Chez52 0
Last night I was at the Borgata playing in 1/2 No Limit Hold Em. The game was going good for me. I sat down with about $240 in front of me and after half and hour of playing I was another $100. The following Hand comes upIm in mid position and i get QQ. I raise to $12 which looked to be the stanard raise at the table. The other kid re raises me $20 more. I call. The flop comes 8 7 J. There are about three people in the pot. The re raiser checks and I decide to bet $40 just to see if i can take it down right there. Other guy folds.....the other guy goes all in for 40 more. Eariler on i obersved him play Kings the similiar way. My mind was thinking sets of JAcks or Kings. My gut was telling me that QQ was no good. I think i made a mistake by betting $40. If i bet 20 i prob wold have been able to get away from it. I decided that the pot was so big that with an over pair i had to call. I called he flipped over AA and won. thats the frist time i should have listen to my instint. The next hand comes up a while later. I have about $200 I was down buti fought my way back. This kid under the gun raises to $5 - a pretty small raise. about 5 people called and i look down at K 10 - a good enough hand to call with. The flop comes 10 - 4 - 7. Its checked to me and i bet $15 as a feeler bet. a bunch of people fold and one guy calls - some one else re riases me another $15 - at this point i think im good so i call and the orginal raiser pre flop calls. the turn is a 5 and the kid that bet pre flop bets $50. the guy that re raised me on the flop folds. Now to me that looked like over bet. I mean what can he have. Maybe he had like Q 10. AFter thinking about it for a while - finally call. the river pairs the 7's. He bets $75 - at this point im wondering what the hell is going on. part of me told me that i was beat, but i was too stubboarn to listne and i called - he had QQ. He played it really well and confused me, but once again i just should have followed my instint. I know that i played this hand badley looking at back at itI was just wondering if anyone else has ever had trouble doing this. Like you think your beat but you call for some reason away. I think that Instict is the most important of poker thanks to me not following me mine im donw about $300 dollars. Oh well, I guess this is just to teach me and other players to follow your gut like every poker player says

pokerplayer24 0
the QQ hand wasnt really your fault, stuff like that happens. For the other hand you shouldnt be calling raises with K10 so right off the bat you played the hand badly. You should have known your hand wasn't good for several reasons. First off he raised to 5 from under the gun. A small raise from under the gun or early position in general often makes it obvious that the guy has a monster and wants action. Betting 15 on the flop was fine but once you were reraised you should have known your hand was beat. Wouldn't be surprised if the guy that reraised you then folded to the 50$ bet had A10. The 50$ bet wasnt an overbet considering you 3 people put 30 in on the flop and the pot had to be into the hundreds. In the end though you shouldn't have been in the hand from the get go.
