Ft. Lauderdale/pompano Beach

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be in Pompano Beach, FL for business next week, and I'm looking to hit up a card room or two while I'm down there. I'd prefer casinos north of Ft. Lauderdale, but if there is great one downtown or a little south, I might be willing to drive down there. I want to play some low stakes NL (1/2) or low limit (3/6 or 4/8). Any suggestions?

basically you're looking at the greyhound tracks or possibly there's a boat down in that area.Rakes are HUGE... stakes are VERY small (limit only last time I checked).Tourney rakes are 30%+ and structures are HORRIBLE.You'd be better off betting on the dogs, serisously.

Well, I'm back. I found 3 card rooms (and I didn't see Rollin's post before I left). I played at the Hard Rock Casino a few nights...always $1/$2 LHE. I played one night at Dania Jai-Alai...plus I put some money on Jai-Alai...that is one crazy *** game. Then I headed down to the Hollywood Greyhound Track and played $2/$2 O8/b. I didn't do particularly well at any of the rooms, but I only ended the trip down about $100 through about 15 hours of play. Hollywood and Dania were both pretty crappy rooms, but the level of play was also crappy so those would be the more profitable rooms in the long run. The Hard Rock is nice, but more focused on tournaments than cash games. The most fun I had was playing with a bunch of regulars at the dog track. I was playing 1/2 LHE and was on the interest list for O8. They ended up opening an O8 table and I was the only person there that didn't know everybody else. They opened that table in the back corner of the room, isolated by at least one empty table from every other one in the room. It became apparent why after the game started. These guys were ragging on each other the ENTIRE time. It was hilarious, and they didn't seem to mind when I jumped in with an insult every now and then. By the end of a 5 hour session, I felt like one of the crew. I was there when the table formed and it broke after I lost the last of my $60 buy-in (it was going to break soon anyway...we were down to 6 handed at that point). I'll definitely try to get back into that game if I have to go back down to Ft. Lauderdale.Anyway...got some work done, had some fun, lost some money and added 3 more casinos to my "visited" list. I'm up to 35 casinos in 7 states.
