Willing 2 Die 0
Good day gents and ladies. This is my first post here (i've been lurking for about a month). I thought i'd ask for some advice from some of you about the 'roll.Basically, my short story is that i worked a $20 no deposit nec. bonus up to $500 in about 70-80 hours of micro-limit NLHE. I started at .05-.10 cent, moved to .10-.20 NL, then recently i have played .25-.50 cent. I am trying not to move up too fast. The plan is to cash out $500 when i reach $600. Then from there, work back up to where i am at, and move up limits a little bit more once i reach around 500-600 again. My question is, around what limits should i be playing at with this bankroll, and what limits could i get by playing? My goal is to get to 1-2 NL within the next month or so.Thanks for the input, and i enjoy reading your responses.

Flack_attack 0
You're not even close to the proper roll for 1-2 NL.500 is good for .50-1 limit.
sirch1 0
you should have a bare minimum of 3k for 1-2 NL and thats on the short side
navybuttons 16
i like chris fergusons advice: 'never play when the buy in more than 5% of your bankroll. drop down if you have to.' that seems pretty solid to me.

Too many suckouts. I've found that i can do just as well with NL (even when i have a session when im not getting any cards) because there is always one donk that will bluff his stack to me. Your running good and you'll never build your roll without taking some shots. Even in one of Daniels video blogs he talks about playing 400-800 on a 15k roll (I think that was the limits). If you go broke you didn't even lose anything, since its all house money.
rockytrh 0
since you didn't pay anything to get where you are, i would recomend that you attempt a .25-.5 nl game, bring 50 bucks, see if you have work it to

I think that i take a very wise approach to grinding it out on the cash tables. I play very TAG, and the only times i lose my buy in is when it is a huge suck out by my opponent (AA vs KK and lose) In general, I make good decisions and am willing to lay down top pair, great kicker when strength is shown. I don't win everytime i play, but when i lose, i minimize the losses, and maximize my wins when im playing well. Most of my money made is just a matter of capitilizing on donk all-in mistakes, and trapping. I loosen things up when i'm up, but before that, there is not a lot of skill to it.That said, there is no way i would take it up to 5-10 NL. If i were to do anything crazy right now, maybe 1-2 nl at the most, but thats not happening. I'm very comfortable with the progress ive made, and i want to cash this money out to show myself that i can have that patience and not blow it, and im confident that i can do it again. Johnny_Utah 0
I am like you in that I play the lower limits and just capitalize on idiots mistakes. You don't have to be awesome to do this, just play smart. I usually stick to .25/.50 or .50/1.00 PLHE and PLO8. People are major idiots on PLO8 and all you really have to do is be patient. It sounds like you are doing well and I wouldn't worry about moving up so quick. Just keeping making extra change the way you are for now.

Johnny_Utah 0
PLO8 is definantly where the fish are.Where do you play it? Some literally don't even really know the rules. I've seen players regularly play three of a kind in their hand until the end.

I think, maybe 25 buyins is a bit much. Perhaps i am mistaken with the 25 buyins
