bdc30 0
For the better part of the last 2 years, I have played onlinevery casually, depositing and cashing out at varying times, froma couple different sites. I've never used pokertracker to its full potential, and I take few -if any- notes on most players I play with.I would LIKE to get some insight from the people in strat though becauseI want to make a serious effort at building some type of a roll.I finally think I have the discipline and stability to be able to try it out.So...here's my situation. I have about $700 currently on FCP, with another $300 in "bonus money" to clear. My "plan" or initial thought is to start playing some either 0.50/1 or 1/2 limit, both HE and 7 card stud, as well as throwing in a table or two of$50 max NL.Does this sound reasonable with my BR? Should I start lower?Stick to ONLY limit or ONLY no-limit??What about tourneys or sit-n-go's???I usually play the 5-player sng's either at the $10 or $20 level. To be serious here, should I concentrate on ONLY one game or limit,or is it ok to mix it up....Any input (or even the odd flame, as with 2000-some odd posts one would THINK I would know all this by now...) would be appreciated... Jordan 1
Play the game that makes you the most money, and you have the most fun/enjoyment playing. If that's a cash game, do that. if that's sng, do that. if it's lhe, do that. nlhe, do that...and so forth.Your roll is fine for $50nl cash games. You can beat up $50nl for a lot, just will take some time..but you'd be ready for $100nl soon enoguh.- Jordan
antistuff 0
To be serious here, should I concentrate on ONLY one game or limit,or is it ok to mix it up....For me playing one game too much is an absolute recipie for disaster.
Actuary 3
I don't know Stud; but you have a sufficient Bankroll to play $50 NL, and $1/$2 LHE (250 BB is fine)I'd track my earings/100 hands or ROI for SnG's separately for each game type to make sure I'm not leaking too much in one game and figure out if it's temporary (vaiance) or just a weakness.stick with your idea.the bigger your BankRoll the bigger your earning potential, assuming you want to not go broke by playing underrolled. Think of it as a variable rate deposit that earns more when you put more in it.

Played for the last 3 years...have always won...in fact have never been in the red. Just don't have the discipline to keep my roll. Spend it foolishly when I get bored with poker and then start over. Get wasted and play. Only take a couple notes. Don't use Tracker. Don't pay enough attention. Makes me wonder where I could be right now, or in a couple years, had I paid more attention and learned more. Hence why I'm starting now.
mikeysong 0
yes1/2 limit is perfect for your broll. I was hitting the pokerroom/fcp bonuses w/your roll. I hope you're 4 tabling, it'll be easier to clear the bonus that way. I think for a $300 bonus it takes 16 hours 4tabling 1/2 full ring? I kinda forget but gl man. You should do well. There were some verrrrrrrrrry fishy 1/2 limit games when I played here (1pm est).

bdc30 0
Just a quick update guys, thanks for all the replies.I've run my 700 up to about a grand. $150 of that was thanksto a 3rd place in a $5 PLO tourney on stars, but I'm up about 3-4 buyinsat $50 NL. I've been playing the NL fairly exclusively, and I have about1/4 of my $300 FCP bonus dollars cleared.I'm thinking that once I clear the bonus money, I'm going to move theroll to either party or stars, which both work much better with Pokertracker.I can't seem to get FCP to work with the program.Haven't decided as yet what my actual "goal" is in all of this, but I am very much set in that I am finally going to stick to the games for which I have the proper bankroll. If I can get to $1500-2000, I'll move upto $100 NL, etc. Thanks again guys!

bdc30 0
And, do you have the recent patch for the Ongame network?I didn't, thanks for that. I hadn't even opened up the program sincethey obviously updated it on the 8th. Back up and running (and runningat a nifty 18bb/100 through the first 750 hands I've tracked...)(am i ready to tp/mm? ? ? )
bdc30 0
Update - - - Through the first week and a bit, I've been running pretty well.I've played 5,000 or so hands and have run my deposit up to $1350, at a rateof just over 12BB/100, thanks to my newly working pokertracker.Question now is, what to do...keep grinding it at the $50 max NL game, whichI have been doing faithfully since I posted, start taking some shots at the $100, or set a goal of say $1500-1750-2000 to just totally make the switch to $100 max? Thanks for the encouragement. navybuttons 15
the problem with FCP is there's just not that many games going. i would transfer out of there if you were going to play anything but Heads up hold em.i'm amazed at how bad people play stud these days. if you have an advanced understanding of the game, i think this is where most of your money could be made. but be prepared, even if when you raise with the high card up you always have a high pair, people will suck out on you all the time.keep up the good work. goodluck. iggymcfly 0
Just want to comment quickly on the one game vs. multiple games idea. I think in the long run, you'll be way, way better off mixing it up between different games. If you stick with the same thing, you get bored. At first, your focus just goes down a little bit, then you start allowing yourself to make real mistakes, and pretty soon, you're going through full-fledged tilt. It's fine to focus on one game at once, but I find that I do much better if I switch games at least once a month. I was focusing on NLHE cash games for the last month and a half, and I was killing the games in July, but by August, I was losing on a consistent basis just because I wasn't playing near my best game. Anyway, about a week ago, I switched to Stud for my cash games, while still playing HE tournies, and I feel completly rejuvenated. All the little decisions are interesting again, and I've been killing the games so far. (Up something like 75 BB over 1,500 hands or so.) I actually was really surprised by how soft the mid-limit stud games are on Party. I had someone call down to sixth the other day with ace high, no draws in a 15/30 game. Tons of value to be had out there.
