Buying Playmoney?

Recommended Posts

It freaked me out yesterday real bad, but I found a site that sells and buys play money chips and only from Pokerstars. The rates are extremely low, something like $4.5 for a million in chips. But I just can´t get it: why would somebody want to pay money for play money chips? Thoughts?

For the poker player that loves to donk around but not risk real money, it's a $5 investment to have almost limitless play money time with big stacks. I can think of a lot stupider things people have done for way more money :club:

Agreed. But let´s say if you play play money at Full Tilt you can get a $1000 reload every 5 minutes. Besides, play money is always play money, no matter which stakes you are playing, right?

No what I mean is, some people don't play at ANY stakes. Not everybody who plays online poker plays for real money. They just enjoy the game for occasional fun/competition. So for that type of player, it's fun to have a million in chips to throw around instead of having to bust out 1000 at a time in a small limit game.

i've always found high stakes play money much more challenging than micro stakes real money, especially in sit n' goes. Maybe they just want an unlimited bankroll to practice with. I have no idea really, but this is my only guess.

Whats so funny noob? It's probably true at least 50% of the time.
Yeah, i have seen some really good high roller games with play money. It get to be about the same as a 1-2 nolim game, close anyway. But they usually have to be playin 1000-2000 nl play to get a "good" game

Before I trusted online poker I got all my learning in at play money. Many of those players know a lot more then your typical "lets throw in $10 and play nickel poker to see what happens" players. Not to say play money games are typically good, far from it. But we've all seen the ridiculous stuff that happens at real money microlimits.

A couple of my friends use playmoney on pokerstars to play for real money. So they will use a certain amount and whoever loses owes the winner a certain amount of money in real life.

Why are you so touchy if i find that statement to be funny? Regardless of how much time you've spent grinding away at the play money tables, the fact of the matter is that it is play money that is being used, and there is nothing "challenging" to maintaining or protecting a stack that doesnt exist anyways.

You're just wrong. Consider this simple fact. Some people actually take it seriously!

Yeah but how many stories have you read in the paper where somebody looses 100 mil play and goes out and kills themselves?Compare with any storeies you have read where somebody looses 100k, 50k, even 25k, and shoots themselves

what is the site?i haven't played play money in a long time and wouldn't mind selling my chips.
I don´t want to spam you all with the link. They are not buying any at the moment anyway. Guess there is quite a number of people eager to sell them. :club:

You are right but uhhh, I don't see what that has to do with the comparison between play money and micro limits

you said some of these people take the high rolling play money very seriously, not as serious as real money though, thus, you willnever find a play money game near as good as even a low limit game (like 2-5 nl) IMHOThere are some good "high stakes" play money games, but not quite real as there is no real value to play money

We never said anything about 2-5NL. We were talking about microlimit. nickel and dime tables. And play money games are (seriously) often way better then what goes on at microlimits.

I rremember a few years ago all I had was play money. I took the free tournments on Pokerstars so seriously and I tried so hard in them. I would play 3 hours, get 100th out of 5000 and be happy. It helped me gain a little bit of experiance at least and let me work on my game. Now Im a winning poker player and hopefully never need to use play money again

And i agreed at the beginning of this postI'm gonna stop arguing with you over something that has no relevence whatsoever, i was makeing a different point, not pointing at mircro-limit games.
