Ralphy 0
Heartland -- I've tried to watch it a few times but after 2 minutes i'm bored to tears.WPT -- used to be exciting and fun due to the newness of it. Now can barely watch it.Poker Superstars -- Has to be the worst poker show on TV. The music drives me crazy. the constant breaks for commercials is insane. The blind structure is much worse than the WPT (at least on the WPT the final table takes from 6 to 8 hours to complete). It is impossible to get into the action because it is so fragmented. Plus, there is no excitement because you know each player has multiple attempts to score points.POKER SUPERSTARS IS CLEARLY WORST.High Stakes poker is the best, but I can even see this getting a little boring after a few more seasons.Frankly I'm getting bored with poker on a whole. I need to start playing live to rekindle my interest, but no live poker where I live.
ripptyde 0
totally and 100% agree Poker Superstars is the WORST. They air maybe 3 hands at a time and that dreadful music ughhh and Chris Rose ? WTF pretty boy...you dont have enough to do stroking John Salleys jock on BDSSP ?So true... Id rather watch Celebrity Poker than Poker Superstars and that hurts me to say that but its true. canadarules 0
i love the wsop coverage on espn not to mention the dark atmosphere or however u spell it.
sloshr 0
HSP is the best by far. I think PPT is 2nd, with Celebrity Poker being the worst. I have never heard of this Heartland Poker, so I'll just take everyone's word that it is bad. Worse than all of them, however, is the World Series of Blackjack. I don't see how anyone can watch that. The Nuts 0
WSOP is pretty cool. I like how they cover events outside of NL Holdumb. To me, those are actually the more enjoyable WSOP events to watch.I don't get to watch a lot of HSP since I don't have GSN. I liked what I saw, but I find tournament play to be a bit more stimulating.PPT is good, but that partner of Seif needs to get rid of those damn sports analogies. Otherwise, it's cool.WPT, Poker Superstars, Mansion Dome: Bad, bad, bad.CPS isn't really much of a poker show. It's a charity event. Only it involves poker instead of helping out at soup kitchens or giving sponge baths to old people. So, it shouldn't be viewed the same way as the other poker shows. It's more entertainment-driven rather than anything else.
king_tanner 84
I actually like watching WPT from a viewer standpoint. I can understand why players dont like it because of the blind structure. But they do show a lot of poker which is good. Actually I shouldn't count because my cable doesn't have GSN thus I can't watch High Stakes Poker. Im an idiot lock me up. rivergirl 2
Mansion Speed Poker from the Poker Dome is pretty damn bad.someone beat me to this but QFT anyway...Also, on our sportsnet in Canada, they show alot of bad poker...alot of amateur tourneys that are sponsored by websites, usually pretty boring stuff.Although i don't remember the name of it, there is a tourney they play from the UK that they broadcast in Canada....Its a series of 6 man tables with a mix of poker pros, online qualifiers and one celebrity at each table. The celebrities are always someone from England and unless you're familiar with what they do, you don't have a clue who they are ( Steve Davis, who is by far my fav pool player, was on this show once but if you don't know much about snooker from 10-15 years ago you probably don't know him although he plays some 9ball now, very rarely and only Euro events) This is a pretty bad show, no offense to anyone but i hate watching commentary on anything from England. I just don't get all the slang and some of those people speak so fast you can't understand them well.....anyone ever hear Sid Waddel commentate?Sorry to digress, but someone from Canada will know the tourney i'm talking about and they air it in 2 hour segments......it would be great if it was good poker done well, unfortunately.... mase_gotsem 0
hsp has got to be the best but they need to be longer and get more hands in u can tell they cut so much out maybe they need a video where it shows everything uncut i would buy the collection would you ? JaysForLife 0
the British Poker Open would be what rivergirl if refering to and omg is it ever bad. they take like 5 minutes to turn the turn and river and the commentators are horrible. Also the ultimate bet shootout tourney is impossible to watch . I can actually fell myself getting worse when i watch that
WVUCarter 0
High Stakes Poker is an easy choice for best poker show. As far as the worst, did any of you guys ever watch the poker show on the Speed Channel. It was all nascar drivers and was HORRIBLE, even worse than Celebrity Poker (which is the 2nd worst poker show of all time).
dunkitish 0
PPT and HSP are clearly the best two. What I like about the PPT, is a:the commentary is clearly the best out of any show, Mark Seif, b: obv. watching the best of the best play is func: getting to watch a tournament from the beginning, getting to see the different stages or quarters of the tournamentd: the ammount of hands they show, i.e. in last nights show 9 people were eliminated durring the 2 hour durration and only 12 will be eliminated next week.e: We get to see great post-flop play rather than all-in, all-in, all-in (ala WSOP, PSS)f: it reminds me of what a tournament would be like before the "Moneymaker effect"all the above make the PPT my favorite to watchI like HSP because you have the top pros playing a big cash game which is fun to watch. Gabe Kaplan is a pretty good analyst. You get to see great post flop play and the power of position. And, it has entertaining characters ala DN, Doyle, E-Dawg, Mike the mouth, the sheik, antonio, etc who are all fun to watch.I think the WSOP is most popular with regular joe's who aren't "obssessed" with poker. They can relate to the amateur side, don't get to hear about a lot of strategy that is quite frankly over there head, and Norman Chad is entertaining for them. That's why the WSOP is so popular. The thing that I hate about it is that it showed like 8 hands on tuesday. It was ridiculous. And the only hands we saw were with Hellmuth and Mike the Mouth. I think we will enjoy it when we get to see DN at the feature table. The thing about poker superstars is that they need to shorten the ammount of elimination matches or get a bigger time slot so the blinds don't have to go up so fast. Although, the strategy is very interesting. However with crappy blind structures the show is a crap shoot. Celebrity poker showdown stinks because both phils have been explaining strategy theat quite frankly doesn't even come close to what the donks at the table are thinking. The WPT is begining to become like the WSOP with many ammateurs. Hell i'll just revert to playing my home game to see that, no point in really watching anymore.
Pot Odds RAC 23
HSP is really the best. Great action and insight to cash games. I personally prefer cash games to Tourneys. The Poker Dome is horrible. So is the International Poker show. Heads Up is pretty poor too.Hearland is sort of amateurish, but watchable. The hostess is pretty cute too.
SPADES21 0
I actually watched an episode of celebrity poker the other night and Phil Hellmuth spent the entire time talking about how poorly the people were playing. It was rather funny, he kept saying "oh no, I would have raised there" There is also another one on GSN that has half celebs and half no name pros that is just terrible i cant think of the name but it is brutal

I can actually fell myself getting worse when i watch thatthanks jays...having never being able to watch an entire episode i couldn't really remember the name....as for the UB one ya it's pretty rancid too but i find alot of those website qualifying non pro events are difficult to stomach because alot of those people have rarely been in a live game (or so it would seem)All in all...they are all good shows.....FOR ME TO POOP ON!!!(love your av...triumph is my hero)

fleung22 1
You've obviously never watched teh CPT Women's Tourney. Worst poker show ever. Ugly girls. Bad play, it doesnt get much worse.HSP is obviously the best. This thread is so yesteryear. In terms of the worst y'all ain't even close. If you live in Toronto (I'm not sure where else it's shown) go to channel 288 some time on your digital box.At certain times of day they do play-by-play watching random no name people playing online poker on a site I've never heard of. Now THAT's the worst sh1t ever!Oh...speaking of shows I thought I'd mention that WSOP ME is now available on www.thepokerbay.com and I mean the version with hole cams. Your welcome.
Ec5 0
That channel 288 is the Casino and Gaming Television channel(CGTV), which is almost entirely made up of old British poker shows.Feeling retro, how about watching the 2004 European Poker Open,or even all the Poker Million two hour borefests. What's worse is that because most are shown in widescreen(due to British Pal system,I guess),you almost always have to watch the scrolling ticker at the bottom of the screen, filled with useless information.I still think it's good that Canadians get to watch more poker shows that are more than 6 months old(thank you TSN,Roger's Sportsnet and Headline Sports-you all suck),because I got tired of falling asleep to the same old infomercials. Now, I can fall asleep much faster watching shows that often don't let you see the hole cards of the players for 5 full minutes.Jolly good shows, you wankers! The Ultimate Poker Challenge is also so lame looking, but I can't stop myself from watching it because I can't believe the way Chad Brown and almost all the co-hosts read the same crap cue-cards each week. "Now,let's get back to the Challenge!" I laugh every time Chad points his fingers when he says that!
lilxlazyxboi 0
High Stakes Poker. Most def!I always find I learn something new each time I watch an episode. Not anything real significant though, just bits and pieces I add to my game.
