way to go zach. be careful at the 100NL tables, but awesome that you have a decent bankroll again.as for me, i put in about 1200 hands today, basically doubling my monthly total. i registered for some certification courses, so i'll be working on those far more than playing, and relying on my bankroll to pay my rent and expenses. poker will still be my only source of income, but won't be playing more than 25K hands the next few months probably, and likely a fraction of that. (a small fraction)still haven't had a winning session on WPEX, but thanks to rakeback, i'm down less than $100.

Well, I just demolished my goal.I got to a 100 NL table, sit down, and there's a guy on my direct right who ended up being a 95/45/2.8, and he had $600!Needless to say, I took about $200 from him, and then someone finally busted him, so he left. But the table was soooo deep, and I was sitting with about $290, and pick up AA, and run it into KK, and win a $380 pot (by far my biggest ever)So, all in all, brings me to a grand total of $1200, as I took my dinner break. So, yeah.. good month... +965 since Wednesday, August 9th...I'm so excited to have my own, respectable BR again :DAnywho, gonna put in another session before bed.- Zach
remember, you only have 12 buy ins for 100nl.try to get that up to 15-20 and then work on your total management. Going into $200nl should be that transitionary stage to getting used to dropping $200-$500 during your first 3 sessions on the week and then playing good poker and ending up 5-10 buy ins at the end of the week. You'll lose, just fight thru it.In June, I started every week with a down swing. Usually lost 5-7 buy ins ($2k+) at $400nl. By the 18th I was up $6.5k.I never jumped up limits to make it back, just fought thru cause I knew I was playing well and did the job how it can be done. I didn't even get to play the last part of the month cause I was out of town, so who knows. I may have broke $10k, I may have lost a few, I don't know.Point is, you need to be ready for the downswings you'll have and be able to have the discipline and emotional stability to fight thru them and still end out on top by the end of the month.gl- Jordan

I don't plan on playing $200 NL for quite some time. I realize I have a ton to learn about NL before I get ahead of myself any more.I don't have 12 buyins for 100 NL anymore either, I have 13.5 ;)The one thing I have going for me (finally), is that I'm scared to play $200 NL, so going "that" far out of my roll is pretty much out of the question.I do realize the downswing will come, and I'm preparing for it mentally, as best I can.For now, I'm gonna ride the wave at $100 NL, because at this level, and with 13.5 buyins, it's not like I'm severely short, and also, the money actually feels like it matters to me, which is a key to my success in poker. I've found that the 100 NL level is pretty much perfect for where I am right now. Also, I don't think I've been on a mad tear necessarily. I'm fluctuating between 10 and 14 ptbb/100 at this point, after ~6000 hands (small sample, of course), but from my understanding, something between 8-12 would be sustainable long term?Anyways, thanks for the advice/caution/encouragement, etc, I do appreciate it. That is why I live in these strat forums after all.My long term goals are to keep a BR for 100 NL between 1500 and 2000, while skimming to pay down my debts. Once those are done, I will be focusing more on moving up, and growing a bigger roll.Until then, I'll be comfortable to have $1500 or so to play 100 NL, while taking the profits to pay down $140 USD to my buddy, $1,142.21 CAD to Neteller (for my well documented PartyCasino implosion), and $1000 CAD to VISA, and $850 CAD I owe for car repairs. I figure I can work that off in a couple months (hopefully), and move from there up the ranks in poker.Wish me luck :club:- Zach

Online I'm running by far the worst I've ever run in poker. I've dropped well over 150 BB at 2/4 6-max in my last 1500 or so hands. My record with big pairs is astoundingly bad. I'm missing every strong draw that I play aggressively in big pots, and I'm hitting big hands in tiny pots when people fold. You may see me at the .5/1 tables if this keeps up much longer.*Edit* Here's a fun hand that just happened to me. I pick up AA, one limper and I raise, both blinds call (8 small bets). Flop comes AT2 with 2 diamonds, I have no diamond, checked around to me and I bet, everyone flods. I run goot.

I been up and down this month. I'm currently around the $5k mark. I've been doing well in cash games and in MTT, just not playing enough hands right now.I figure if I get back on pace though I should be at my goals by the end of the month, hopefully.I just took 23rd in the $200 6 max event on FT, wasn't much of a payout, just $404 profit or something. I think I'm going to play the $500 main event this Sunday...but not sure, depends on how I feel.I leave for AC the 21st and am going to get in some live action there (tournies and cash) as well as online play and hopefully end up around $8-$12k on the month.- Jordan

You might just take over the whole city and return to Ohio a new man. It's very likely.

It's true about tournaments. You're never really happy unless you win. I played a $165 buy-in MTT on Party tonight, and got my second biggest cash ever, ($9700), but I felt like I made a couple minor mistakes heads-up that allowed a donkey to beat me, and I'm really pissed off right now that I didn't win. It was almost $8000 between first and second, and I'm just not in a good mood right now. Tomorrow I'll be happy about the tourney, but I'm pissed at the moment. He was a pushbot whenever I raised, even when he was too deep for it to be optimal, but I just never had the cards to stand up to him. I made a couple of marginal calls late, failed to protect my hand with a three-flush on board, and he ended up winning. Well, I guess it's a good hit, so I shouldn't be such a whiny b*tch. Still though, I was soooo close. I had a 3:1 chip lead at one point, and I blew it.

Thanks. I was a little pissed right at the time, but I'm really happy about the whole thing now. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to play more MTTs, because my winrate there's so much higher than anything else I've been doing. Even playing SnGs, I'd get way more firsts and seconds than thirds, so I think a situation where the difference between 1st and 2nd is almost as big as the difference between 2nd and last fits my game pretty well. It's sure a lot easier than trying to make $10K playing cash games. Cash games make me feel like I'm slamming my head against a brick wall sometimes. (SnGs are like a cement wall with spikes, but that's a different story.)

Nice hit, congrats on the score.I am finished hollywood poker bonus, took about 8k hands at 50NL to get it done. up $700 with play and bonus, now it is off to interpoker to finish that bonus. I am moving in a little while though and that is going to take a chunk out of the old bankroll.
