If Harrahs Were Smart...

Recommended Posts

They would match this dudes donations to the MJF charity. Not only would it be all over the news showing the generousity of players but these casinos that take everyones money are actually giving it away to good causes. Not only would it make the tournament even bigger it would take a big chunk of the negatve attitude towards poker...not to mention it would be a HUGE PR boost for Harrahs.Thats just smart buisness IMO.

If Harrah's was smart they would raise the rake they are getting from the WSOP, hire bottom level dealers to keep the wages low, same with floor managers. They would create food court to make more money from players, and they would move the ME final table to another casino to handle the circus effect that really gives them little to no money since they make their money on the front end.Wait...they already did this.Okay, if they were smart they would put a craps table next to whichever table Tj and Ted Forrest are playing, and a pay per ball driving net next to Daniel's table

I think it would be a mistake. The problem with kind gestures is that if they're discontinued, it makes you look bad. So if they donated this year, but not next year, everyone jumps on them. These are the reasons why the media sucks.

The FT is at Binion's?[/quoteI Havent heard that. This was supposed to be the first year its NOT. But maybe he meant the Rio rather than actually having it at Harrahs.Or maybe The FT is at a different place.Havent heard anything like that though.

See they key thought is the MATCH IT. Since you are unlikely to get a potential winner to give up 15mil or whatever..it shouldnt be an issue. At least i think so.

Wouldn't be bad. Except that Harrahs = Corporate Conglomerate that doesn't care about anything except bottom line.
Actually, i think the OP is saying that this might generate publicity that would ultimately help the bottom line.

But if you look at the reverse implied odds people would see through the obvious publicity stunt and it would have the opposite intended effect. Maybe I'm just giving people too much credit.

I wouldn't care if it was just a publicity stunt, so long as multiple millions went to research. Sure, Harrah's would benefit due to the positive publicity they'd get, but more importantly, the charity would benefit.

If they were smart ? - - - 87.7 Million in rake on one of the events / $75.6 Million paid out in the prize pool ... Ohhhhhh They're smart. but if he won there's not enough good will to make that donation up ...+ He's manager of greenlight , a huge hedge fund - he wipes his A$$ with million dollar bills + he's gained some fantastic press for a great cause where he sits on the board of directors ... :club:
