Daniel At The No-limit Hold'em Championship

Recommended Posts

jon finkel is the man too. he was the world champion in Magic for a while, like the best player in the world until that one guy kai budde showed up. i'm pullin for finkel and DN and ivey, though one of those 3 aint doin too well.
Yeah, I didn't even know about Finkel playing poker until recently. That makes four or five Magic pros that have caught the poker bug. What kind of twisted game is it where David Williams is better than John ****ing Finkel? :-PHaving a lot of fun tracking the progress and wishing I didn't suck this year.

I think the average stack is a lot less than half of 331K - with a little under 1200 players left the average should only be about 75K.With 331K he's in great shape...
8730 / 1200 = 7.2710k * 7.27 = 72,700331 / 73 = 4.54.5 + DN = good chance for FT action

I think there are still more than 1500 players left, putting the average stack only around 58,000. With that in mind, there are not really any short-stacks at DN's table.

8730 Entrants1159 Players remainAverage Stack - 75,323Looks like there's only two players below average at DN's table... on the upside that just means theres more chips for him to take
I know DN is the best when it comes to ultra aggressive play. A lot of players in the game try to pull it off and be agressive and fail; DN is clearly a 'Doctor' in the field and his chances look excellent here today.Because he is now "expected" to be aggressive w/ the table chip lead and play marginal hands to showdowns, should he play more tight aggressive now or keep gambling? I would think he should wait for hand here; and log some kills instead of raising w/ marginal hands and getting called or shorter stacks going all in on him. Any thoughts?I know it would be intuitive for him to slow down here, and the reason he plays in a counter intuitive manner is why he's one of the best players in the game today. But why gamble? All hands get beat, etc. but with his chip count wouldn't he want to get the best of it percentages wise at least until we get down to it?

down to what, he still needs like 80 million more chips to win. lol

Is there any place on this site where Daniel has said anything since day 2 ended? I realize he "owes" us nothing :D) but damn, I'd love to hear what's on his mind going into day 3! Does he not realize we live vicariously through him?! :club:

:club: No problem MOM!!! You are the //official Mom\\ of the forums... you can do whatever you want... We are all proud of Brian.
Thank you...what an honor! I'm sure Brian wouldn't be in agreement with you telling me that I can do whatever I want. However, I do want to thank everyone associated with FCP for all the support and encouragement that you have given to your 1st Protege. It has surely been a thrill of a lifetime for us all. We have appreciated your best wishes and kind words.

The blog should be up by now, did it last night. As for my approach, I won't be slowing down one bit. In fact, I'll probably go from playing 75% of the hands to about 85%.
Awesome

What a great strategy. I've have used this in both no limit hold'em and pot limit omaha tournaments after your tips in pot limit omaha. It's worked pretty well.

Ya cause there is going to be some big mystery when he is playing 75-85% of the hands as to what he is doing.

Johnson All-in Versus NegreanuOn a flop of 8d6h2c James Johnson ($59,300) leads out for $6,000 and Daniel Negreanu ($331,000) calls. Johnson bets $6,000 at the 7d turn and Negreanu raises to $26,000 and Johnson moves all-in for $43,300. Negreanu calls with 9c9s versus Johnson's QcQd. The river J brings no help to Negreanu and he loses a big pot early, falling to $271,700 while Johnson doubles up.

it shouldn't take them to long to realize he's playing 85% of hands, unless they REALLY aren't paying attention
well there are alot of novices still left... :club: although I admit playing 85% of the hands when your CL at the table and so close to the bubble is a great strategy.
