Tim,this is not up to your standard post quality.
I take it you are not taking the bet? That's an incredible +EV situation.Just placing the $1100 on the Steelers, assuming they are 50/50 to cover the spread, you are looking at a +$EV of $500. With ~zero risk.
with 2 days left in the month.MTT: - $43 (2 final tables)SNG: + $219 (only out of 15)ROI 146%ITM 53%$50 NL holdem: + $85$25 PL OMAHA: - $82 (i really need to stop playing this or learn how to play it)***TOTAL: + $178meh
How did you lose money overall with MTTs and have 2 final tables?
pokertracker.comNo. Virtual memory is essentially RAM stored on the HD.
It slows the crap out of my crappy *** laptop when it's retreiving the hands every 3 minutes...****************2 more nights left in August, but I doubt I will play tonight... yeah, I prolly will... either way, full monthly report of my highs, and my invariable lows coming after the 31st. It has been an exciting month.- Zach

I did not review it.Wonder what the catch is.I just thought it was atypical for Tim.

If you read through the threads in our General, or the 2+2 or the P5s thread, you will see a ton of proof that there is no catch, and that Mansion did this once before, the bet lost, and they did reimburse everyone, so it seems legit to me.I'm just trying to figure out if I'll manage to scrounge up $1100 US after paying off my Neteller debt and still leaving myself enough of a BR to play with for a week while this clears. Without hedging it's pretty much a 50/50 shot at $1000.

From what I can see, it's basically like a $500 deposit bonus. Don't think there's any catch at all. They're just trying to attract new customers before the start of football season. They'll probably slow the cashouts down for a few weeks, but if you have a BR of over $5,000, I don't think there's much downside. I might wait a few days, because I'm using my Neteller account to get as much money into Pinnacle as possible by Saturday (I love betting college football), but I'll definitely do it as long as they don't cancel the promotion.

Basically, if I can add another grand to my BR by the 5th or something, which is pretty possible on a good run, and lots of hands. I will do this promotion. As it stands right now, after paying off some debt at the end of the month (neteller), my BR would only be like $1300, so clearly $1100 of that is way too much to burn through. Even if I could get $500 more, I could go without the $1100 for a week or two for a chance at the extra $1k that would mean a lot to my BR.- Zach

August ResultsWell, August has been pretty much my best month in poker, to date.As usual, it did not come without some adversity, however. The Story:For me, the month really broke down into 2 sections:1) Aug 1st - Aug 8th:I was working on a staking deal, which would land me ~$200 on my own at the end of it to begin to build my BR. I managed to make the required amount by playing mostly SNG's, and I was happy to get that out of the way quickly.2) Aug 9th - Aug 31st:Finally, I was on my own again, with my own bankroll, which is something I hadn't really had for a long time. However, I only had $235, which I made on the stake. So the goal, was to make as much as possible. With all the old LHE players getting into NL and making a killing, I decided to finally give it a shot.I won't lie here. I was definitely taking a shot. I started playing $25 NL to get the feel for NL, but quickly started mixing in some $50 NL, and then very quickly after that, jumped into $100 NL. Like I said, I was taking shots. I would give 1-2 tables of $100 NL shots while my BR was only like $500 total, so I was definitely running a risk. Luckily for me, I ran really well to start it off.I managed to turn that $235 into about ~$2375 before I ran into a few bad beats and dropped off a bit, so I had around $1900-$2000 or so, still playing $100 NL. Stars tables were starting to annoy me though, as I was having trouble finding any good tables most of the time. So, I decided to take some money back to my old nemesis, Party Poker. This is where things went bad. As usual, on Party, I started off winning, and I had turned the $250 I started with there into about $640, playing $100 NL cash games. Then, I was about to go to the movies, and I had like 10 minutes to kill, so for some reason, poor judgment got the better of me, and I decided to open up Party BJ and mess around with some $2 bets. As usual, I escalated that into $75 bets as I continued to lose, and managed to lose the entire $640 that I had on there. Pretty typical from me, but the last time I do it.I deleted the BJ, and threw another $300 on Party to get back in the soft NL games, and found a real soft $200 NL game, after losing a buyin at $100 NL. With all of my Party money on the table (~$210ish), I flopped a flush with JTs on the button, but ended up losing a HUGE pot, and all of my money on the the site to Q2s, who also flopped the flush. So, needless to say, I decided to stick with Stars again for a while, and work that money back. I played some more NL on there, and continued to run pretty poorly, and my BR had slipped to about $1000 thanks to some bad beats at the tables, and bad decisions both at the poker table, and the decision to play BJ.From there, on August 27th, I decided to play a $22 180-man MTT on Stars. I'd had moderate success in these before. Of the few I played, I managed to pull off a 5th place finish for $234, however, this time was different.I played quite well, IMO, and actually went on to win my first large tournament ever when I called a huge overbet all in with 2nd pair, with 54o, and it held. I cashed for $1080.That was pretty lucky, IMO, and got my BR back to where it was before the BJ incident. I was back to about $2100 after that, and from there, I went back to the NL games on Stars.Still playing $100 NL, I went on a nice run over the last 4 days of the month, and ended up getting my BR up to ~$2950.From that roll, I managed to pay off a buddy I owed $140, and I just paid off my Neteller debt, which was $1050, from a few months ago. With that, my bankroll going into September will be roughly $1650.All of this from $235 on Aug 9th. Managed to finally build myself a full, real bankroll again, AND pay off a huge chunk of my debts!Another goal for mine, which I didn't state explicitly, was to win a tourney, and the 180 man was a great thrill for me. I really want to win a real MTT now, and see if I can get a big score under my belt.Oh yeah, also, I managed to find a way to NINE-table on my laptop, and have been doing that comfortably for the last 2 nights. I'm still working on whether it has a large decrease on my winrate or not, but over 2 nights, I'm running at , but my hourly rate was 13 ptbb/100, which is slightly higher than my overall winrate. That's over 2300 hands of 9-tabling. My hourly rate during that span was a whopping $78.20, so even when my wr drops, I'll still be able to sustain a much higher hourly rate. One more thing. By 9-tabling, I managed to amass like 1000 VPPs on Stars in 2 nights, and jumped up to Goldstar with 10 minutes before the deadline. The Numbers:Aug 9th - Aug 31st:NL Cash:e77cf3dc42.jpgcf5a829903.jpgTotal Hourly Rate (Cash games):$22.10/hourTourney Results:~ + $1,000 (I don't keep proper records of tourney results).Final Bankroll:$1,653.44Total Debt paid off:$1,190.00I'd say it was a succesful month. Here's to September being just as great!- Zach

Despite August being one of my worst months in a year, I still made $1.5k, and I was happy that I rebounded from July. Besides, I really didn't put in many hours this month getting back into school and social stuff.I ended the month on some pretty positive notes. I might be plunging back into SHLHE. My game/confidence there has fully recovered. If I can keep running well there, I'll be well on my way to pushing my roll back up.

Since it is officially September now, here goes:Started the month off with $125 on Stars. Up and down with some sng's, then I started to get the hang of them. Made some money and moved up to the $10 sng's. Also won an entry to the Sunday Million and used the T$ for sng buy-ins. Bankroll is now at $500ish, with $77.50 withdrawn for the FCPPC, which I am hoping to do well in. Hope everybody else had a good month too. Zach you are crazy, and I am jealous. Good job.

Well, as usual I was really optimistic when setting my goals for August. Even though my BR was only about $5K going into the month, I decided that I could make $15K profit.I ended the month with the following breakdown:Live playCasino play: -$700Home games: (OK, it was one home game) +$4700Online playNLHE/LHE cash games: -$5965PL Omaha: -$1411SnGs/MTTs: +$92837-card stud: +$5681TotalsLive play: +$4000Online play: +$7588Overall August results: +$11,588I just started the Stud games a week or so ago, so I'm feeling really good about them right now. I'm hoping that I'll be able to reap some big rewards there next month. All the profit in the tournament results are from my one big cash this month where I got 2nd in a $150+12 and made $9,700. I'm up a little bit on SnGs, but it cancels with my other MTT losses. The cash game losses are all from NL (I was actually up $300 or so in maybe 400 hands of limit), as I really lost the concentration necessary to beat those games after a while. It seemed like as soon as I made one mistake, I'd go into calling station tilt, occasionally followed by "everybody's folding, I can't build a big pot, maybe I should start raising to 10BB PF every time" tilt. I still think NL cash games could be profitable for me, but I'd have to cut the number of hands I play waaay down. Maybe 3,000 a month as a breather from Stud and SnGs.Oh, and not that I should really include this, and I'm certainly not proud of it, but I'm probably up a little over $2K for the month on Party blackjack. I had a night a week ago, where I was basically just giving money away at the casino in a 1/2 NL game after getting my big cash, and I was really pissed at myself, so when I came home, I decided to get a few hundred back playing BJ. Well, I hit a massive heater, won like 8 hands in a row with a bunch of splits and double downs, and four minutes later, I got out up $1600. Since then, I've had a few smaller sessions where I just try to win $100 or $200 because "it's so easy". I really do need to stop that though. Even when I start at $10 a hand, I'm always up to $100 in no time.Anyway, I didn't reach any of my goals (the others were never play above my BR... not even close, and put in a bunch of hours on NL cash games which I basically gave up on halfway through the month). But I still feel like I had a good month. I ended up with a good profit, and I found a good game to work on for the next month. As things stand now, I'm going to take a trip to Vegas in October to scout things out, then finish up my DUI trial from 10 months ago, and hopefully move down there by January or so. It's never quite as smooth or easy as you think, but in the long run, things are working out.
