (lol), folds back to the guy on my left and he is really short and starts debating…he finally folds AQo, Tattoo artist calls the $300 cold, tourney donk re-raises all in for $500ish or more total, other guy calls all in, and we convince Philly to call and gamble with ATo. Loooooooooool. Tattoo guy folds. So +$2k pot, tourney donk QQ, other guy 33, Philly AT.Some how QQ holds (I really have no idea how or why this happens. I think the entire room was rooting for Philly). And then this guy proceeds to tip $10 after being reminded by the table to tip. $10? Your QQ just held for a +$2k pot and you tip $10. What a nit. We all bust his balls and he tips $15 more. Awesome. It was obvious this guy never had that much money infront of him and he really locked it up and left after less than a hour. Whatever. Philly rebuys and is now “gased” as he kept saying. Oh man, the table was so great. I start playing more hands semi-short handed. Like 7 and 8 handed. I finally hit some flops. I hit a set of kings for a decent profit (ended on turn though), FINALLY flopped a boat. I limped 44, entire table limps, bb raises (tourney player I think, glasses, etc), entire table calls for $35 more. Flop 466 and the tourney donk pushes for $175. 2 folds to me, I call and everyone else folds :D. He shows 33 looool and I scoop it. This was near the end of the night and in my haste or whatever, I tipped $75 to the dealer who was leaving. I kinda regretted overtipping, but whatever. It was a funny *** night and I didn’t really care. Philly and I started flipping $5 chips and he won like 4 flips in a row so I shipped $20 to him. I finally won $10 back, but man I was cold. Blah what else? I can’t really put this table in words. It was a 9.5 hour session and soo much happened I can’t really recall it all. I left up $404 (so I guess that woulda been $500 had I not tipped $75 and ran sucky flipping chips) but I was quite happy with how gross the first 6 hours went. Philly ended up going busto for like the 4th time on the night and called it quits. After he busted for the last time I decided to quit cause then the game was just going to be boring and not goofy at all. Some other classic lines from Philly….there is a floor man there named Rick, and he became “Rick the Prick”. Uhm, Dickhead got the nickname after the A9 hand, and then he and the tattoo artist had some special bond cause they were both from Philly and were busting each others balls the entire night. Tattoo artist would get really upset when he lost hands…it was so funny. This one hand against Philly he raised AQ and bet the Axx flop, Philly pushed for like $80 more with the nut flush draw and turned the stone nuts on the turn. Tattoo artist was quite upset. Everytime he lost a pot he left and smoked a cig and played a slot machine then came back. Loool.Oh yea, I forgot a hand (sorry this is so unorganized). Philly at this point is just playing all kinds of crap, and finds himself in a hand with J4s and of course flops a flush draw. Duder on my direct left bets the flop, then bets like $150 on the turn. Philly flips his cards and shows the flush draw and starts talking blah blah blah. I’m like, there is no way he’d just call after showing his draw, so I tell him, “why don’t you blind push? That be really sick. You said you don’t care about the money.” And man, that woulda been sick. But for some reason, and this might be even more sick, he just calls. LOOOOOOOOOOOOL. River is the flush of course and he yells “Ship it”. And the other guy mucks his Ace or whatever. So funny. There is so much more from this table that I just can’t remember or I feel like I’ve written enough so far but man..it was great. I’ll update more as the trip goes. I think tonight we are just going to the casino and play some cash again. I'm hoping it'll be as fun as last night, but I seriously doubt it.- Jordan

I totally owned this mofo on the play money tables. I am having a good week so far besides getting completely s faced last night and dumping a bunch of money on drinks, food, video poker and donating like $150 playing limit at like 6 am. Good times.

Yea, after that experience I don't think I'll be able to sit that long at a table without him or a guy like him there. Just made it so fun to play.- Jordan

Those are my favorite type of tables to play at when playing live, thanks for sharing this part of your trip.
Yep, nothing better than a fun table that doesn't get too upset when they are losing the odd pot.Good report, enjoy the rest of the trip.

Definitely. Makes it so much more enjoyable. Hate the tables when everyone sits there stone cold silent, (usually taking a 1/2 NL game way too seriously).

So true - if the table more than 4 people wearing iPods when you sit down, find another table :club:
