Money022 0
This question is directed to those that started from square one, low limits, and worked their way up to high limit games and have proven to be successful at it.How did you do it, how long did it take?

pokerplayer24 0
3-4 months, lots of hands and willing to take shots at the next level even if your bankroll isnt quite there yet.

milestodavid 0
I think what he meant to say was, "Don't be afriad to take shots at the higher level, but stay within your bankroll." Management is the key to not going broke.

Money022 0
win, play within your bankroll, patience.Yes, all are key to moving up.Maybe I should have been more specific with my query. I was hoping to hear success stories from those who have started very low and worked their way up to higher limits. Proper bankroll management, patience, and educating yourself through practice and study are all assumed. I guess you figure most people start from the bottom and spend years working their way up. It would be interesting to hear those stories/timelines if anyone would like to share. Obviously hearing about those who made it to high stakes limits would be extremely interesting, but even those on a smaller scale who have worked their way from say $10 NL and $25 NL or $1/$2 FL up to $400 NL tables or 10/20 games would also be very interesting to hear about. Not to mention encouraging.
Zeatrix 0
I started playing the micro limits at Paradise and slowly thought myself some lessons of bankroll management. At one time I was playing 5/10 with 80 Big Bets =) Obviously it didn't last. After beeing stuck at the 1/2 & 2/4 FL levels for the longest time I finally started moving up in about november last year. In April I was playing 15/30 with 300 BB.But I was probably in a rush, after making 11k in April I haven't had a big winning month since and is currently rebuilding my roll at 5/10 and 10/20. Man I miss 15/30 =)
throwemaway 0
A minor success story...I started playing online about 2 years ago I think, off and on to start..Took a break for a while, and in March my buddy gave me 5.50 to play a sng on Stars...Played it and won and payed him back the 5.50...So I was left with like 17 bucks or something like that..Kept playing low limit sngs and added in the 4.40 180 person sngs..Since March, I have yet to go broke and now have a BR of about $1300-1400..Not anything spectacular, but a nice run for only 5 months time and considering I didn't have a ton of success before hand..They key for me has been just playing within my bankroll, eliminating my cash game tilt sessions that have plagued me in the past, and still do occasionally, and really concentrating on improving my MTT game..Hope this throws a bit of motivation your way, it can be doneGl
alf13 0
I once got up to playing 25-50 NL and 30-60 Limit by just drinking alot and winning at 5-10 NL and 10-20 limit.I have a brain now. I think. Maybe.
Knight_Owl 0
Its easy to be ignorant or lazy and not want to purchase a few helpfull poker books to improve ones game. I had to finally admit to myself that I dont know everything about the game and theres something I'm missing! So picking up Internet Texas Holdem Winning strategies from an Internet Pro Has improved my game as well as The Zen of Poker Besides that, asking myself why am I "folding, checking or raising" and attempting ot put a villian on a range of hands when I"m involved with that player. Also labeling each player with the information I used when I finally purchased PokerTracker And of course joining FullContactpoker.com and reading and adding to the strategy forums. And it helps to have someone in real life that plays poker to talk on the phone with and hang out and talk about strategty! And Overall NOT TILT, and look at it as simply as wasting time. All those Factors are the Main Factors that has enabled me to improve my game and become a better poker player. I still have a way to go the more I'm involved the more I think that its a ongoing learning process theres no "end"GL 2 U

troyomac 0
Laughed out loud on that one. Don't knock it till you've tried it. I had my roll at around 1000, got drunk one night and decided to put it all into a 5/10 NL game. I won 3700 that night, and from there I started playing 1/2NL to work up the roll somewhat properly. FourFlusher 0
I read all the bank roll mangagement stuff, and, believe it to be the right thing for me, but...I also think that "high stakes" players, the real ones, the elite we see on tv seem to have a common thread in their history....no fear of going broke. Lots of them started with little and jumped in with both feet, going broke and starting over, repeat as necessary.
