Zach6668 513
So, I finally had a bad day at NL! :DLOL, I'm actually quite relieved, although most of it was through pretty bad play. I had it coming though. I took a few two outers, and then made a few pretty loose call downs.I ended up down $315 on the day, which is pretty bad, but like I said, I'm a bit relieved to finally hit a down patch before I got ahead of myself with this constant winning. :PEither way, back at it tonight with the intention of making it all back, and then some.... maybe. My total BR is up to $1885ish at this point, down from $2100 the day before. With a little over a week left in the month, I think I'd like to see how close to 3K I can get it.I plan on playing as much as I can until school starts on Sept 7th, so my real goal is to get to at least 4k by 9/7. At the pace I'm running, if I can get the hands in, I think I should be ok if I continue to play well, and avoid self-destruction.$4k will pay off the bulk of my bills, and leave me with a nice little $2,000 BR to continue to play at $100NL and get more hands in before I jump to $200 NL sometime after that.- Zach

CobaltBlue 662
Got back to playing some mid-stakes SHLHE this evening and had a good session. I was fortunate to have a 98/85/2.5 on my direct right for several hours. Granted, PT doesn't work with Bodog, so I'm guessing, but I'm not even kidding with those stats.Oh, and I made some strat posts from the session over in Short-Handed. ChrisRichey 1
I have been doing pretty good this past week. My bankroll is up to $350, from the $125 I deposited on Stars at the beginning of the month. I am now playing about a 75/25 mix of $10 9 person sng's and $5 9 person sng's, with the 75% being the $10 ones. It was the opposite, but a pretty decent run has boosted my bankroll. For the rest of the month, I would like to get to $400 or $450 and continue to learn as much as possible.
TheCinciKid 0
I won $250 in a freeroll tonight. Took my $50+4 Tournament ticket that I won in the WSOP pool and won a SnG with it. Very happy to score $250 for free. I also finally had a winning session of 2/4. I think my downswing is finally breaking. I played 400 hands and won 22 BB. I felt like I played pretty well, took a few ridiculous beats and didn't catch many draws, but still managed to come out on top. Very encouraging. I wish I could say the same about my MTT play. I made it deep in 2 of those tonight, but was very shortstacked in both and ended up busting out short of the money. I'm starting to wonder if MTTs might be a bit of a leak for me. While I think I'm in the black overall, I don't have records from before June of this year and I'm pretty sure I'm down since I started keeping records. However, that doesn't include a couple of good scores I had in May and early June. Still, I think my MTT ROI is probably fairly low and I might be better served spending more time on cash games. Of course, I enjoy MTTs, so I'll never be able to quit them. Poker is a hobby for me and if it were a job I might be able to cut out the MTTs if I thought they were hurting me. For now though, I see no reason to quit completely, I may scale back a bit though.Overall a very good poker day for me today though.
Jordan 1
I just played 9.5 hours live here in AC.pretty sick 2/5NL game. Was a lot of fun. I played 5/10 yesterday, but as it was during the middle of the week, it wasn't the "best" of games.Anyways, the 2/5 game was super fun. Great table laughing and stuff, and one player who was just nuts/goofy/fun guy. He won so many weird pots, got it all in with ATo vs QQ vs 33 (AQ folded) for like a $2k pot total, QQ held somehow and then he tips $10...lol, what a ****, we tell him to tip more and he throws $15. What a nit.Wow, I'm so tired I can't think. I was stuck $320 after like, blah. a long time, but finally profited $400 something. Woulda been $475 but I for some reason tipped $75 in this mediumish pot. I think I was so excited I finally hit a set I overtipped. $25-$50 prob. been fine. ANyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyways, I hate playing 300ish hands in 9 hours, but it was fun...and I guess winning helps too.Oh yea, it's sick playing live and only getting 1 Ace/x hand in 2 hours. I didn't know that was possible.- Jordan
econ_tim 0
jordan why would you tip $75?? i don't even understand wanting to tip $25 or $50.
CobaltBlue 662
I don't think I've ever tipped more than $5. Granted, I've only played 2/5 a few times. Overtipping = -EV. I mean, why are you tipping the dealer more because you won a big pot? It's not like they necessarily had anything to do with the play of the hand. Let me add that I once tipped a dealer before she left the table, and I hadn't won a pot during her round. She was friendly and kept the game moving.Oh, and I once played 3 hours of LHE live without getting a hand better than QT. Come back and talk to me when that happens. Where I play the dealers get a pretty good wage, especially relative to their skill/education, and the tips are divided between everyone.
kkot 0
I had to withdraw a large chunk of my bankroll earlier in the month, but after making the FT in the fulltilt 8k guarantee last night I can finally say I've finished my goal for the month.I just finished HOH1, and it has helped my tounament game so much more than I ever thought possible. I think I'm going to try to finish HOH2 by the end of the weekend.

I think I'm going to try to finish HOH2 by the end of the weekend.I never read 1.And given how much HoH2 (plus the forums) helped me to get into the money in the late stages of STT's, I wondered if HoH1 would be worth getting for the early stages.since this is just a goals thread, do you mind telling me how it helped you, kkot?thanks! iggymcfly 0
HOH 1's pretty basic. If you're a solid tournament player, I don't think it does a lot or you. It's just the stuff you'd get out of any poker book about when to make a C-bet, when to fold junk, basic stuff like that. It's a good guideline for how to play basic tournament poker, but if you already know that, there's nothing earth-shattering like in HOH2.
Actuary 3
ty.I'm afraid i let hands go too much in the early stages. My typical STT, unless I hit a monster, like set early, is:raise preflop with AQ, miss flop, c-bet. dwindledwindlesee flop with QJs, miss, have odds to see turn, fold turndwindlepick up small potetcetcget to M ~ 13Raise, get moved in, fold my KQsget to M ~ 7.Push KTs from MP.Dbl upplay aggressive 5 handed, push/fold unitl comfortable stackmake money 40% ish. ( probably 75-80% if I make it to top 5 and 3 pay)But the first levels seem pointless. Sometimes I hit big but more often that not I back off against aggression and "wait until I have no decision but push" to make.I'm oversimplifying.I'm maybe too tight early on.I see flops but rarely contest without solid hand/visibility.TT on a K45 flop.I'm gone, unless it's a tiny flop bet.A5s on a AT8r flop. same.I think I coudl be putting myself in better shape early on, instead of relying on the aggression later when low stacked. Without posting several boring hands showing my tightness, I was not sure how to ask for specific help. Thought HoH might be good for me.

After reading these forums for so long, I knew most, if not all, of the concepts already. I think it just really helped me get focussed and stay patient when I play MTT's. My biggest problem was that I would build a decent stack, then put myself in so many marginal situations that I forced myself to get lucky to even make the money. If you have the time to read it, it couldn't hurt. You might find a situation or two where you play something entirely different, and at the very least get a different perspective.
