I dont think that Tournament poker will decrease, but I do think It will plateau. Im thinking the main event will have around the same number of players next year or maybe a little more. There is really no way the fields can nearly double every year like it has been. it just doesnt seem possible to continue.........lots of players have to be going broke

there are a million other people who are 18 like you who are looking forward to being able to play in casinos. as long as that keeps happening poker will be just as big, if not bigger. like the poster above said, the fields will no longer be doubling, but they most likely will stay around the same from now on most likely. cheers. ryan.

I think that if I ever play in the major leagues, and there is a pitch out of the strike zone that the umpire calls a strike to strike me out on, I'm not going to protest. When I come up to bat the next time though, I'll say something like "That last pitch was a little outside, no?" and he'll probably say "It was close. Honestly, I could have gone either way on it, it was a tough call." Yeah, I guess it was. And you've got to feed your family too, I respect that. Your job certainly is not easy.

IMO, the WSOP main event will keep doubling, for decades, even centuries, until the Harrahs decides to create its owen planet to run the World Series. Just my opinion

I hear there's 3 new planets, they can inhabit one of those.

depends what you mean by die down...eventually poker will reach its peak and get to the point where it can only decline. I look at baseball as a prime example, for many years baseball was the #1 sport in america, this i no longer the case but that doesnt mean athletes still dont make millions and that there are no baseball games to go to. Poker is the same way, i think it will reach its peak within the next 5-10 yrs but it will always be big regardless if it goes on a decline.

The answer lies in tv producers hands:Right now Hold'em is getting a lot of tv exposure. It gets that exposure because it is sold to tv broadcasters relatively cheaply. If that continues and "made for tv" events continue then hold'em could last a long time. Also the personalities really add to it. Right now things are perfect you have the old school of Brunson, Cloutier, Chan...etc and you have the young punks Hellmuth, Matusow, aparently Jamie Gold etc. You also have the hero's or nice guys DN, Ivey, etc.. Thrown in some interesting characters like Chris "Jesus" Furguson and the seemingly wild play of guys like Gus Hansen and it makes pretty compelling TV. I'm waiting for the next tv reality show to be a poker reality show. Kind of a "Contender" of poker. Picture Protege only on network Tv with more then a one table final tourney but players lives followed and heads up tourneys and other things thrown in the mix. Hold'em is here to stay ahwile I think.-Bear
