Worst Structure Ever?

So our local card club only deals limit for cash games, and only rarely has NL tournaments. But recently, they added SnGs one night a week. Unfortunately, it appears to have the worst structure in history. Is it my imagination, or would have just as good a chance playing slot?Blind levels 15 minutesStart with 300 chipsLevel 1: 10/15Level 2: 10/25Level 3: 25/50Level 4: 50/100Level 5: 100/200Level 6: 200/400Level 7: 400/800Level 8: 800/1600So basically, at 30 hands per hour, if you don't get a hand in the first 7, your M is already under 10. By the time it goes around the table twice, you've probably had the blinds twice, and if you haven't won a hand, your M is 3. If you took a stab at a hand and miss, it's all-in from there out. I've been waiting for them to get SnGs or some regular NL play, but this seems a bit silly.

thats just dumb...300 is like one big hand if that. hopefully they realize that it isnt going to work and start everybody with like 1500 or so to make the game enjoyable. Or switch up the structure to accomadate the 300

The best low limit structure ever.....1000 starting + 1000 unlimited rebuys + 1000 add ons25/5050/100Once you dodge the insanity of the rebuy period, you could have anywhere from 2100-10000. Then the blinds are:20 min levels...100/200200/400300/600400/800break500/10001000/20002000/40003000/60004000/80005000/10000 until it endsBy the time it gets to 1k/2k there are usually about 15 people left and about half the people have 10 BB. Not bad for a B&M.

whats to explain?final table usually blinds are 10K/20K, use 10K chips 160K total chips in play. 8 players, math. etc

Yep, that's the one. I'm tempted to do it once just for the gamble. If you hit a hand in the first 7, it may become playable if you stay lucky. But I'd definitely know that it's about gambling, and not about poker. Maybe it's a misprint, and really it is 3000 chips to start.And to the poster before that, I don't know if anyone actually plays it. Probably so, there are lots of people who don't understand tournaments. Or people like me who are willing to do it as a lark once or twice. I probably won't because it is so silly, but you know, maybe just once.

lolI work as a dealer in a big poker room and this structure is bad but it is pretty standard for card rooms. We have a bunch of sit-n-go's you can play but depending on the buy in the chips you start out with change. Small buy in's (10,20,30,50)get 500 in chips with 25 25 blinds and 15 minute rounds and even the big buy in sit-n-go's (100 - 500) you get 1000 chips with the same blinds and structure. All sit-n-go's are like this, they are not worth playing unless you are actually playing for a seat in a bigger buy-in tourney.

I'm surprised Canterbury even spreads SNGs...they usually are able to fill all 36 tables. But that would explain why its only 300 chips to start. You can always play their blackjack...for .50 a hand.

I don't think any "Big cardrooms" have a tourny with 300 starting stack and blinds at 15/30 for 15minutes. This is not standard at all by any means. Your cardroom must be awful.

the worst structure I have ever seen is at a local cardroom6000 in starting chips 1 add-on of 1500 chips20 minute levels for the first 3 levels and then the ante levels are 15 minutes50/100100/200200/400300/600 100 ante500/1000 2001000/2000 5002000/4000 1000and both blinds and antes double every level after that. My problem is the competition is so weak it's tempting.

Hey Doooosh bag, your sng's have starting stacks of 500. That doesnt happen often, if anywhere. Re-read the post, and you're still dumb. You DO say that "this structure is pretty standard in cardrooms" referring to the starting stack of 300 etc. I have never, ever , ever heard of even one card room with this structure, neverless it being standard.10 man sng's with 1500 start stack, 10/20 blind start, and decent time intervals are not bad, and in fact, standard.

this structure is very common in a lot of small casino's in vegas - its simply a cash grab and a way to get a live game started.
