PairTheBoard 0
Just wondering. Does anybody know? Did he ever beat any big name players? Any big scores? Who would win a 9-ball contest straight up between Daniel and Bobby Baldwin?PairTheBoard
DanielNegreanu 141
I played Snooker growing up and never got that good at it. My high run was 87.
exec771 0
I dnt knw wht ur standards of judging are but 87 is really good.Ive been playing snooker for 5 yrs now and still cant make breaks over 60, its a gr8 game to play tho...
Nitro 0
87 isn't bad considering the highest ever recorded was 151. I've only run about 60, but then again i'm an 8-ball player, not a snooker player. You ever play anymore in your free time?

Nitro 0
151? LOL, the highest possible break in snooker is 147.Daniel you could school me in poker but I could school you in Pool Is the highest break at snooker 147? No. A 147 includes 15 reds, 15 blacks, and all the colors, so it would appear to be the maximum. If your opponent fouls with a snooker, you may get a color for a "free ball" for your first red, and thereby get a "16 red" clearance. About six such clearances have been recorded. The highest snooker break is not, as previously reported, Tony Drago's and Eddie Manning's 149s. It's Wally West's 151. He made the break in the final of a club handicap at Hounslow Lucania in 1976 against Butch Rogers. 155 is possible.
aucu 3
In snooker getting a century "100" is huge.Only once have I seen a 147 the perfect game, the guy was playing against me.It made the news paper. Most will never see a perfect game.

rogerwilco 0
Most will never see a perfect game.I've seen it several times (on tv) I like it a lot, that you played snooker instead of pool, Daniel, it so much more challenging game.I play snooker every other week with a friend, and my highest break is somewhere around 20 - I really should stop drinking while playing to get somewhat better. rivergirl 2
How did I get owned when i'm right?because the highest possible break is 147.....how you came up with 151 is beyond realistic.I play alot of pool, mostly 8ball...we go to vegas every year for the tourneys in may...i even got married at one and had my wedding pic taken in front of a pool table in the main playing area.We only have one room left in my city with snooker tables (6x12s) and once in a while we go down there to play...highest run 24, but in all fairness, i can't see that far and my stroke isn't good enough to trust it. I've seen lots of perfect games, only on tv, back in the day when TSN used to show the big snooker tourneys all the time instead of the 9ball they show now.DN....one year when we're down in vegas, you should come down and check out the tourney......the Canadian teams are always looking an extra cheering section. Nitro 0
how you came up with 151 is beyond realistic.I see. Well considering it's a proven fact that 155 is possible you should really revise your facts. From WikipediaAt least three breaks in excess of 147 have been recorded. A 149 by Tony Drago in West Norwood, UK in 1998 is recorded by the Guinness Book of Records as the highest. In that match Drago was foul snookered and chose the brown as the free ball, to score one point. He then potted the brown again, for four more points, before potting 13 reds and 13 blacks, a red and a pink, a red and a blue, then all the colours. In October 2004, during qualifying for the UK Championship, Jamie Burnett achieved a 148 against Leo Fernandez, becoming the first player to achieve a break of more than 147 in a professional matchWally West was reported to have made a 151 break in the final of a club competition in Hounslow in 1976. Jamie Cope was reported to have made a break of 155 in a practice frame during 2005From The Guinness Book of World RecordsHighest Snooker BreakTony Drago (b. September 22, 1965) made a break of 149 in a witnessed practice frame at West Norwood, Greater London, on February 1, 1995. The break involved a free ball, which therefore created an “extra” red. From Snooker.org16 Red Ball ClearancesIn competitionThe highest snooker break is Wally West's 151. He made the break in the final of a club handicap at the Hounslow Lucania Club in 1976 against Derek "Butch" Rogers, in front of about 100 spectators. The qualified referee John Posner was in charge of the match. Wally won the first frame with the aid of a 104. In the second, Butch clipped the blue and left Wally snookered. Wally potted green as his free ball with a brown to follow. He then took 14 red and blacks and a pink off the last red. He then cleared up to make the 151. Jamie Burnett (Scotland) made a break of 148 on 16 October 2004, at the Prestatyn qualifiers for the Travis Perkins UK Championship. This was the first break over 147 in professional snooker. Burnett made the break in the 14th frame of his match against Leo Fernandez. He potted the brown as the extra red, then another brown followed by the 15 reds and all the colours. He made a blue on the first red, a pink on the last one and another pink on one of the other reds. The rest went with blacks. He went on to win the match 9-8.So yes, it is possible and obviously not unrealistic is it?
aucu 3
It may be done but the perfect game still is
rivergirl 2
i never took fouls into consideration.........but the perfect game is still 147. Its kind of like when Earl ran 10 racks for a million, they really didn't want to give him credit for "running a rack" when he made the 9 on the break.I also didn't realize Tony Drago was that old (1955)...he still looks pretty good for his age and boy can he move since he should be somewhere around 65-70(really i'm assuming a JR and SR there although that is not mentioned where it should be).But like i said, don't really get too much snooker here, unfortuneately in North America its a dying game, if it's not already dead.I know a few snooker players from TO wondering if maybe DN knows some of them....they are mostly converted pool players now. rivergirl 2
except maybe Cliff Thorburn.....a great Canadian Snooker player....actually won the World Championship one year, but nowadays plays mostly 9ball and does promotional appearances at amatuer 8ball tourneys at least in Canada
Nitro 0
Cliff's a nice guy too. I had the pleasure of meeting him and Karen Corr at the 8-Ball Nationals in Toronto two years ago. He was demonstrating the new Terminator jump cues. Pretty neat.
rivergirl 2
yes he is pretty nice. he was back again this year...although karen was not...i guess she has since changed sponsors. What division did you guys play in? i play ladies (obviously) and i'm not very good but my hubby plays pretty well..they usually cash decently in the A and they have won it
Nitro 0
Our league here is a team league but a lot of the guys go up early for the singles. One of our teams won the B this year which was nice. Usually we send about 9 teams up, but since they changed the dates to July a lot of us couldn't make it due to seasonal work. It will be nice next year when the Nationals are in April!
rivergirl 2
you didn't miss much this year if you didn't make it. i think it being held in july really hurt it's chances to be successful. I'm not sure how much it being scheduled on Easter weekend will improve it for the next few years. i was actually trying to figure out if i knew you (or of you). I usuallly meet alot of players through watching/hanging out with my hubby during tourneys. I find watching the play is really a great learning tool, especially now that my game is turning to theory and ball selection. it's also much more exciting to see alot of runouts as opposed to 6 trips to the table each (my games lol). If you are going next year in April, since we'll be in TO anyway, maybe we can get and FCP night going. I know they have them, but i just can never make the 4 hour drive. I'm sure if nothing else we can find a poker game
Nitro 0
Yeah, it should be interesting to see the turnout next year. Yeah you may have seen me around. I wasn't there this year, but I was there the last two years. You probably know some of my buddies from the island. Yeah a FCP night would be awesome. A lot of ppl from my league are into poker as well, so there'd probably be quite a few of us seeking a poker game lol

Are they making Jump Cues now shaped like Pitching Wedges?PairTheBoard
rivergirl 2
Please don't get me started on jump cues.......it disturbs me that anyone with $100 can play a shot that used to take years to learn and master. I hate to say it, i have one, only because its a handy shot to have but.....it disturbs me to see new players, people who can't hold a full length cue properly practising jump shots instead of try to master the art of making straight in balls consistently. Nitro, you probably know my hubby or at least his team...they won it last year in the mens A....he plays with the guy with the funny ties. I'm sure we could arrange at least a poker game....we had one going in between matches this year...but i'm sure Royal could hook up something with all the FCPers around TO.
