Let's forget for a second "who's right or wrong" here. This poll question deals solely with whether or not what these seven players are doing is a good or bad thing for the poker world.
most biased poll ever. Daniel, you obviously know that a poll on this website will be extremely biased towards your opinion. Why bother even starting this??

While the majority of people here have DN as their "favorite poker player." that doesn't mean the only reason I voted "no" was because of him. I HIGHLY respect Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson and Greg Raymer but I just think this lawsuit is completely dumb.

I did my own survey on the streets of Toronto...I asked 30 people what they think about the group of 7's lawsuit... 29 didn't know what the hell I was talking about, 1 person wondered who the painters were suing...Maybe add a 3rd choice "The public's perception of Poker (online or otherwise) will not change one bit regardless of wether the lawsuit happens or not".

but DN, didnt you say that there is one aspect of the lawsuit that could be very bad for poker but you couldn't tell us what that thing was. Well, without knowing what that really important aspect is, how can we really decide?

So far the poll numbers are 13-8. I'd hardly say that shows an overwhelming bias. Besides, no one ever said that the poll run in here resembles the entire poker world, I was just more curious than anything. They should run a poll on CardPlayer for that. Actually, running it on CardPlayer would probably get a bias opinion the other way, since most people who don't know anything about the lawsuit would just side with the 7 players.

Will read www.wptlawsuit.com ,and get back to you."This statement ignores one of the principal claims of the lawsuit against WPT: that WPT and the casinos that host its tournaments have unlawfully conspired to eliminate, and prevent the creation of, competing televised poker tournaments. In particular, the casinos have agreed that they will not host any televised poker tournaments other than WPT tournaments. As a result, there is no realistic possibility of a competing tour, and there are fewer televised poker tournaments for poker players to compete in, and for poker fans to enjoy." How many casino's are left over after WPT ? I call Bull**** !!

I myself am not a lawyer, but I also think it is bad timing, and whatever the outcome is, i dont think it will help the overall poker community. I dont know that many details of the lawsuit, so my opinion could change. But it seems the ratio of players for it and oposed to it, is not in the 7's favor. 'And for Greg Raymer, try to show some class, and respect for someones oposing opinion. And if you listened to Daniels blogs, and still think your comments are valid. Well im surprised that you even made it to law school. Daniel your the man!Ok i went to go read up on the situation, and the 7 players have a valid point, the fact that the wpt has full acess to their images and name to promote their products or anything they want is wrong. Even though not much has happend yet for anyones career and name to get hurt. The fact that wpt has those rights on paper its a scarry thing, and im not one to trust big buisness. Even though the players dont get a cut of products that the wpt is selling, thats wrong in its self, i dont know how other shows work out, but its sounds ilegal. as far as the right to the casinos and producing their own shows, i believe in a open market and competition should be welcomed. But the wpt is the show, i dont know what their really worried about. America is not a monopoly. Daniel does have some good points as well. And my comment for greg ramer still stands, guy needs to be respectfull, instead of nasty name calling, try to have a healthy debate. Alright later people, gonna go play some poker!

The only real way to assess bias would be to compare the results from this poll to the results from the actual unbiased beliefs of poker players. Anyway, I don't see how this lawsuit will affect anything other than the WPT and live tournament poker. It will not impact internet poker or the pending legislation. I think it will have a good effect.EDIT:FYI: 2+2 has a similar poll

i fully agree with DN on this issue. i personally think whoever wins it won't matter much. It'll be fine the way it is, and it would be fine if it changed. But this is defintely bad publicity for the game, ESPECIALLY since the online gaming law up in the air. This is only going to add more fuel to the fire.

I bet if you put NO on the top it would have more votes by now. Lots of people just pick the first answer when they see polls. I am not saying this is a proven fact...just my opinion. :)Daniel, I have a question for you about the Raymer "chat" issue. Did you ever talk to Raymer about this or are you going by what someone put in a post as fact? Would hope you would not get pissed about something until you found out for sure it was actually said by Raymer and not someone stirring up more trouble.Ed

Unfortunately, this will get very ugly. The 7 players will win their lawsuit if you just base it on the facts and the law as I have heard it. The problem is the WPT will run these players thru the mud most likely and poker as a whole will get the black eye.Too bad Mr Berman and these 7 can not just sit down and work this out for the good of the game. There are bigger battles that the attention of all these people could be focused on like saving online poker in the USA.There is plenty of money for everyone to share in, as shown brightly in the Main Event's $80+ million dollar prize pool and the corporate sponsorship we see rising in this sport.Regards,

Daniel I respect you and think you are one of the greatest players around, but it looks like this thing is gonna happen regardless of what anyone says. It might be better to grit your teeth and try not to think about it than to get all these people mad at you. They are fighting for something they believe, it might be wrong or right, good or bad for poker, but I guess in the end it is theirs to win or lose. This issue could be almost like the abortion issue or other issues like that. Each side has it's mind made up and no matter what either side says, no one's mind is about to change.Everything has already been set into motion, so all we can really do now is kick back and wait. I don't know if any of this arguing is going to help anything and I hate to see you guys fight.
